S.W.A.T. Vet Weighs In on Surprise Spinoff News (‘I'd Be Lying If I Said It Didn't Sting'), Gets Support From Co-Stars

David Lim, who since Day 1 played S.W.A.T.'s Office Victor Tan, has shared his candid thoughts on how the S.W.A.T. EXILES spinoff announcement was handled earlier this month.
In EXILES, which will begin filming 10 episodes this summer in Los Angeles, 'After a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel 'Hondo' Harrelson is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits,' reads the official logline. 'Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.' (Yeah, we have thoughts on that premise, too.)

Shemar Moore, who headlined S.W.A.T. for eight seasons as Hondo, is the only cast member confirmed to return for EXILES — though Sony Pictures TV Studios chief Katherine Pope has said, 'I think you can expect some of your favorites to be a part of it in some way.'
But as Lim alludes to in his lengthy Instagram post, neither Moore nor showrunner Jason Ning acknowledged the CBS reboot's ensemble in their statements accompanying the May 18 spinoff announcement. (Moore would, days later, later name-check Lim and other co-stars in an Instagram video in which he also framed himself as 'the Tom Brady of S.W.A.T.')
'I'd be lying if I said the rollout of the new spinoff didn't sting,' Lim shared on Instagram. 'It was tough to see it announced just two days after our finale — with no mention of the cast who helped build S.W.A.T. from day one.
'After 8 incredible seasons,' he added, 'it felt like we were brushed aside when there could've been a moment of reflection and recognition — for the people who built this show, and for the impact it had on so many.'
Lim led off his post by saying, 'Being a part of S.W.A.T. for the past 8 seasons has been one of the great honors of my life. I poured my heart into playing Tan — and even more than that, into the team and friendships we built on and off screen. What made S.W.A.T. special wasn't just the action, or one character. It was the squad. The bond. The camaraderie…. That effortless chemistry was there from the very first day we came together for the pilot, and it carried through all 8 seasons…. We had a magical run and went out on a high note with those final two episodes.'
In closing, he said, 'I've seen the comments, the messages, the support — and it truly means a lot. I may not know what the future holds for Tan, but I couldn't be more proud of what we created together — our cast, writers, producers, crew… our SWAT family. No version of this story can take that away.'
Lim's IG has thus far received supportive comments from past/present co-stars including Rochelle Aytes ('Beautifully said!!'), Annie Ilonzeh ('Very well said'), Niko Pepaj ('Love you brother') and Emily Alabi ('So much love & respect to you and the entire @swatcbs @swatwriters team').
In Moore's aforementioned Instagram video, the S.W.A.T. front man and EP acknowledged that he 'might catch some flack from the industry with what I'm about to say,' before referring to himself as 'the Tom Brady of S.W.A.T.' and saying it's up to the EXILES 'team' to 'keep on pushing with their quarterback.'
After singling out a dozen castmates, Moore stressed, 'That's my family for life, OK? But just like in sports, Tom Brady might be the quarterback, but people get traded. Tight ends get traded, the running back gets traded, the receivers get traded… but the team keeps on pushing with their quarterback, and I'm that guy.'

Senior Rescue Dog Who 'Lived Outside For 15 years' Making Up For Lost Time

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. A rescue dog who has spent almost all of her life living outdoors is finally getting to experience some much-deserved home comforts. Veronica Pflueger, a development director at Hope Animal Rescue, a non-profit in North Carolina, shared footage to her Instagram, @wethreepitties, showing the moment she found 17-year-old rescue dog Sheba enjoying a nap on her bed. It's well-earned to say the least. "Sheba was surrendered to a local county animal in May of 2023 after her previous owner unfortunately lost his housing and couldn't take her with him," Pflueger told Newsweek. "She was 15 at the time and had spent her entire life living outside prior to being surrendered. The first half of her life was spent on a chain. Then another local non-profit provided and built a metal run and enclosure for her outside so she would at least be unchained." Sheba has fully converted to becoming an inside dog who loves nothing more than napping. Sheba has fully converted to becoming an inside dog who loves nothing more than napping. wetheepitties/instagram Pflueger first met Sheba after the local shelter reached out to Hope Animal Rescue for help. "Given Sheba's age at the time she was surrendered and the condition she was in—she had skin issues, oral issues, and was heartworm positive—she was an urgent placement need for the shelter so they reached out to see if we had a foster home available," she said. Pflueger has been fostering dogs for a decade but had never taken on a senior dog before. She found herself drawn to helping Sheba though. "For whatever reason I couldn't get her out of my head and no one else or any other rescues were willing to take her so we said yes," Pflueger said. Having initially agreed to foster Sheba, within months Pflueger had decided to adopt. They recently celebrated two happy years together with Sheba, now 17, transformed from a struggling senior shelter dog to an "indoor couch queen that enjoys the finer things in life." Those finer things include frequent naps, regular snuggles with one of Pflueger's other dogs and being petted by her husband. "I think she might be in love with him," Pflueger said. Sheba also helps look after any of the new fosters that arrive in the house. "She had never had a comfy dog bed before, let alone a couch or human bed to sleep on. Once we introduced her to these comfy spots, she decided that's where she was always meant to be and we'd often find her jumping up on the couch or choosing to wander down to our bedroom for an afternoon nap in our bed." Pflueger shared heartwarming footage to her @wethreepitties Instagram showing Sheba making up for lost time with a nap on his mom's bed. On the clip, which has been viewed 2 million times since being shared in February, Pflueger can be seen going over to pet her pooch companion and, for a brief moment, it looks as if Sheba is smiling. "There is honestly nothing better than seeing a dog who lived outside for 15 years sleep peacefully on a comfy, cozy bed," she said. "It may seem like an insignificant thing for lots of other dogs, but for her those moments are everything because she quite literally never had that before." Sheba might have lived much of her life as an "outdoor dog" but most experts agree there is no such thing. As Rob Halpin from Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals explained to The Dodo: "Keeping pet dogs outside consigns them to a life of loneliness and frustration. "Dogs are highly social animals whose ancestors and cousins—the wolves—live in packs. Wolves hunt together, sleep together and play together," he said. "Dogs don't have packs. They only have us. Depriving dogs of human companionship by forcing them to live outside blunts their natural desires and is its own form of animal cruelty." The thought of Sheba spending all that time outside is difficult for Pflueger to contemplate. "It honestly breaks my heart to think that she spent 15 whole years sleeping on the ground or in a plastic igloo... especially given how much she LOVES all of the comfiest spots in our home," she said. Thankfully, that's all in the past now. "When we took her in, we vowed to make sure she was comfy and cozy and in a peaceful and warm environment for the rest of her life," she said. It's a promise Pflueger has certainly delivered on.

Miley Cyrus's Completely transparent Gown Wasn't Her Only Statement on NYC Trip

Miley Cyrus brought her 'Walk of Fame' lyrics to life for a day out in New York City yesterday, 'walk[ing] the concrete like it's a stage.' For a full day of press for her ninth studio album Something Beautiful, the Grammy winner began the day signing autographs and taking photos with fans wearing a black sequin halter top with denim shorts, a black belt, fishnet tights, black and tan heeled boots, and shades. She posted photos of the look on Instagram with the caption, 'Your love not just today, but for nearly two decades means so much more to me than the words I can find at the end of a long, fulfilling day. You make my world go round. Thank you for showing up & supporting the release of Something Beautiful with me @roughtradenyc.' (That same day, Cyrus also stopped by the classic record store Rough Trade for a performance and signing.) That evening, she went for a more risqué look when she was spotted arriving at her hotel in a floor-length transparent black dress with a plunging neckline. She accessorized with a gold necklace, dainty hoop earrings, and shades. She switched up her hair, too, opting for a messy up-do. And while stopping to sign autographs, one fan in particular had a noteworthy experience to share. A man named Liam revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Cyrus signed the message 'the best Liam' on his Something Beautiful vinyl. Cyrus's ex-husband is Liam Hemsworth, so some fans saw it as a reference to him. While sitting with Fallon, Cyrus revealed that her favorite song on the new album is 'Every Girl You've Ever Loved,' featuring supermodel Naomi Campbell. 'With Naomi, what I do is treat her the way I'd like to be treated,' she said. 'Call time? 5 P.M. Glam? Lots of glam. Lots of clothes. All fabulous things.' She went on to speak more about the album and why she was drawn to featuring Campbell on the LP. 'This project is such a dream and such a fantasy, and that's what I've always loved about supermodels and the runway and fashion. It's something that's so out of this world.'
