Fact Check: Posts claim Green Bay Packers rejected ad for Musk's Tesla electric vehicles at Lambeau Field. Here are the facts

Claim:
The Green Bay Packers rejected an ad for tech billionaire Elon Musk's Tesla electric vehicles at Lambeau Field.
Rating:
A rumor that circulated online in May 2025 claimed the Green Bay Packers rejected an advertisement for Tesla CEO Elon Musk's electric-vehicle company at the team's historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Snopes received email from readers asking about the rumor. One reader inquired, "Is the claim that the Packers rejected a Tesla ad the truth?" Another reader asked, "Is there any validity to the claim that the Green Bay Packers rejected Elon Musk's Tesla ad at Lambeau Field?"
On May 11, a Facebook page named Green and Gold Legacy posted (archived), "HOLY S***: Green Bay Packers Reject Elon Musk's Tesla Ad at Lambeau Field! Packers Give Elon Musk a Very Good Reason for Rejection…"
(Green and Gold Legacy/Facebook)
That post and several others each included page manager comments that linked to articles hosted on generic-looking WordPress blogs. For instance, the Green and Gold Legacy page displayed a link to an article on the blog tintinhthanh.online. The story reported the Packers supposedly rejected the offer because they believed "associating with Tesla at Lambeau Field did not align with their core values or the expectations of their deeply loyal fanbase." The article also cited the Packers' alleged concerns about the safety of Tesla vehicles.
However, searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo and Google found no news media outlets reporting on this matter. Rather, the story of the Packers rejecting a Tesla ad — or being offered the chance to promote any such ad in the first place — was false.
A representative for the Packers communications team had not yet responded to a request for comment by publication time.
Much like the posts promoting the false claim about the Packers, posts from similar Facebook pages claimed other NFL teams also rejected Musk's Tesla ad, including the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys. Additionally, Facebook pages promoted the rumor about rejecting Musk's ad for leagues other than the NFL, including the NHL's Winnipeg Jets, MLB's Detroit Tigers and NCAA college football's Ohio State Buckeyes. In other words, the people promoting such rumors simply created posts for numerous teams to increase their chances of one of the posts taking off and virally spreading.
The posts promoting the rumor each included a link in the first comment leading to an article on an ad-filled blog. Scans of the tintinhthanh.online article with the artificial intelligence-detection websites Copyleaks, QuillBot and ZeroGPT concluded it was extremely likely that someone generated the text using one or more AI tools.
People in countries outside the U.S. target Americans with false rumors such as these with the goal of making money, specifically seeking to earn advertising revenue from the generic-looking WordPress blogs that host the articles featured in the Facebook comments. For example, the page transparency tab for the Green and Gold Legacy Facebook page lists its manager as residing in Vietnam, and the tintinhthanh.online website displays numerous ads in several different placements on its pages. The Facebook page managers possibly also seek to build up their social media follower count with the promotion of inauthentic content in order to one day sell the pages for additional revenue.
For further reading, a previous fact check examined another false rumor originating from the same kind of inauthentic sports-focused Facebook pages alleging the NBA, NCAA, NFL, NHL or other organizations fired referees for bribery or other misconduct.

You Can't Give Teslas Away These Days, but Tesla's Actually Trying To

Free car giveaways are typically associated with TV game shows, radio sweepstakes, or halftime contests, but right now there's one being hosted directly by an automaker. By participating in Tesla's 'TeslaVision' contest, you could score a brand-new Model Y and a private tour of the Texas Gigafactory. In 2017, Tesla held 'Project Loveday,' a video contest named after a 10-year-old fan of the brand who wrote a letter to CEO Elon Musk suggesting that customers submit promotional video clips to make up for the company's lack of traditional advertising. That contest received thousands of submissions and was eventually won by none other than YouTube superstar Marques Brownlee. The TeslaVision Contest Now, Tesla is holding the TeslaVision contest as a follow-up to Project Loveday. According to the company, it's here 'to commemorate launching deliveries of New Model Y in all continents where we operate.' That new Model Y is the so-called Juniper version, which arrived earlier this year sporting hardware updates, a remodeled interior, and a Cybertruck-esque headlight bar. So, the TeslaVision contest—it is, in Tesla's words, 'a global celebration and showcase of the owners and fans who have always recognized the true value and impact of our products.' To participate, submit a video no longer than 90 seconds 'showing how Tesla vehicles give you more in your life—more freedom, more safety, more fun, more convenience.' That video must then be posted to YouTube and shared on X and Instagram with Tesla's accounts tagged, and then those links uploaded in the contest submission form on Tesla's site. In addition to the Model Y winner, two runners-up will get an all-expenses-paid private tour of the Gigafactory outside of Austin, Texas, which produces some Model Ys and every Cybertruck. We Have Some Thoughts Acclaimed as America's best-selling EV, one might imagine that the Model Y is in such high demand that it wouldn't be so available as to be offered up as a giveaway. Evidently, however, Tesla has enough idle inventory to make one the grand prize in the TeslaVision contest. The EV innovator has faced harsh backlash due to CEO Musk's controversial involvement in Donald Trump's presidential administration. It's possible that the TeslaVision contest is being held to gather and then promote positive takes from Tesla fans who remain unbothered by Musk's drastic social impact, and are uninterested in the numerous other EVs from brands that don't have the contentious symbolism that Tesla now does, in addition to potentially longer range, faster charging, better quality, greater comfort, prettier styling, or higher performance. To wit, we question how a video could be created under Tesla's suggested parameters. Regarding 'freedom,' the advantage Tesla once held by keeping its widespread Supercharger network exclusive to its own cars is slipping away as other EVs gain access, allowing rivals to also enjoy road trip ease. Regarding safety, the 2025 Model Y scores the highest five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, as a plethora of other EVs do, but it no longer qualifies for IIHS Top Safety Pick as it did in years past. Furthermore, how Tesla's flagship Full Self-Driving (FSD) software has a propensity to make errors such as veering across a solid double yellow line into the oncoming lane of traffic makes safety seem tenuous at best. About fun, in our testing and assessments we've found Tesla vehicles don't have much to offer beyond the common EV attribute of quick straight-line acceleration, while rivals have superior chassis and handling refinement. To convenience, the spacious cabin, frunk and sub-trunk, and minimalistic layout found in Tesla vehicles contribute to that measure. However, the experience with MotorTrend 's 2023 Model Y long-term review car has often proved incredibly frustrating, such as the finicky flush-mounted exterior door handles, which often do nothing because the car doesn't recognize its smartphone app-based key, or how the cruise control can deactivate when using the windshield washers, or how, for now, using an adapter is necessary to charge on public Level 2 plugs. Hmm, maybe we wouldn't win this contest... positive thoughts! We should also point out the incongruity between asking fans and owners—many of whom likely already own a Model Y, given its ubiquity—to get excited about winning another one. If you're super excited about Tesla and want to show the company just how great you think it is and win a Model Y, you can submit your video clip to the TeslaVision contest website. Act soon, since the contest closes on July 17, 2025 or when 10,000 entries are received, whichever comes first.

WATCH: Ohio State football player, staffer compete in three-point shooting contest In case you haven't noticed, the Ohio State football program is passing the time during a slow summer by competing in some "June Olympics." It's a competition of different athletic competitions between the OSU staff and the players, and so far it's been a hoot to watch it all go down. The staff got out to an early lead, but the players won three events in a row to take a 3-1 lead before the older guys trimmed the lead to 3-2. And now, after the latest event, a three-point shooting contest between OSU staffer Matt Guerrieri and wide receiver Bryson Rodgers, things are all tied up. That's because Guerrieri battled through some suspect shots to bury the one that mattered, giving the staff the win and even the competition at 3-3. If you missed any of the action, get a look at the cliff notes version of what went down on the courts of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. We're not sure when these June Olympics are over, or how many events there are, but it's fun to watch and keep up with, so we'll do our best to stay on top of it. We say, go old guys. Elon Musk's favorability among Republicans dropped 16 points since March, Quinnipiac says

Elon Musk's official role in the Trump administration recently came to an end. Many Republicans won't be sad to see less of him, according to the results of Quinnipiac University's latest public opinion survey. While a majority of Republicans still hold a favorable view of Musk, the number fell to 62% in the poll out Wednesday, down from 78% in March, Quinnipiac said. Overall, the Quinnipiac poll found that 30% of self-identified voters surveyed in the U.S. hold a favorable opinion of Musk, according to polling from June 5 to June 9. Republican and Democratic voters remain deeply divided in their views of the world's richest man, who contributed nearly $300 million to propel President Donald Trump back to the White House. Only 3% of Democrats surveyed said they held a favorable of view of the Tesla CEO, who was once seen as an environmental leader appealing to liberal values. Musk didn't respond to a request for comment. Musk and Trump had a very public falling out last week that started with Musk's disapproval of the president's spending bill and escalated into an all-out war of words that played out on social media. Musk said on Wednesday that he regretted some of the posts he made about Trump last week, adding that "they went too far." Even with a slide in his favorability, Musk is still popular among Republicans after his time running the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an effort to dramatically slash the size of the federal government. Among the Republican respondents to the early June poll, 80% rated Musk and DOGE's work as either excellent or good, while 13% said it was either not so good or poor. In the March poll, 82% of Republicans surveyed said they thought Musk and DOGE were helping the country. Read the full survey results here.
