FRU truck crash: Court issues warrant of arrest for lorry company owner
Deputy Public Prosecutor Izzuddin Fakri Hamdan filed the arrest warrant application after the individual failed to appear for today's proceedings on two charges, namely under Section 57 and Section 58 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.
Magistrate Naidatul Athirah Azman then set July 29 for mention of the arrest warrant.
It is understood that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has also sent a summons to the owner of the company to appear in court for today's prosecution proceedings.
In the incident at 8.54 am on May 13, nine members of FRU Unit 5 based in Sungai Senam, Ipoh died after the truck they were travelling in collided with a lorry loaded with gravel.
On May 30, the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) announced that it had revoked the operating licence of Tashveen Trading, the lorry company that carried the gravel load, effective May 29, 2025.
The lorry operating company was found to have failed to comply with the requirements of the Industrial Safety Code of Practice (ICOP), failed to ensure that the Global Positioning System (GPS) was functional and had expired, in addition to carrying a load that did not comply with the type of goods specified in the vehicle permit. — BERNAMA

Psychiatric examination for foreign student who ran amok with knife
KAJANG: The university student who was charged with eight counts of attempted murder and causing injury to seven victims has been ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation for one month. Sessions Court Judge Normastura Ayub and Magistrate Fatin Dayana Jalil made the ruling after allowing an application by Deputy Public Prosecutors Faelly Jeffrey Lanjungan and Siti Nur Alia Safri, who said the accused, Chinese national Liu Ting, 24, appeared confused and did not understand the charges read out. The court did not allow bail for the accused and ordered the woman to be sent to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Tanjung Rambutan in Perak for a psychiatric examination, in addition to setting case mention for Sept 19. Previously, Faelly did not offer bail because the charges against the accused were serious and non-bailable and also requested that the accused be sent to Hospital Bahagia for psychiatric evaluation. KOTA BHARU - Six Form Four students in Pasir Mas have been remanded for six days starting today to assist in the investigation of a bullying case involving another student. Pasir Mas Police Chief ACP Kama Azural Mohamed said the remand until Aug 25 was granted by the Pasir Mas Magistrate's Court. This comes after the all-male suspects, aged 16, were arrested yesterday. He said the incident occurred at 12.45 pm last Monday. The complainant alleged he was punched, elbowed on the head and kicked on the buttocks by the suspects. "One of the suspects also pulled down the complainant's sports pants to knee level," he said in a statement today. He said as a result of the incident, the victim experienced head pain and trauma related to returning to school, as the same suspects frequently harassed him. "The victim informed his parents about the matter before lodging a report at the Pasir Mas Police Station. Preliminary investigations found that all the suspects admitted to bullying the victim", he said.
