Man, 72, missing after leaving Markham home: police

Police are searching for a 72-year-old man last seen leaving his home in Markham on Tuesday.
The man, identified as Baudilio, left his residence on Orr Farm Road, near Reflection Road and Victoria Square Boulevard at 7 p.m., York Regional Police said in a news release Wednesday.
He has not returned home or contacted his family, police said.
Police said Baudilio is known to frequent nearby plazas and parks.
Baudilio is described as 5-6, with a thin build, grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing, with a dark coloured vest and a tan baseball hat with a blue Polo Ralph Lauren logo.
Police have set up a command post at 2929 Elgin Mills Rd. E.

Copenhagen — One person was killed and several others injured in Denmark on Friday in a collision between a train and a farm vehicle, police said. The accident happened near Bjerndrup, in the southwest of the country, according to a police statement. Police did not give details on the seriousness of the injuries, but did say that two people had been flown from the scene by helicopter. The national rail agency Banedanmark wrote on X that the collision had happened at a railway crossing. According to local media, at least two of the train carriages were derailed. The train was on the line between the capital Copenhagen and Sonderborg, some 300 kilometres (200 miles) away. The DSB rail operator responsible for the train said that around 95 people were aboard the train, including pupils from a school in Sonderborg.

Robert Ladouceur, 52, is at the centre of a homicide investigation in Barrie, Ont., facing charges of murder and indignity to a body. Robert Ladouceur appeared in court on Friday charged with first and second-degree murder and two counts of indignity to a body in connection with a missing person report and Barrie homeless encampment investigation. Ladouceur, also known as 'Tattoo Rob,' made a virtual appearance from Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene wearing an orange jumpsuit. The 52-year-old man was arrested earlier this month and had initially been charged with 19 offences, primarily weapons and drug-related, before Barrie police announced the new charges on Thursday in connection with a homicide investigation. Additionally, the court read names of 29 people Ladouceur is prohibited from contacting, to which he replied, 'I don't even know who they are.' Police believe Ladouceur is responsible for the deaths of William 'Blake' Robinson, 45, and David Cheesequay, 41. They have not revealed a motive in the case or disclosed if it's drug-related. It's also unclear whether the men knew each other. Ladouceur remains in custody and is scheduled for his next court appearance on August 29. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
