'Sydney Sweeney referencing Kim Novak, a white lady, for Superfine: Tailoring Black Style….ok?' scoffed a cyber faultfinder on X, blasting the 'White Lotus' star's nod to 1950s actress Kim Novak, 92.
She's set to portray the silver screen veteran in 'Scandalous!,' a forthcoming film directed by Met Gala co-chair, Colman Domingo. The biography will follow Novak's forbidden love affair with late '50s boulevardier, Sammy Davis Jr., during Hollywood's Golden Age.
Before making her grand debut at tonight's fashionable to-do, Sweeny shared a snapshot of Novak on her Instagram story, hinting at her stylish inspiration for the evening, where the dress code was 'Tailored for you.'

Upon arrival, the 'Euphoria' actress sashayed up the museum's staircase in a curve-clasping Miu Miu gown. The black, sparkling number featured beaded fringe and a keyhole cutout that showcased her ample cleavage.

She looked exquisite from head to toe. But did she nail the night's celebration of Black dandyism and designers? Some virtual vultures are shaking their heads no.
'Paying homage to a white lady when the theme is tailoring black style,' spat an outraged X user.

'Sydney Sweeney is not on the theme for the night at all. Nice gown, beautiful gowns, though,' ranted another.

'Actress Sydney Sweeney looks like she's going to a White House Correspondents Dinner and not the Met Gala based on Super Fine: Tailoring Black Style. #MetGala2025,' an underwhelmed onlooker wrote. 'I guess this is the 'safe' way to interpret the theme! Smh!.'
'Sydney Sweeney needs to explain how paying homage to a white woman is black dandyism.'
The beleaguered belle explained the curation of her attire to Vogue, telling red carpet correspondent Lala Anthony: 'I always feel that [Miu Miu] just brings such beautiful stories to every dress. '
'So this is actually paying homage to Kim Novak, and I'm doing a movie with Colman Domingo … so we wanted to really just bring that to life.'

Sydney Sweeney breaks silence amid American Eagle ad controversy
Sydney Sweeney is speaking out for the first time nearly a month after her American Eagle ad erupted online. In her new Wall Street Journal cover story, the 27-year-old expressed her thoughts on the chatter surrounding her controversial campaigns. When asked if she's been strategic about her campaigns, she responded, 'Yes. Very.' Though she didn't address the American Eagle ad in the new interview, she did speak on another ad she did for the soap brand Dr. Squatch. In that campaign, which was released in May, it's suggested that the product contains Sweeney's used bath water. 'I think it's important to have a finger on the pulse of what people are saying,' Sweeney told the Wall Street Journal. 'Because everything is a conversation with the audience.' 'It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting. They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi's bathwater,' the actress added in reference to a scene in 'Saltburn' when Keoghan drank Elordi's used bathwater. Sweeney's thoughts on marketing come weeks after the actress made headlines for an American Eagle advertisement that caused online outrage. In the ad, she boasted about her 'great jeans,' which sparked accusations of promoting eugenics. Many critics likened the wordplay to 'Nazi propaganda.' In the ad, Sweeney says, 'Genes are passed down from parent to offspring, often determining traits like eye color, personality, and even hair color. My jeans are blue.' Following the backlash, American Eagle responded in a statement saying, ''Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story.' The statement continued: 'We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.'

Trump plays DJ on White House's new patio, blasting Pavarotti and Procol Harum
President Trump indulged in one of his favorite pastimes Tuesday — playing DJ on the White House's new patio, blaring melancholy tunes like 'Whiter Shade of Pale' by Procol Harum and 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' by Elvis as reporters looked on. The oldies-loving commander in chief threw on his personal playlist while testing the sound system in the renovated Rose Garden in preparation for what press secretary Karoline Leavitt predicted would be 'the best event in the history of the White House.' Leavitt teased the party would take place 'hopefully soon,' suggesting the construction was nearly done. Advertisement Trump's list of tunes also included the classic love song 'You Are So Beautiful' by Joe Cocker and the late Luciano Pavarotti's rendition of 'Nessun dorma' from the opera 'Turandot.' 3 The newly renovated Rose Garden has a white stone patio with white tables featuring yellow striped umbrellas. Shutterstock While blasting the songs, the president briefly emerged from the West Wing and pumped his fist toward the gathered press pool, but didn't speak to reporters, according to footage captured by One America News reporter Daniel Baldwin. Leavitt said the president hinted that the first White House event on the new patio would be for the press. Corbis via Getty Images Along with the Rose Garden renovation, Trump has said he plans to revamp the White House to be more functional and to suit his personal style. He has redone the Oval Office by adding gold embellishments from Mar-a-Lago and also announced plans to build a 90,000-square foot ballroom in the East Wing, with construction due to start next month.

Davis, 30-0-1, is coming off a 12-round decision win over Lamont Roach Jr. at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. 3 Jake Paul will have a massive advantage in the size aspect of this fight against GerVonta Davis.
