Huawei Cloud Stack Announces Six Scenario-specific Solutions for Carriers to Drive Efficiency, Revenue Growth, and Digital Inclusion
Today, more and more carriers are transforming themselves from traditional telecommunications companies (telcos) to technology companies (or techcos). Shang Haifeng, President of the Huawei Cloud Stack Business Dept at Huawei, said: 'This [telco-to-techco] transformation is not just about adopting new technologies; it is about redefining the role of carriers in a digital-first world. At Huawei Cloud, we are proud to partner with global carriers on their journey to becoming techcos.'
In recent years, carrier transformation has typically started with an all-cloud transformation for boosting operational efficiency and enriching services for an enhanced customer experience. Johnny Lyu, CTO of International Business at Huawei Cloud Stack, said: 'Huawei Cloud Stack offers a reliable cloud foundation. Today, we are releasing six scenario-specific solutions for carriers, helping them improve the efficiency of their businesses, platforms, and services, and start a second growth curve.'
Huawei Cloud Stack's six scenario-specific solutions for carriers include three for enhancing internal operational efficiency and three out-of-the-box solutions aimed at driving external revenue growth.
Leap to Cloud to improve efficiency: FinTech: This solution supports secure, high-performance, and flexible operational capabilities for Mobile Money. It helps ensure the compliance of both mobile financial services and data while enhancing user experience for their customers.
Marketing big data: This solution offers an efficient, one-stop, cloud-native data foundation with 200 built-in data models for simplified development. It guarantees 99.999% availability on the cloud, supporting customer acquisition and retention by carriers.
AICC: A solid, centrally managed cloud foundation for Artificial Intelligence Contact Center (AICC) ensures 24/7 availability for services such as digital ambassadors for customer service, AI scheduling, and AI voice analytics.
Spark innovation with out-of-the-box solutions: Smart government: Huawei Cloud Stack provides a unified cloud operations platform, enhancing capabilities in product listing, metering and billing, and customer management. This enables better public services for both businesses and residents as well as digitalized, modernized city governance.
Smart education: This solution offers course management, remote classrooms, and exam management on the cloud. A high-concurrency, high-performance platform supports AI-generated live captions in multiple languages as well as knowledge graphs.
Cloud phone: Huawei Cloud Stack supports cloud-based virtual phones with pre-installed apps, such as gaming and office tools. These virtual phones can serve as data backups for users, with flexible permissions control, helping carriers drive 4G conversion among subscribers.
Huawei Cloud Stack, together with Orange, Zain Kuwait, iSoftStone, and ULearning, jointly launched the Telco2Techco Cloud Leap Program underpinned by six scenario-specific solutions for carriers. Focusing on 10+ innovative service scenarios, this program offers project support, marketing support, training, enablement, and more, helping carriers accelerate the transition from telcos to techcos.

Egypt, Huawei discuss expanding AI, digital healthcare collaboration
Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, held talks on Sunday with Huawei Global Chairman Benjamin Hu and his delegation to explore ways to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation within the healthcare sector, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the discussions reviewed progress on existing joint projects focused on smart healthcare solutions and digital systems. The minister emphasized the importance of accelerating implementation to fully harness the potential of advanced technologies in improving healthcare quality and operational efficiency. The two sides also discussed a proposal to launch specialized AI training programs in schools, in coordination with the Ministry of Education. The initiative would form part of the presidential human development strategy, 'A New Beginning to Build the Human,' which aims to equip young Egyptians with innovation skills aligned with global technological trends and Egypt's Vision 2030. Abdel Ghaffar commended Huawei for organizing the recent North Africa Cloud Summit, which gathered over 600 participants—including 100 international attendees—highlighting its role in promoting knowledge exchange and technology transfer in the region. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Huawei delegation extended an official invitation to the minister to attend the Huawei Connect conference in China, scheduled for September 18–20, 2025. The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Egypt's digital transformation efforts and human capital development to achieve sustainable growth.

Over 100 B Laban workers face forced transfer or termination, lawyer says
More than 100 workers for the Alexandria branches of B Laban, a multi-national dessert franchise with factories and shops across the country, say they are being forced by the company to either transfer outside the governorate or lose their jobs, their lawyer Sherif Yehia told Mada Masr. Workers in other governorates have reported a similar wave of decisions from branch managers. The incident has brought B Laban back into the media limelight after its sudden closure on the grounds of putative health and food safety violations, in a decision that the government quickly reversed which made headlines earlier this year. The company informed the workers that they would be fired if they did not comply with the transfer decisions immediately, Yehia said on Saturday. The decisions, which the lawyer described as arbitrary, were issued without prior notice, leaving the workers unable to organize their living arrangements with their families. While the company said it would grant workers benefits in exchange for moving to another governorate, 'this has not yet happened,' he added. The same group of workers have filed complaints at local Labor Ministry directorates in Agami-Hanofil and Smouha, objecting to the company's decision to force them to transfer to branches outside the governorate. Yehia also said he is preparing to file lawsuits in the coming days if solutions are not reached for workers who do not wish to transfer to the company's branches in Cairo. Responding to circulating claims that over 1,000 workers were subject to similar decisions, a B Laban statement carried by media outlets on Thursday denied that it had taken any arbitrary action to dismiss employees. It stated that it took action for the 'voluntary' transfer of 85 percent of its Alexandria-based workforce to Greater Cairo as part of a restructuring and integration process for all its factories to merge into a new centralized factory in Obour City. The move was aimed at 'doubling production capacity and implementing control and quality systems.'. In return, B Laban stated it offered employees benefits, including a 70 percent relocation allowance, a 20 percent meal allowance and free transportation. Meanwhile, legal settlements were reached for 15 percent of the employees who refused to transfer, according to the company, which added that it is 'committed to the labor law.' Employees of branches outside of Alexandria have reported similar decisions. A Cairo employee at the company's branch in Qanater al-Khayriyah told Mada Masr last week that he was forced to resign four months before the end of his contract term, in exchange for July's salary. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the worker said he was informed a decision had been made to transfer him and five colleagues at the branch to another governorate but not told which. The workers attempted to persuade management to reverse the decision but were not able to. They were informed by management only that 'the company had liquidated one of its factories in Alexandria and would purchase a plot of land to establish a large factory, and that it was redistributing its employees.' The manager of the Qanater branch, Walid Hawash, denied to Mada Masr any knowledge of news circulating about worker layoffs or transfers to other branches. Two employees at a B Laban factory in Obour City described a similar pattern earlier this year, telling Mada Masr that health violations at the factory were flagged in April, but that instead of working to address these violations, the decision was made to relocate the factory to the Fifth Settlement, a practice replicated for several other branches. The employees said at the time that dozens of workers were laid off, mostly Sudanese nationals who had been working temporarily without being granted social or health insurance, while others were transferred from locations close to their homes to distant locations, making it nearly impossible for them to continue working.

Sky AD. Developments targets major expansion in Egypt's real estate market
Sky AD. Developments is planning a significant expansion across Egypt, with the company actively pursuing new land acquisitions in both coastal areas and emerging urban centers. Abdel Rahman Agami, CEO of Sky AD. Developments, told Daily News Egypt that the firm is seeking plots ranging between 500 and 600 feddans in key strategic locations, including Egypt's growing coastal cities. 'We are open to developing multiple projects in the same area,' Agami said, highlighting the company's confidence in the region's investment potential. Agami confirmed that Sky AD. is awaiting land pricing details from Modon Ras El Hekma, the UAE-based developer overseeing allocations in the high-demand North Coast area. 'Once land allocations are made available, we will move swiftly to secure suitable plots for our upcoming projects,' he added. Last month, the company launched 'Sky North,' a major mixed-use development in Ras El-Hekma spanning 430 feddans. The project is expected to attract investments of around EGP 80bn and generate EGP 240bn in sales over the next five years. Set for completion within four years, Sky North will feature residential and commercial zones, a five-star hotel, and a 50-feddan crystal lagoon. Agami revealed that the company is currently in discussions with four leading international hotel operators to manage the hospitality component, with a final decision anticipated by year's end. The investment value of the hotel will be determined following the selection of the operating partner. In addition to its coastal ambitions, Sky AD. is targeting inland growth, particularly in Sheikh Zayed and the New Administrative Capital (NAC). The company is in the market for up to 100 feddans in Sheikh Zayed and 50 feddans in the NAC, pending upcoming land offerings by the Capital Company. Sky AD. entered the Egyptian market in 2021 and currently holds four projects in the NAC and New Cairo, with total investments approaching EGP 19bn. Looking ahead, Agami said the company is targeting EGP 10bn in sales from its Egypt portfolio in 2025, expecting record figures following the Ras El-Hekma launch.
