Wayne's Bree Hall to join Caitlin Clark, drafted No. 20 overall in 2nd round to Indiana Fever
Hall, a two-time national champion, helped lead the Gamecocks to four straight Final Four appearances.
As the No. 1 seed in this year's women's NCAA Tournament, Hall and South Carolina saw their shot at a three-peat spoiled by No. 2 seed UConn in the national title game.
Hall, a 2021 Wayne graduate, is a former Penn Station Athlete of the Year winner, McDonald's All-American, Naismith All-America Honorable Mention selection and the 2021 Ohio Basketball Coaches Association Ms. Basketball winner.
The 6-foot guard was apart of four consecutive SEC regular season titles and three straight SEC Tournament championships with South Carolina.
Hall started in all 37 games played during the Gamecocks' perfect 38-0, undefeated National Championship season in 2024.
She finished her college career at South Carolina averaging 5.8 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per contest and a total of 105 assists and 61 steals in four season.
Hall was ranked as the No. 5 guard and No. 14 overall player in the class of 2021. She finished as Wayne's all-time leading scorer and led the program to its first state quarterfinal appearance in 2021.
She was also the GWOC's Player of the Year in 2021.

Paige Bueckers responds to Sophie Cunningham's officiating criticisms
Paige Bueckers essentially responded to criticism from fellow WNBA star Sophie Cunningham with a shrug. Following the Indiana Fever's one-point loss to Bueckers and the Dallas Wings earlier this week, Cunningham publicly lamented what she believed were favorable calls for the former UConn point guard. 4 Paige Bueckers guarded by Sophie Cunningham on Aug. 1. AP Bueckers scored 16 points but only attempted four free throws in the win. 'I love Paige to death, do not get me wrong. I think she's a hell of a player and would love to play with her one day, but those refs were giving her every whistle last night,' Cunningham said Wednesday on her 'Show Me Something' podcast. 'You literally couldn't touch her, couldn't touch her. That s–t is so annoying to me. 'And if you're going to do that, then give it to our guards. I just hate the inconsistency.' Asked for her response before Friday's 97-96 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, Buckers told reporters, 'Everyone is entitled to their own unique personal opinion.' Bueckers, the first overall pick in the 2025 draft, is averaging 18.8 points and 5.4 assists in her first 27 WNBA games. 4 Bueckers (l) and Cunningham (r) battle for a rebound. Cunningham caused a stir on social media Friday by posting two photos on social media on Friday, one with her and goats and the other with her and Clark having a fun moment. Kai Asakura vs. Tim Elliott prediction, pick, start time for UFC 319
Kai Asakura and Tim Elliott meet in the main card opener of UFC 319 at United Center in Chicago. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 4-2 UFC main cards, 2025: 80-60-1 Kai Asakura vs. Tim Elliott UFC 319 preview Former Rizin champ Asakura (21-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) enters his second UFC fight. In his debut at UFC 310, Asakura challenged Alexandre Pantoja for the flyweight title, but came up short, losing by submission in the second round. His UFC signing came after back-to-back finishes of Yuki Motoya and Juan Archuleta under the Rizin banner. ... Elliott (20-13-1 MMA, 9-11 UFC) will look to stay in the winner's circle in his first fight since December 2023, when he defeated Su Mudaerji by submission in the opening round. Kai Asakura vs. Tim Elliott UFC 319 expert pick, prediction The paid portion of the card kicks off with a solid flyweight matchup between two former title contenders, Tim Elliott and Kai Asakura. It's nice to see the matchmakers not following their usual modus operandi of burying men's flyweight fights on the prelims, so credit where it's due there. Regardless of the outcome of this contest, I hope we can see more of Asakura's game and how it translates to the cage, especially considering how tough his first assignment was in his promotional debut. I'll also be curious to see how Asakura handles a UFC-level southpaw, seeing as how we've seldom seen him against notable lefties prior. Elliott is certainly past his prime on paper, but the American's doggedness and grapple-heavy style remain a stern test for anyone trying to climb the ranks of this division. Even though Elliott's durability could finally give way via a flying knee or something, I still suspect he has enough in the tank to give Asakura a hard three frames of fighting. It's a risky pick, but I'll side with Elliott to survive some scary spots en route to dogging out a competitive decision on the scorecards. Kai Asakura vs. Tim Elliott UFC 319 odds The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the Japanese fighter, listing Asakura -330 and Elliott +265 via FanDuel. Kai Asakura vs. Tim Elliott UFC 319 start time, how to watch As the main card opener, Asakura and Elliott are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 10:10 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

Napheesa Collier 'not likely' to play in Saturday's Lynx-Liberty matchup after upgrade to 'doubtful'
Napheesa Collier is "not likely" to play in Saturday's matchup between the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty, head coach Cheryl Reeve told reporters, via the New York Post's Madeline Kenney. Collier's injury status was upgraded from "out" to "doubtful," the team announced Friday which led to speculation that she could possibly play. The Lynx star has missed the team's past three games with a sprained right ankle. The injury was expected to sidelined her for at least two weeks, so the change in her status follows that timeline. Being upgraded to doubtful meant she would probably still miss Saturday's game. Nonetheless, it's an encouraging sign for her return. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] At 27-6, the Lynx have the WNBA's best record, six games ahead of the Atlanta Dream and 6.5 in front of the Liberty. Minnesota has already clinched a playoff spot. Prior to her injury, Collier was building a strong case to win WNBA MVP. She's the league's leading scorer, averaging 23.5 points per game in addition to 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks. Last season, she finished as runner-up in MVP voting to the Las Vegas Aces' A'ja Wilson while winning Defensive Player of the Year honors. While no timetable for Collier's return has been announced, Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve told reporters that the star forward is "progressing well" and expected to return before the end of the regular season. Including Saturday's contest, the Lynx have 12 games remaining on their regular-season schedule. Saturday's game between the Lynx and Liberty is the second of three consecutive matchups between the two teams, alternating between New York and Minnesota in a curious quirk of the WNBA schedule. The Lynx won the first meeting on July 30, 100-93, with Collier scoring 30 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Sabrina Ionescu led all scorers with 31 points for the Liberty. The Lynx and Liberty played for the WNBA championship last season, with New York winning the Finals in five games. The two teams could be on the path to a rematch.
