Cyberabad Police conducts fire mock drill to strengthen emergency preparedness
Hyderabad: To enhance emergency response systems, improve inter-departmental coordination, and ensure public safety during disaster situations, a comprehensive fire mock drill was conducted at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, in collaboration with the Telangana State Fire Department. The drill began with the sounding of a fire alarm, prompting the immediate and systematic evacuation of the Cyberabad commissioner office staff. Trained Fire Marshals guided the personnel to the designated Assembly Point near the National Flag Post. Teams from various wings, including Traffic Police, Cybercrime, SHE Teams, Special Branch, Economic Offences Wing, Bomb Disposal Squad, and CAR Headquarters, actively participated in the drill. Fire alarm systems lift circuit breakers, and the Public Address System were activated as per Standard Operating Procedures, followed by simulated rescue operations carried out by emergency teams. The Telangana Fire Services Department played a crucial role in the exercise by deploying fire tenders, medical teams, safety personnel, and a Bronto Skylift vehicle to simulate high-rise rescue operations. The Bronto Skylift showcased advanced capabilities for evacuating individuals from upper floors during fire emergencies. The mock drill emphasized the importance of awareness among staff regarding evacuation procedures, emergency exits, and the correct usage of fire safety equipment. During the mock drill, Madhapur Station Fire Officer Anjaneyulu Dodla conducted a live demonstration on the use of various fire safety tools and explained different types of fire emergencies along with the appropriate response methods. The officer also explained how to act during emergencies, the importance of remaining calm, and how to evacuate safely using designated routes. In the presence of Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, and Joint Commissioner Dr Gajarao Bhupal, the need for timely precautions and personal safety awareness was emphasized. Such drills not only enhance coordination between departments but also educate staff and the general public on how to respond swiftly and safely in emergencies. The Cyberabad Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding lives and property through proactive planning, inter-agency collaboration, regular training, and the effective use of social media platforms to provide accurate real-time updates and counter misinformation during crisis situations. Following the exercise, a review meeting was held to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and recommend action points to strengthen preparedness. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty and Joint Commissioner Gajarao Bhupal were also present throughout the exercise. They stressed the significance of routine drills, personal awareness, and technical readiness in preventing and responding to fire emergencies. Following the mock drill, a review session was conducted to assess the performance of participating teams and identify areas for improvement. Officers discussed potential upgrades to equipment and training protocols while reiterating the importance of public communication during crises, particularly through timely social media updates to dispel misinformation.

Cyberabad cops blow lid off betting syndicate; 4 held, 10 websites shut
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate has successfully dismantled a sophisticated online betting syndicate that operated through Telegram influencers, unauthorised betting websites and mule accounts. Police have arrested four individuals involved in the operation and subsequently shut down ten betting websites. The arrested individuals, identified as primary influencers, are: Chinnamsetti Naga Rakesh, who managed Telegram channels 'ICC Cricket Reports' and 'ICC Toss' along with websites such as and amassing 60,000 followers and earning Rs 1.7 crore; Pottavathini Deepak, who operated 'The Mars Toss,' 'The Mars Line,' and 'Magical Mars,' earning Rs 55 lakh; Guguloth Sri Ram Naik, who ran 'Sahara,' 'Sahara Toss,' and 'Telugu Toss Line,' accumulating Rs 30 lakh; and Hemanth Kumar, who operated 'ICC Cricket Ground Report' and 'Balaji Cricket Analyst' on earning Rs 20 lakh. According to police, this network systematically deceived young people with false promises of match-fixing tips and employed aggressive social media campaigns to lure millions into illegal gambling platforms. Online betting is prohibited in Telangana state under the TS Gaming Act – 2017. Police reported that on June 13, a complaint was received from a Miyapur resident who had been defrauded through 'guaranteed TOSS FIX predictions' on Telegram channels. The complainant and a friend lost Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh respectively. Following the complaint, the Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) formed four specialised teams. The police identified and subsequently shut down the illegal websites: and The Cyber Crime police stated that the accused created private Telegram groups offering 'exclusive insider tips,' claiming access to 'fixed matches' and 'guaranteed predictions.' They reportedly used emotional manipulation and FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) tactics. The operation involved account creation, fund deposits, money laundering, and a payout and 'frustration loop,' all supported by a commission structure. 'The influencers earned a 1-3% commission per rupee bet, along with additional monthly retainers based on follower count and regional influence. Total influencer earnings ranged from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 80 lakh,' explained B Sai Sri, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, Cybercrimes. The DCP highlighted the severe consequences for victims, which often include suicide and depression. Entire life savings are frequently exhausted within weeks, many individuals become trapped in serious debt, and affected families face severe mental health crises.

Medchal DCP emphasises accountability in crime review
Hyderabad: Medchal Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) N Koti Reddy of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Tuesday conducted a monthly crime review meeting. The session concluded with a strong emphasis on accountability, proactive policing, and the timely disposal of cases. The DCP directed all officers to prioritise the quality of investigations and the delivery of citizen services. The DCP undertook a detailed review of 'Under Investigation' (UI) cases, both grave and non grave, including those registered prior to 2023 and during the first half of 2024. Progress on these cases, particularly those handled by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), and the distribution of Case Diary (CD) files were thoroughly evaluated. Pendency of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) cases, Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) cases, Magisterial Cases (MC), Post mortem Examination (PME) reports, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports were all reviewed. The DCP emphasised prompt filing and close coordination for effective investigation in these crucial areas. Additionally, the performance of each police station in property detection, recovery rates, and conviction tracking was assessed. Surveillance on 'rowdy sheeters' and updates to suspect sheets for the years 2024 and 2025 were also discussed. Officers received instructions to maintain accuracy and consistency in CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems) updates and to rectify any data variations.
