C.J. Kayfus' first homer helps Guardians streak past White Sox again
Cantillo (3-2) allowed one run on four hits over 5 2/3 innings for Cleveland, which has won nine of its last 10. Cantillo walked two and struck out three.
Nic Enright, Hunter Gaddis and Erik Sabrowski combined for 2 1/3 scoreless innings before Cade Smith retired the White Sox in order in the ninth for his fifth save.
Michael A. Taylor hit a solo homer for Chicago, which was held to four hits and lost its sixth straight.
Cleveland took a 1-0 lead in the first against Sean Burke (4-9) when Kyle Manzardo's two-out single drove in Steven Kwan, who doubled to begin the game.
Taylor tied the game with two outs in the second when he deposited Cantillo's first pitch over the left-center field wall for his eighth homer of the season.
The Guardians regained the lead with a run in the fourth when Kayfus drew a leadoff walk and raced around to score on Brayan Rocchio's double.
Burke gave up two runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings.
The White Sox put runners on the corners with one out in the fifth, but Cantillo escaped unscathed as Edgar Quero struck out and Luis Robert Jr. grounded into a fielder's choice.
Cleveland tacked on an insurance run with Kayfus' leadoff homer in the sixth against Bryan Hudson. The 23-year-old Kayfus turned on a 2-0 fastball for his first long ball since being promoted to the majors on Aug. 2.
Chicago threatened with two runners on in the eighth before Mike Tauchman grounded into an inning-ending double play.
The White Sox have lost 12 of their last 13 meetings with the Guardians, dating back to July 4, 2024. Taylor had two hits for Chicago, which went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

ESPN's Laura Rutledge is adding an extra duty onto her plate in the fall as her football season is set to get just a bit longer. Rutledge, who is the host of the network's daily pro football show 'NFL Live', is set to make a move to the sidelines for 'Monday Night Football' each week. Rutledge, age 36, will still keep her roles as the host of 'NFL Live' and 'SEC Nation' The 36-year-old Rutledge, who has previously won Miss Florida, worked a few games as a second sideline reporter for MNF in the past. She also gave plenty of credit to Salters for her help to grow her skillset. 'To even see my name next to Lisa Salters, is an honor,' Rutledge said in a 2024 ESPN Front Row profile. 'For years now, she has been such a wonderful mentor and friend to me.' Rutledge is now on track to be on the sidelines when ESPN broadcasts Super Bowl LXI in 2027 from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It's set to be the first time that ESPN will ever broadcast the Super Bowl. In addition to the promotion, Rutledge will still host 'NFL Live' as well as 'SEC Nation' on Saturday mornings prior to each week's college football slate.

US sprinter Kerley provisionally suspended for whereabouts failures
NEW YORK, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Olympic 100 metres silver and bronze medallist Fred Kerley has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit for whereabouts failures, the organisation said on Tuesday. The 2022 World Champion in the 100m withdrew from the U.S. track and field trials late last month, writing on social media that he was: "Taking some time out to get back on track." "The 100m should be a straight sprint. 2025 has presented many hurdles," he wrote on X. "Thanks to all my supporters." His representative was not immediately available to comment.

ESPN adds second sideline reporter to 'MNF' teams
August 12 - ESPN is adding a second voice to its "Monday Night Football" broadcast teams for the 2025 season. The network said Tuesday that longtime NFL studio host and reporter Laura Rutledge will join Lisa Salters on the sidelines for all 20 games that feature Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth. ESPN also announced a contract extension for Salters, who has been with ESPN and ABC since 2000 and will enter her 14th season on the "Monday Night Football" broadcast. Rutledge signed an extension earlier this year, and she will continue to host "NFL Live" and the Saturday morning show, "SEC Nation." The second ESPN crew also is gaining a pair of permanent sideline reporters -- Peter Schrager, previously a sideline reporter with Fox and NFL Network, and Katie George, who has been a top ESPN and ABC college football sideline reporter. They are joining the team of Chris Fowler, Dan Orlovsky and Louis Riddick on weeks when there are two Monday night games. ESPN is beginning to put all of its pieces in place as it prepares to host its first Super Bowl -- Super Bowl LXI on Feb. 14, 2027. The "Monday Night Football" season kicks off Sept. 8 when the Minnesota Vikings meet the Bears in Chicago, with the Buck-Aikman crew on the call.
