Influencer hits back at critics shaming her for going on vacation without kids: ‘I won't put myself last'
Ashy Bines, 36, is currently in Bali on holiday with friends. However, while on holiday, she has hit back at people who are criticizing her for not spending time with her children, Taj and Tala.
'You should be with your family'
Taking to Instagram, she said she has received comments such as 'You should be with your family,' 'Good moms don't leave their kids behind on a holiday,' 'Moms shouldn't wear that, how embarrassing' and 'Poor Steve having the kids to himself while you relax in Bali.'

'People will tell you how to live, what's wrong with you and your life, and project their own 'rules' and beliefs onto you. If you live by their rule book, you'll never feel truly happy or free to just be YOU,' she wrote on Instagram, alongside a video of her dancing and posing in an orange tube dress.
She said the truth was that Steve, her husband, is a 'incredibly supportive and a very capable, hands-on father.'
'I refuse to live my life or neglect my own needs because of what others think. I won't put myself last or stop spending time with my friends, going on holiday, or pursuing my passions just because people label me as selfish or a bad mom,' she said.

Bines, who announced the shock closure of her activewear company last year, said that being a mom didn't mean that she couldn't relax, spend time with friends, have a career, travel, be sexual or seize opportunities.
'I want my kids to see me embracing all of these aspects of life so that they understand they are normal, important, and something they should do for themselves,' she said.
'I want them to prioritize their mental health, their bodies, their energy, and their relationships with partners, friends, and anyone else who matters to them. I want them to explore life, the world, and themselves without guilt or shame. So YES, I will do all of the above and have so much fun while doing it!'
4 Bines encouraged her followers to not live by other people's rules.

Bines being away from her children isn't the only aspect of her Bali trip that has caused controversy, with images shared to Outspoken Podcast Community Facebook group appearing to show the mom riding a scooter without a helmet, Daily Mail reported.
'Ashy Bines has had two brain aneurysm surgeries of late, speaks about how thankful she is to survive on a podcast released only yesterday. But … wears no helmet while riding on the back of a motorcycle twice in Bali in the space of 24 hours,' one said.
Another said: I just can't when people do this … it makes my blood boil. So ridiculously stupid!'
news.com.au has contacted Bines for comment.
4 Bines noted that she was able to go on the trip because of her 'incredibly supportive and a very capable' husband Steve.

A health scare
In March 2024, Bines revealed she'd been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm after she was rushed to the hospital for temporarily losing her sight three times in the space of a week.
An aneurysm is the abnormal swelling or bulge in the wall of a blood vessel, according to Better Health Channel. When left untreated, aneurisms can burst and result in internal bleeding or a stroke. This can sometimes be fatal.
'[It's] pretty scary as [my husband] Steve has had a huge one removed and I also have this run in my family, already lost a young uncle and a nan to an aneurysm.'
After doctors performed the scan, she said they revealed it was unlikely the aneurysm will burst due to its size, but warned she needs to return for check-ups every three months.
'I really have to slow my life, workload and stress right down,' she explained, adding she would be putting her other commitments on hold to focus on getting better.

Plane Passenger on Night Flight Plays Videos Out Loud—Neighbor Handles It
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. When Steven Jones, a Seattle-based comedy and fashion influencer, boarded a flight from LAX to Seattle, he had already had a long and exhausting day. But, as he boarded the flight, a fellow passenger was watching videos on his phone without headphones. Jones shared the moment he confronted the man, saying: "I've been at the airport for seven hours today. I just want to get home and I don't want to be dealing with this." "This is ridiculous," he added, talking to the passenger. "This is a flight." Jones told Newsweek that the conflict began even before boarding. He noticed the man playing YouTube videos out loud in the terminal, ignoring repeated requests from nearby travelers to turn the sound down. "To my surprise, he ended up seated right next to me on the plane. He immediately started playing his YouTube news video," Jones said. The moment the influencer confronted the fellow passenger. The moment the influencer confronted the fellow passenger. @iamkingonlii/TikTok 'We All Just Wanted Him To Be Courteous' Other passengers were quick to show their frustration. The woman sitting on Jones's other side asked the man to put on headphones, only for him to respond: "I don't have any headphones; I've already turned the volume down." Despite being offered headphones multiple times, the man refused. "He wouldn't even touch them. He said that we needed to 'respect him' and that we were 'being sensitive,'" Jones added. The situation didn't stop at loud videos. During the flight, Jones said the same passenger attempted to sit in business class, assuming an empty seat was free. He was escorted back. Later, the man physically leaned against Jones in the middle seat, forcing the influencer to push him back into his own space. "I had no intention of arguing or trying to be rude to the passenger," Jones said. "We all just wanted him to be courteous and use basic flight etiquette. A lot of it is just common sense and decency." Jones's calm handling of the situation struck a chord online, and his TikTok video of the exchange has been viewed more than 5.2 million times, with an additional 1 million views on Instagram. In the comments on TikTok, people praised Jones for confronting the passenger. "Your patience is amazing sir!" said one. Another wrote: "Not wearing headphones is my BIGGEST pet peeve. Like WHO DOESN'T HAVE HEADPHONES?!" "In this situation, I thought it was best to de-escalate," Jones said, adding that his goal was to highlight the importance of simple etiquette while traveling. Newsweek reached out to the airline via email for comment.

Alicia Vikander on Making Her London Stage Debut, Battling Mom Guilt, and Life With Michael Fassbender
The Queen's Wood Cafe in Highgate, London, is one of those formerly secret places in London that used to be known only by locals and is now a star on Instagram. Built for a wood-keeper in 1898, it is like a fairy-tale cottage, emerging unexpectedly from the trees around it, covered in fading bunting and twinkling lights. I've suggested it as a quiet place to meet, but Alicia Vikander already knows it. 'I used to come here with the kids,' she says with a smile, as she goes to the counter to buy us both a coffee. She may have been born in Sweden and since settled in Portugal, but a big part of her heart belongs to north London, where she lived for many years. She's here at the moment because she is about to make her first appearance onstage since she was a teenager, opposite Andrew Lincoln at the Bridge Theatre, in director Simon Stone's radical reimagining of The Lady From the Sea by Henrik Ibsen. For nearly 15 years Vikander, 36, has been a fixture on screens, bringing her delicate yet exacting talent and endless versatility to bear on films that range from historical biopic (Testament of Youth) to sci-fi (Ex Machina) to blockbuster action (Tomb Raider and Jason Bourne). She was 27 when she won an Oscar for The Danish Girl, and with it global renown. 'Alicia is the most formidable actor,' says Eddie Redmayne, her costar in that film. 'She has this dumbfounding and unique mix of physical, tangible technique. I don't know if that stems from her rigorous ballet and dance background mixed with complete abandon and freedom in the moment.' Wearing a black Toteme coat—'very Swedish'—against an early summer breeze, with her Louis Vuitton (she's a brand ambassador) handbag on the table between us, she flings herself into our conversation with enthusiasm and intelligence. She is excited and a little terrified about her latest role. The Lady From the Sea, one of Ibsen's most mysterious and allusive plays, centers on the figure of Ellida, a lighthouse keeper's daughter with a maritime obsession. In the original, she is married to a doctor and haunted by the death of her infant son, when a sailor from her past, a man who had asked her to wait for him, returns to claim her. (A caveat: since Stone has a reputation for completely rethinking classic plays, any resemblance to the original is likely to be tangential.)
