Himachal: Toll collection suspended at two points in Bilaspur due to landslides
Shimla, Aug 20 (PTI) Fee collections at Baloh and Garamora toll plazas on the Kiratpur-Nerchowk four-lane highway in Himachal's Bilapsur district has been suspended for a month in view of landslides triggered by heavy rains, officials said on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, Bilapsur, Rahul Kumar has issued the orders under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. All toll collection at the two toll plazas will be suspended with immediate effect for a period of one month in the interest of public convenience, as per the order. Incessant heavy rainfall and landslides have caused severe damage to several portions of the national highway and falling boulders and repeated blockages have disrupted vehicular movement, leaving commuters stranded for hours. Earlier, Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani had raised the issue with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, highlighting that when major portions of the highway remain partially or fully blocked, charging toll is not justified and urged that toll collection be suspended. Sukhu assured him that the issue would be taken up seriously and necessary steps would be initiated. Mumbai Now Has A Spider-Man To Drain Flooded Street: ‘Bahut Paani Khali Karna Hai'
Last Updated: A man dressed as Spider Man was spotted on a flooded street in Mumbai, trying to clear the excess water after heavy rainfall. Mumbai is battling heavy rains once again. But in the middle of this chaos, a surprising hero has grabbed everyone's attention. A man dressed as Spider Man was spotted on a flooded street, trying to clear the excess water. The clip, which has gone viral, shows the friendly neighbourhood superhero draining the water in the middle of the road. Social media users were amused by the sight and said the superhero had stepped in to help when the city needed it most. The video, which has brought some relief, is believed to have been filmed in Bhiwandi, as the content creator who posted it has often shared clips from that location earlier. After the first video went viral, the creator shared another clip showing a different side of himself. This time, instead of clearing water, he is seen struggling to keep himself safe on the waterlogged street. 'Bahut paani khali karna hai abhi," the caption of the post read. Reacting to the post, a user wrote, 'Real Spider man of Mumbai." Another shared, 'Spider man water away from home." 'Spider Man Suffering In The Rain," a comment read. Another jokingly mentioned, 'Mission impossible." One more added, 'Bhiwandi's poor Spider Man." Mumbai On High Alert According to The Hindu, Mahesh Palawat, vice-president of Meteorology and Climate Change at Skymet Weather, shared that the heavy rainfall is caused due to several weather systems coming together. He explained that when such things happen, they strengthen each other, which makes the rain and storms much more intense. He said, 'A low-pressure area over Vidarbha, a cyclonic circulation over the Northeast Arabian Sea, a depression over the Bay of Bengal, and an active offshore Monsoon trough have resulted in vigorous Monsoon conditions over coastal Maharashtra, particularly Mumbai." Residents of Mumbai have been struggling due to heavy rains, which have been going on for several days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the city, along with nearby areas like Thane and Palghar. In just one day, the city received so much rainfall that it led to waterlogged streets, disrupted local train services and flight delays.
