Cyberabad police conduct fire mock drill to boost emergency readiness
The exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Telangana State Fire Services Department.
The drill began with the activation of the fire alarm system, triggering an immediate evacuation of staff from the Commissioner's office. Trained fire marshals directed teams from various departments, including Traffic, Cybercrime, She Teams, Economic Offences Wing, Bomb Disposal Squad, and CAR Headquarters, to the designated assembly point near the National Flag Post. The public address system, lift circuit breakers, and other safety protocols were activated as per the standard operating procedures, while a simulated rescue operation followed.
Madhapur Station Fire Officer Anjaneyulu Dodla led the live demonstration, explaining the use of different fire safety tools and techniques to handle various categories of fire incidents. He emphasised the need for calm, clear decision-making and adherence to evacuation routes during emergencies. He also conducted sessions on personal safety, the importance of early response, and how to operate extinguishers and alarms effectively.
A highlight of the drill was the deployment of a Bronto Skylift vehicle by the Fire Services Department, which simulated high-rise evacuation scenarios. Fire tenders, medical teams, and other safety units were also mobilised for the exercise, underscoring the department's capability to handle complex rescue operations.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty and Joint Commissioner Gajarao Bhupal were also present throughout the exercise. They stressed the significance of routine drills, personal awareness, and technical readiness in preventing and responding to fire emergencies.
Following the mock drill, a review session was conducted to assess the performance of participating teams and identify areas for improvement. Officers discussed potential upgrades to equipment and training protocols while reiterating the importance of public communication during crises, particularly through timely social media updates to dispel misinformation.

Bhopal: In a move to enforce the mandate on wearing helmets for two-wheeler riders and seatbelts for four-wheeler drivers, the traffic police conducted a surprise check of their own personnel on Monday morning. A senior traffic officer said that to reduce road accident fatalities and ensure strict enforcement of road safety rules, the traffic police, in coordination with local police stations, routinely conduct vehicle checking drives and penalise violators. However, it was frequently observed that police personnel themselves often failed to follow these rules while driving, leading to public criticism of enforcement actions. To address this, the traffic police launched an internal checking drive at the Traffic Police Station itself, which will be conducted regularly. He said that on Monday, starting at 9 am, a surprise checking was carried out at the Traffic Police Station. As cops arrived for duty, those violating helmet and seatbelt rules were immediately penalised and issued stern warnings by SHO Traffic KKL Meena. Out of the personnel checked, 11 were fined—eight for riding two-wheelers without helmets and three for not wearing seatbelts while driving four-wheelers. Notably, after the recently held meeting with Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety Chairman, retired Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, on July 31, Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra issued a strict directive requiring all officers and personnel posted in various police units across Bhopal district to mandatorily wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and fasten seatbelts while driving four-wheelers.

Police roll out ‘Safe Ride' to regulate autos, e-rickshaws

Titled 'Project Safe Ride', the campaign seeks to undertake verification and registration of all such vehicles. 'The initiative aims to streamline public transport operations, bolster commuter safety, and weed out unregistered or potentially unsafe vehicles. The scheme, which came into effect on July 29, makes it mandatory for all public transport vehicle owners and drivers in the city to undergo online verification and registration through the police department's portal,' said joint commissioner of police (Law & Order) Babloo Kumar. 'This digital initiative will enable traffic authorities to maintain a city-wide verified database of public transport operators,' said DCP-Traffic Kamles Dixit in a meeting with members of nearly 30 associations on Tuesday. Commercial vehicles sans QR invalid 'Once registered and verified, drivers will receive a unique QR code, which must be printed and pasted on their vehicles. From September 1, vehicles without this QR code will be considered illegal,' the JCP said. 'The QR code is a safety net. It gives passengers the power to verify the driver and vehicle ownership in real-time,' added the DCP-Traffic. Passengers can scan the QR code using any smartphone to instantly access information about the vehicle, its owner, and the driver. Enforcement to begin in Sept Starting September 1, police will be undertaking a strict checking drive targeting commercial vehicles operating sans registration or QR codes. Offenders may face penalties or have their vehicles barred from plying. Notably, vehicles that are not verified by the deadline will no longer be allowed to operate in Lucknow. 'Moreover, in cases when a new driver is employed, the vehicle owner must update the details online for fresh police verification,' read a police note. Drivers' dress code As part of the project, drivers must adhere to a prescribed dress code, with violations attracting penalties. The JCP also urged the unions to follow the dress code. He said people must only board those autos and e-rickshaws that display a verified QR code and confirm the drivers' details. Hyderabad: To enhance emergency response systems, improve inter-departmental coordination, and ensure public safety during disaster situations, a comprehensive fire mock drill was conducted at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, in collaboration with the Telangana State Fire Department. The drill began with the sounding of a fire alarm, prompting the immediate and systematic evacuation of the Cyberabad commissioner office staff.
