Dubai is constantly changing and it's no surprise that you can sometimes miss an update or two.
Major Dubai changes are announced all the time, often a long time in advance, which is why we've rounded up the biggest changes to note that will arrive in July.
In July, we'll enjoy a public holiday, some will see the benefit of a four-day working week, and there's even a brand-new law coming into play.
Dubai changes in July
Dubai's four-day working week begins (for some)
Dubai will introduce a four-day working week and reduced hours for public sector workers from Tuesday July 1.
It follows a successful initial trial scheme first introduced in 2024 for those working for government entities.
Running until Friday September 12 2025, the scheme is designed to allow employees to have a greater work-life balance during the hotter months.

A new public health law is coming into force
Rolling out in July, there is a new public health law that was issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE back in April.
Law No. (5) of 2025 on Public Health in Dubai seeks to minimise health risks by stopping the spread of illnesses and putting restrictions on travel for those with confirmed communicable diseases.
The new law states that any travellers must adhere to official health protocols, provide requested information at Dubai's entry points and report any suspected or confirmed communicable diseases.
Anyone who is infected or suspected of having a communicable disease must avoid contact that could spread their illness. The new law states that you must refrain from travelling or moving, except to healthcare facilities, without the approval of the Dubai Health Authority.

When is the next public holiday after Islamic New Year?
Following the announcement of the Islamic New Year public holiday date in 2025, it's time to look ahead to the next public holiday after the three-day long weekend. The long weekend will kick off on Friday June 27 for all employees in the United Arab Emirates, giving us a bumper break. And we'll need to savour the time off as we're not due to get another public holiday in the UAE for another three months. After Islamic New Year comes The Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH), according to the official public holiday law introduced at the start of 2025. Predicted to fall on Friday September 5 in 2025, people living in Dubai and the rest of the UAE are in line for another three-day long weekend when the celebration arrives. (Credit: Shutterstock) The Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birthday, celebrated during Rabi Al-Awwal – the third month of the Islamic calendar – is widely recognised across many Islamic nations, including those in the Gulf region. If Rabi' Al-Awwal begins on Monday August 25, then the Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH) should fall on Friday September 5. This would give Dubai residents a three-day long weekend when combined with Saturday and Sunday. But if Rabi' Al-Awwal begins on Sunday August 24, then Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH) should fall on Thursday September 4. This would give Dubai residents an additional day off during the working week. However, following the introduction of the UAE public holiday law at the start of 2025, the date of Islamic holidays can be moved to the start or end of the week if the cabinet decides to move it. This means that regardless of whether or not the occasion of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH) falls on a Thursday or a Friday, we'll likely get a three-day long weekend. This shifting of dates was first used to announce the Islamic New Year public holiday ahead of schedule.
