AP CM Chandrababu Naidu Supports Demonetization, Praises PM Modi on Operation Sindoor and India-Pak Relations
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu spoke in an interview with a national media channel, addressing several important topics including demonetization of high-value currency notes, Operation Sindoor, the Waqf Act, One Nation One Election, the Pahalgam terrorist attack, and the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Regarding demonetization, CM Naidu expressed his strong support for the move to ban high-value currency notes as a means to combat corruption. He stated that the highest denomination notes should be limited to Rs. 100 or Rs. 200, and even Rs. 500 notes should be abolished. According to him, only by removing large currency notes can corruption be effectively reduced in society. He also supported the 2016 decision by the Modi-led government to demonetize Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes.
Speaking about Operation Sindoor, Naidu praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for naming the military operation in honor of the Indian women who lost their husbands to terrorism. He said this was a meaningful tribute. The Chief Minister highlighted that terrorist camps were destroyed in just 20 minutes during the operation, calling it a significant achievement for the Modi government.
Naidu also commended Prime Minister Modi's leadership in managing the sensitive India-Pakistan relations. He described Modi as a global leader who skillfully prevented unnecessary military conflicts. According to Naidu, India will not seek conflict but will firmly protect its interests if provoked. He emphasized that the Modi government has been clear and strong in handling these matters.

Haryana police yet to respond to notice over professor's arrest: NHRC
The Haryana police have failed to respond to a notice issued by the National Human Rights Commission over the recent arrest of Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad for his remarks on Operation Sindoor in social media posts, the commission said on Tuesday (June 10, 2025). Mr. Mahmudabad, an associate professor of political science, was arrested by the Haryana police over his social media posts on May 18, leading to widespread discussions on how public discourse on military activity like Operation Sindoor should be conducted. In response to a request under the Right to Information Act, 2005 by The Hindu, the NHRC said the Haryana police had not responded to its notice within the one-week deadline, which expired on May 27. The NHRC had taken cognisance of a news report from May 20 and issued notice to the Director General of Police of Haryana over Mr. Mahmudabad's arrest, saying in the notice that the report had disclosed a 'prima facie' violation of the professor's human rights and liberty. The commission called for a detailed report on the case from the DGP within seven days. The NHRC said in its reply to the RTI request that the commission had on Monday sent a reminder to the Haryana police and that the case continued to be under consideration. A day after the NHRC issued notice to the Haryana police, however, Mr. Mahmudabad was granted bail under specific conditions by the Supreme Court and released from custody. In the reminder sent to the Haryana police on June 9, the NHRC said, 'The requisite report has not been received so far. It is requested that the report called for be sent to the commission by 16/06/2025.'

Long-pending central govt's infra projects in Belagavi back on track
Belagavi: Several long-pending central govt's infrastructure projects in and around Belagavi are finally gaining momentum after years of delay, primarily due to land acquisition hurdles. The breakthrough comes with the combined efforts of DC Mohammad Roshan and Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar , who took these stalled projects as a top priority. Key among them is the much-awaited Belagavi-Dharwad railway line via Kittur, a 73-km project sanctioned in 2019 during the tenure of former MP and MoS for railways, the late Suresh Angadi. Despite funding from the Centre, the project was held up for years due to land-related issues. However, DC Roshan recently announced that land acquisition is now complete, and the work is expected to commence shortly. The Halaga-Macche bypass highway, a vital route connecting Pune-Bengaluru NH-4 and Belagavi-Goa national highway, sanctioned in 2009, also faced prolonged delay due to legal land disputes. With the district administration actively mediating and convincing landowners, the impasse has been resolved, and construction is underway. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Another major infrastructure project, the Belagavi Ring Road was sanctioned in 2018. The Rs 3,800 crore project to be executed in three phases, received Rs 1,622 crore for the first phase of 34 km. DC Roshan recently confirmed that 80% of the land acquisition is now complete. This ambitious project, sanctioned under the Bharatmala project, will help resolve the traffic congestion in Belagavi city. "Most of these projects were delayed despite being sanctioned, because of land-related issues. After I became MP, I prioritised these issues, met Union ministers, held review meetings with officials, and visited the sites. Today, we are seeing the results. I expect the required land to be fully acquired in the next 2-3 months and the tender process to begin within 5-6 months," said MP Jagadish Shettar. He credited DC Mohammad Roshan for playing a vital role in resolving bureaucratic and on-ground challenges related to land acquisition. In addition, Shettar informed that land acquisition for Belagavi-Hunagund-Raichur highway, a Rs 1,452 crore project, has also reached near completion. He further assured that the new terminal at Belagavi airport will be ready by March 2026, marking a step toward upgrading the facility to international standards.

Cauvery Aarti: Prep works suspended after farmer protests
Mandya: The preliminary work for Cauvery Aarti project at the KRS Dam was suspended on Tuesday following opposition from local farmers. Preparatory activities, including land levelling and mud filling for the construction of a platform for the Aarti, were under way since Saturday. However, escalating protests by farmers prompted the district administration and the authorities concerned to halt the works immediately. In strong opposition to both the proposed amusement park and the Cauvery Aarti project, farmer leaders and members of progressive organisations announced a protest near the dam on Wednesday. SP Mallikarjun Baladandi visited the site on Tuesday and held a detailed discussion with local police and officials regarding the planned demonstration. In anticipation of the protest, tight security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order. MLA defends Cauvery Aarti, park project The opposition from farmers notwithstanding, Mandya MLA Ravikumar defended the proposed Cauvery Aarti and amusement park project at KRS Dam, describing it as a vital step toward the district's development and a significant source of employment. Addressing the concerns raised by farmer groups regarding the safety of the dam, Ravikumar dismissed them as unfounded. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "Just because people visit, will they start chipping away at the dam's stones? These fears are baseless," he said. Farmer organisations have criticised the govt for allocating Rs 100 crore to the project, claiming it could be completed for just Rs 20 crore. Ravikumar refuted this allegation, asserting that a detailed project report (DPR) would justify the expenditure. "You can't just pull Rs 100 crore out of thin air. A DPR will detail how every rupee is spent."
