
Cyberabad Commissionerate marks June 2 celebrations with gusto
Hyderabad: The 11th Telangana State Formation Day was celebrated with utmost enthusiasm on June 2 at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. The event commenced with the National Flag being unfurled by Cyberabad police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty. The Commissioner also received the Guard of Honour from the Parade Commander.
On this occasion, the commissioner emphasised the importance of collective effort in building a strong and progressive Telangana. He called upon all personnel to serve with unity, dedication, and renewed energy. 'By giving our best in every role, we can make a meaningful impact and uphold the true spirit of service,' he stated. He concluded by extending his best wishes to all, saying, 'I hope you achieve great success in your career.'

VP Dhankhar arrives in Shimla on two-day visit
Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is on a two-day visit to Himachal Pradesh, reached Shimla on Friday. Dhankhar was given a rousing reception upon his arrival at the Annandale helipad in Shimla on Friday. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended a warm welcome to the Vice-President at the helipad. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and public works minister Vikramaditya Singh, who has been designated as the Minister-in-Waiting for the Vice-President's visit, were present on the occasion. At Raj Bhawan, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented on his arrival. The Vice President is staying at Raj Bhawan. Dhankhar will go to Dr YS Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University located in Nauni, Solan on Saturday where he will participate in a dialogue program. Long traffic jam witnessed in Shimla The Vice-President came to Annadale in Shimla by helicopter from Chandigarh. From here he reached Raj Bhawan directly by road. In view of this, traffic was stopped from Annadale to Raj Bhavan via AG Chowk-CTO between 11 am and 11.45 am. During this, a long line of vehicles was formed behind Annadale towards Baluganj. In view of Dhankhar's visit, barricading has also been done on Shimla's Mall Road.

Telangana State Formation Day celebrated at Raj Bhavan
Vijayawada: Governor S Abdul Nazeer was the chief guest at 11th Telangana State Formation Day celebrations held at Durbar Hall at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, organised under 'Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat' programme. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said Hyderabad city, the capital city of Telangana is popularly known as 'Pearl City' and the State has been for a long time, a meeting place of diverse languages and culture and the best example of India's composite culture, pluralism and inclusiveness. He said the region is well-known for its Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb and the State's capital city - Hyderabad is often called a 'miniature India' and it is an important cultural hub of the Indian sub-continent. The Governor said celebration of occasions like the Telangana Formation Day, brings people of different States together and gives us an opportunity to know each other in a better perspective and the 'Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat' programme aims to forge a strong relationship and bonding among all the people of the country, and promote mutual understanding between different States and Union Territories, through the concept of oneness. The programme commenced with a video message of Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana, followed by rendering of a melodious fusion song by Jai Sai Vaishnavi, traditional Telangana dance performance by Padma Priya, Divya Rani, Bindu Madhavi, Roja, Prathiba and Madhavi Reddy. Dr M Hari Jawaharlal, Secretary to Governor, officials and staff members of Raj Bhavan, students from Telangana State studying in educational institutions in and around Vijayawada, attended the programme.

Mumbai court grants interim protection to two accused in Mithi desilting scam
The Mumbai Sessions Court on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to Deepak Mohan and Kishore Menon of Matprop Company, who have been named in the Rs 65 crore Mithi river desilting scam FIR. The case is currently under investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).The FIR, originally registered with the Azad Maidan police and later transferred to the EOW, names 13 individuals including three Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials and five contractors. The accused allegedly joined hands to defraud the BMC through irregularities in the desilting, transportation, and dumping of sludge from the Mithi river between 2021–22 and 2022– the Matprop executives, Advocates Hrishikesh Mundargi and Paavani Chadha argued before the court that their clients were merely suppliers of machinery used in the desilting operations. They also informed the court that the accused had complied with a notice issued under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to appear before the Investigating Officer (IO) on May 10, 2025, and had done so accordingly. Session Judge NG Shukla, taking note of the submission that the accused had cooperated with the investigation, directed that 'no coercive steps' be taken against them until further orders. The court further instructed the accused to continue cooperating with the probe and attend any summons by the investigating SIT is currently examining an extensive Rs 1,100 crore expenditure made on the Mithi river desilting project between 2005 and 2021 to identify broader financial irregularities. The court has directed the police to submit their response to the petition by June 12, case is part of a larger probe into alleged financial mismanagement and corruption linked to one of Mumbai's most critical flood-prevention infrastructure projects.
