At least two people shot in New York office building
New York City police converged on a Park Avenue skyscraper in midtown Manhattan where gunshots were reported fired inside the tower, police said.
Multiple US media outlets including The New York Post and CNN, citing police sources, reported that the gunman killed himself.
The Fire Department of New York said emergency crews were called to the Park Avenue office building following a report someone was shot.
A spokesperson said the call came in at about 6:30pm on Monday, local time, but provided no other details.
Local TV footage showed lines of people with their hands above their heads evacuating the office building.
The building includes offices for Blackstone, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan and the consulate general of Ireland, among others.
FBI deputy director Dan Bongino said in a social media post that agents and other bureau personnel were responding to provide support to what he said was an "active crime scene".
The city's emergency management alert system warned of traffic delays, road closures and disruptions to public transportation in the area.

South Australian Humane Animal Rescue Association charged with ill-treatment offences
Warning: This article contains distressing content about the alleged mistreatment of animals. The RSPCA will rehome more than 100 animals following their seizure from a property in Morgan across six months to early this year, itself the location of a charity registered for the humane rehoming of animals. Founders of the South Australian Humane Animal Rescue Association (SAHARA), Carole Morris and Shane Jones, have been jointly charged with 41 counts of ill-treatment of an animal and three counts of failure to comply with an animal welfare notice. The offending is alleged to have taken place between September 2024 and February 2025. Ms Morris and Mr Jones appeared in person at the Berri Magistrates Court on Tuesday. The pair, represented by defence lawyer Michael Lloyd, initially opposed the forfeiture of the animals. Magistrate Jay Pandya paused proceedings to give the pair time to deliberate with RSPCA's legal counsel on their position. After what Magistrate Pandya described as "extensive negotiations" RSPCA's legal counsel Simon Perrie told the court the forfeiture of the animals had been agreed upon. "The RSPCA will undertake to prioritise the rehoming of these animals whenever possible," Mr Perrie said. "We will provide a list of any animals that do end up being euthanased, and we will provide that information as part of the disclosure." According to court documents, RSPCA inspectors seized 23 horses, two dogs, one camel, eight cattle, 74 chickens and one goat from the Morgan property between October 2024 and February 2025. Since coming into the RSPCA's care, one dog, two horses and five of the cattle had been humanely euthanased or suffered unassisted deaths and therefore were not part of the forfeiture application. Magistrate Pandya told the court she was "pleased to hear" the application made by the RSPCA was not opposed. According to court documents, multiple animals were humanely euthanised by the RSPCA, including a pig which was found to have a "severed spinal cord". A horse which had a "maggot-infested wound" and a dog which had a "severe dental disease" were also euthanased. Court documents found multiple animals were rated a two out of nine on the body condition score system and were described by the RSPCA as "severely emaciated". SAHARA is a registered charity under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). The charity had received $515,971 in donations and bequests according to their 2023 annual information statement submitted to the ACNC last year. Under South Australia's amended Animal Welfare Act those found guilty of animal cruelty face maximum fines of up to $250,000 and/or 10 years jail for the aggravated ill-treatment of an animal. The pair will have their first criminal charges hearing in September.

‘Dangerous and predatory': 62yo followed group of young girls through Bondi for 3 days
A 62-year-old man had a ' clear modus operandi' when he stalked a group of 12-year-old girls for three days after sitting next to them at Westfield Bondi Junction McDonald's, court documents have revealed. A community corrections order is a term of imprisonment served in the community. Court documents obtained by revealed how police argued against Coker's bail, which was granted, calling him a 'repeat offender' and labelling his actions 'dangerous and predatory'. 'Police hold extreme concern that the accused will continue to reoffend and target further children,' the documents state. 'The accused committed these acts over a span of three days with a clear modus operandi.' The police facts detailed how on January 24, Coker sat next to the girls as they ate at Bondi Westfield McDonald's and 'giggled along' as they spoke to each other. Court documents state that Coker 'left the dining area and waved at the victims' and yelled out: 'Bye guys'. He then followed the group through Westfield, making the girls 'uncomfortable' with the group quickly rushing down an escalator into a store. I'm the guy from McDonald's' before laughing and driving away. Two days later – on January 27 in the afternoon – the girls were swimming at the north end of Bondi Beach when they spotted Coker on the sand. 'From the water, the victims saw the accused start to take off his shirt as though he were going to enter the water,' the documents state. 'The victims were concerned that he would swim towards them, so they went back to the shore and left the beach.' They matter was reported to the police, with the young girls fearing Coker would cause them 'physical harm'. 'The frequency of the interactions made the victims feel that the accused was intentionally following them,' the court documents stated. Following a police investigation, Coker was arrested on January 30. He was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with four counts of stalking or intimidation and one count of stopping on or near a pedestrian crossing. Magistrate Michael Barko handed down a 12-month community correction order for the stalking charges and a $220 fine for the driving charges.
