Crown Prince of Fujairah witnesses launch of first fully digital government service centre in emirate
The centre, inaugurated by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, represents a pioneering model at the national level for delivering smart, interconnected government services that rely entirely on artificial intelligence, virtual reality, metaverse, and blockchain technologies, without direct human intervention.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Al Sharqi said, 'Today, we take pride in launching the virtual digital services centre in Fujairah, which embodies the vision of our wise leadership toward building a future-ready government founded on innovation. This centre contributes to enhancing quality of life and facilitating services for citizens and residents alike. It stands as an advanced model of smart government services and reflects the ability of our national institutions to adopt and effectively leverage cutting-edge technologies—affirming the UAE's pioneering position in the field of digital government transformation.'
H.H. the Crown Prince of Fujairah added, 'We applaud the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in developing an integrated digital service infrastructure that enhances government efficiency, improves the customer experience, and supports sustainable development in Fujairah, which continues to actively contribute to the nation's progress.'
Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry, said, 'The centre represents a transformational shift in the delivery of government services, offering a groundbreaking experience built on artificial intelligence and hologram technology. This model is scalable across all emirates, enhancing the UAE's global competitiveness in the digital domain. Launching the centre in Fujairah reflects the leadership's vision of promoting balanced development and is a practical step within the Ministry's efforts to build a human-centred, interconnected government services ecosystem aligned with the goals of the 'We the UAE 2031' vision and the shift toward smart government.'
He affirmed that the launch of the centre aligns with the National Strategy for Government Services, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. This strategy aims to position the UAE as a global benchmark for the most efficient and innovative government services, translating the wise leadership's directives for the UAE to be number one globally in government service delivery.
Eng Mohammed bin Taliah, Chief of Government Services in the UAE Government, explained that the centre represents a pivotal step in the government's digital transformation journey and reflects government entities' ability to adopt the latest digital innovations to deliver an exceptional customer experience that aligns with the country's aspirations of delivering world-class services.
He said, 'The centre serves as an advanced interactive platform for enabling customers to directly contribute to developing government services through innovative channels that allow them to submit their suggestions and feedback. This fosters integration among government entities, promotes a culture of community engagement, and establishes a flexible government environment capable of responding promptly to evolving needs.'
The launch of the Digital Services Centre is part of the Ministry's broader plan to expand this innovative model across the UAE, in align with the UAE Government Services Strategy, and the Government Services Development Guide 2.0. The centre offers over 150 digital services, aiming to serve more than 20,000 users annually.
Integrating smart systems that enhance operational efficiency and support data-driven decision-making, the centre provides a wide range of services from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in addition to a set of services from federal and local partner entities in the Emirate of Fujairah—offered through a unified and fully integrated digital experience. This contributes to simplifying procedures, saving time and effort, and improving quality of life, in line with the smart government approach that places people at the heart of its priorities.
To mark the inauguration of the centre, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in collaboration with Emirates Post, has issued a commemorative stamp honouring H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

What a good AI policy should include To mitigate these risks, having an internal AI policy helps protect information by forbidding the upload of confidential data to public AI platforms, requiring proper testing of any third-party AI tools before use, and making sure AI-generated outputs are reviewed carefully to avoid leaking protected information. It is also important to remember that AI is not neutral; it can reflect and even amplify human biases. If AI is used in decision-making, like screening candidates or creating marketing materials, it could unintentionally introduce unfairness or exclusion. A good AI policy should encourage ethical use, focusing on fairness, transparency, and accountability. Incorporating these ethical standards into company governance not only reduces legal exposure but also fosters trust among clients, customers, and employees. An AI policy is not intended to restrict innovation but to support it responsibly. When employees understand which AI tools are approved and how to use them safely, they can experiment and innovate without risking legal or reputational harm. By establishing clear guidelines instead of harsh restrictions, the policy empowers staff to automate routine tasks, explore new customer solutions, and enhance productivity and quality while effectively managing risks. South Africa's steps toward AI regulation Around the world, AI regulations are developing rapidly. The European Union's AI Act, for instance, establishes strict rules for high-risk AI systems. While South Africa does not yet have specific AI legislation, regulators and industry groups are closely monitoring responsible AI usage, especially in sensitive sectors like finance, healthcare, and government. The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) is leading the way on AI regulation in South Africa. After launching their National AI Plan, the DCDT has advanced further by publishing the South African National AI Policy Framework. This demonstrates their ongoing commitment to establishing a comprehensive national AI policy. Implementing an AI policy is more than a forward-thinking move — it's a critical defence against the real and rising risks of AI misuse, from data leaks and compliance breaches to reputational harm. A clear policy empowers your team to innovate responsibly while protecting your business from costly mistakes. It also signals to international clients and partners that your business meets global standards for ethics and compliance — an increasingly important trust marker in today's connected economy. EDGE signs agreements with Hungary's 4iG SDT
EDGE, one of the world's leading advanced technology and defence groups, and 4iG Space and Defence Technologies (SDT), one of the leading telecommunications, IT, and space and defence industrial groups in Hungary and the Western Balkans, have signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to establish significant and expansive industrial cooperation between the UAE and Hungary. During an official UAE state visit to Hungary, EDGE and 4iG SDT signed three MoUs aimed at enabling a broad technology partnership to jointly develop, localise, and market advanced defence systems, including EDGE's SKYKNIGHT air defence missile system, SHADOW 25 and SHADOW 50 loitering munitions, and VEGA and ORION unmanned air traffic control solutions. Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO, EDGE, said, 'Our goal with partners such as 4iG SDT is to aid nations in developing and achieving advanced sovereign defence technology and industrial capabilities. The global security landscape has necessitated modernisation programmes to capitalise on the latest autonomous technology and address rapidly evolving aerial threats. This collaboration strengthens EDGE's ability to deliver competitive, NATO-compatible, and export-ready solutions, not only in support of Hungary's national objectives, but also as a gateway to deeper engagement across Europe and NATO member states.' The agreement also covers the potential establishment of a joint venture. The second agreement is focused on the potential development and production of EDGE's rapidly deployable SKYKNIGHT inner-layer air defence missile system and SHADOW line of precision-strike loitering munitions in Hungary. The final agreement is aimed at offering EDGE's VEGA uncrewed traffic management and ORION drone fleet management systems to the European market, with the potential to jointly develop air traffic control solutions. The MoU also includes the assessment of a joint venture to serve as a European development and sales hub for VEGA and ORION. Following an MoU between EDGE and 4iG SDT signed earlier this year to co-develop UAS and space technologies, the three subsequent agreements underscore EDGE's renewed commitment to strengthening ties with key European defence ecosystems and to delivering jointly developed, export-ready solutions that meet the technological and security requirements of NATO countries.
