Mohit Suri breaks down in emotional BTS video from 'Saiyaara' set with Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda
A behind-the-scenes video from the wrap-up schedule has gone viral, capturing the filmmaker in tears as he embraced cast and crew in a heartfelt farewell.
The video, originally shared by cinematographer Ashok Keer on Instagram, shows Suri breaking down as the unit applauds the end of filming.
The clip features lead actors Ahaan and Aneet, dressed as bride and groom in traditional attire, clapping and hugging each other while visibly moved by their director's emotional reaction.
As the camera pans, Suri is seen hugging crew members tightly, tears in his eyes. Actor Rajesh Kumar, who plays Aneet's father in the film, looks on with a warm smile, clearly touched by the moment.
'Saiyaara' is the love story of Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday), an aspiring singer, and Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), a gifted writer. The film explores their emotional journey through love, heartbreak, and sacrifice, and has resonated with audiences since its release.
The opening weekend saw a modest but positive performance at the box office, bolstered by praise from several industry veterans.
While Suri is no stranger to helming emotionally intense stories — with credits including 'Aashiqui 2' and 'Ek Villain' — Saiyaara appears to have struck a particularly personal chord. The emotional farewell highlights the passion and dedication the filmmaker poured into the project.
'Saiyaara' released in theatres on July 18.

Marathi film removed to ‘make way for Saiyaara': MNS leader alleges discrimination, warns of protest
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS's) film wing chief, Ameya Khopkar, on Friday lashed out at multiplex owners after his latest production, Yere Yere Paisa 3, was removed from several theatres just a week after release. Khopkar alleged discrimination against Marathi cinema in Maharashtra, and particularly Mumbai, and warned that if regional films continued to be sidelined, his protests would escalate. 'I should not have to agitate for my own film,' Khopkar said, addressing a press conference in Mumbai. 'But if multiplexes continue to suppress Marathi cinema, do not be surprised if glass panels are broken,' he added. The Sanjay Jadhav-directed Marathi film, Yere Yere Paisa 3, which released on July 18, was reportedly removed from several screens to make way for the Hindi film Saiyaara, which hit theatres the same day. The decision has triggered criticism from the Marathi film fraternity and political leaders. The development has also come at a time when the state has witnessed protests and incidents of violence over the Marathi language. Khopkar, a long-time advocate of regional representation in cinema halls, alleged a 'deliberate backlash' from multiplex owners. 'This is retaliation. Years ago, we fought for Marathi films to be screened in multiplexes. We succeeded. And now, they are hitting back,' he said. In a pointed reference to Plaza cinema in Dadar, Khopkar said that all four daily shows were allotted to Saiyaara, leaving no space for the Marathi release. 'Even in the heart of Mumbai, there is no place for Marathi films,' he said. Support for Khopkar came from across party lines. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said in a post on X, 'To accommodate Saiyaara, Yere Yere Paisa 3 has been sidelined. This has become routine. The fight for Marathi must intensify.' The cinema wing of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena also staged a protest outside a PVR multiplex in Bandra, demanding that the rule mandating screening space for regional films be enforced. 'The state government must not remain a mute spectator,' Khopkar said. 'We are not going to the government with folded hands. It is the government's duty to ensure fair treatment for Marathi cinema.' Khopkar also expressed disappointment at the lack of support from within the Marathi film industry. 'I have stood by this industry, even faced legal action for it. But today, no one is speaking up,' he said. According to film trade sources, Yere Yere Paisa 3 opened to a decent response at the box office, but its shows were reduced in several multiplexes due to scheduling changes and screen availability.

Are Saiyaara Theatre Videos Paid? Netizens Wonder As Ahaan Panday's Fan Cries Inconsolably
Mohit Suri's directorial Saiyaara stars fresh faces – Ahaan and Aneet. It has earned over Rs 150 crores at the box office as of now. Ahaan Panday's debut movie, Saiyaara, has become one of the biggest releases of the year. It has been getting an overwhelming response from the audience, with several videos going viral on social media in which fans are seen crying and cheering in theatres. While one of the videos also showed a man watching the film with an IV drip on his hand, another featured a man breaking down in a movie hall. Now, a new video has surfaced on social media in which a girl is seen crying inconsolably after watching Ahaan Panday's debut movie in a theatre. However, the viral clip has left netizens wondering if all such videos are fake or paid. What followed was a discussion among netizens, with many arguing that all such videos might just be a PR gimmick. 'It's real, but the trend started by PR I guess," one of the users wrote. Another added that such videos are surely a 'PR game". Some users even argued that PRs might have offered free movie tickets to people, asking them to record such videos. 'Who's recording their video? Why is it out on social media and gets viral instantly? How meme pages are getting all these videos themselves? Obviously the answer is PR! They must've started it, now audiences are just going along with the bandwagon. If this is not the case, we seriously need to take mental health of this country seriously!" another comment read. Saiyaara has earned over Rs 150 crores at the box office as of now. It is worth noting that the film followed nearly a 'no promotion strategy'. Mohit Suri's directorial stars fresh faces – Ahaan and Aneet. They made no public appearances before the film's release, had no collaborations with influencers, were low-key on their respective social media handles, and spoke to none of the media houses. Previously, in an interview with Just Too Filmy, Mohit Suri shared that the silent marketing was a strategic call taken in consultation with producer Akshaye Widhani and YRF head Aditya Chopra. 'Until the two actors don't have anything behind them to talk about, the conversation will be filled with questions like 'Who is the prankster on set?' or 'How is it working with Mohit Suri?' It's all redundant stuff," he said. First Published: July 26, 2025, 09:30 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Saiyaara Box Office Collection Day 8: Ahaan Panday's blockbuster has already beaten Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Ranbir Kapoor's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Saiyaara Box Office Collection Day 8: Director Mohit Suri's Saiyaara steps into its second week, all set to pass the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. Debutante actor Ahaan Panday has announced himself in a grand manner, with his first project outgrossing some of the biggest films of the last few years. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 17.5 crore net on day 8, taking the total domestic collection to Rs 190.25 crore. At a time when films are struggling to break even, especially the ones starring new faces or debutantes, this kind of performance is unprecedented. After surpassing superstar Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par (164.74 cr), Saiyaara's latest victim is Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 (173 cr). Saiyaara has also overtaken the ensemble comedy Housefull 5 (183 cr), which was filled to the brim with big Bollywood names and had two separate endings. The film saw a bit of a dip in its occupancy rates, with the average of day 8 coming out at 25.6%. The morning and afternoon shows managed rates of 13.69% and 23.58%, while the evening and night shows achieved 25.39% and 39.72%. ALSO READ: Suniel Shetty says Jackie Shroff and Salman Khan are always one phone call away: 'Not because I helped them when they needed, but…' For comparison, Saiyaara has now earned more (net collection) than the lifetime earnings of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (188 cr), Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiya 2 (184 cr), Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra's Bajirao Mastani (184 cr), Shah Rukh Khan's Raees (164 cr), and Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif's Bang Bang! (174 cr). It's true that times have changed since most of these films came out, but it should also be noted that audiences now have more of an incentive to sit at home and use streaming services rather than go to the theatres. YRF and Mohit Suri came up with the strategy to keep the new stars away from the spotlight, building intrigue around the project. Both Ahaan and Aneet now need to assess opportunities and think very carefully about their next project, as everything they do from this point on will be compared to this film.
