Rams reporter shares impact new Jaguars GM James Gladstone had in LA's drafts

USA Today22-02-2025

James Gladstone is the new general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and his impact on the LA Rams' draft process and results was 'astounding,' as Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic put it on an appearance on 1010XL's 'Helmets and Heels.'
After a Super Bowl season in 2021, the Rams mustered just five wins in 2022. However, over the last two years since then, they've won 10 games in back-to-back seasons with two playoff appearances, and are again back to being among the contenders in the NFC.
Playing an important role in that drastic turnaround was the Rams' success in the NFL draft during the previous two offseasons. And along with GM Les Snead, helping to lead that charge was Gladstone, the Rams' Director of Scouting Strategy.
'James Gladstone, who really is the reason the Rams overhauled their draft efforts after the 2022 season and really nailed the last two draft classes. Ten starters between the two of those draft classes and finalists each year for Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year.'

In 2023, wide receiver Puka Nacua was an Offensive Rookie of the Year award finalist. In 2024, defensive end Jared Verse won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
In addition to those selections, the Rams also drafted numerous other starters and key contributors including Steven Avila, Kobie Turner, Byron Young, and Kamren Kinchens, among others.
'It's just been astounding to watch James traffic control and strategize them through all of these new processes with Les Snead at the helm, of course, but James Gladstone has quietly been Les Snead's right hand man for many years.' Rodrigue added.
With 10 draft picks of their own this offseason, including six within the first four rounds, the Jaguars are positioned well to add some immediate high impact help, and the odds of doing that have grown with Gladstone at the helm.

Dak Prescott: I want to win a championship for my personal being, my sanity

Dak Prescott is entering his 10th season. He still is looking for his first Super Bowl title. The Cowboys quarterback has a 2-5 postseason record and has never advanced past the divisional round despite being the No. 1 seed in 2016. The franchise won its last championship in 1995. Winning a championship is personal for Prescott. 'I want to win a championship,' Prescott said, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. 'The legacy, whatever comes after I finish playing, will take care of itself. I want to win a championship. Be damned if it's just for my legacy or if it's for this team. It's for my personal being, for my sanity. The legacy will take care of itself.' In his nine seasons, Prescott is close to career franchise records for passing yards (2,746 away) and passing touchdowns (35 away). He has become the face of the franchise, and the NFL's highest-paid player. Prescott has done a lot and not enough at the same time. 'It's hard to be reflective,' Prescott said. 'I think you have to, especially with how [his 10 seasons] have been. Some being injured; some getting to knocking on the door and not finishing it. What it does really is just makes you grateful for the opportunity. Every day you get to walk into this building, you're healthy. Every day you get to approach your teammates. You get to approach this game that you love.' Prescott is returning from a torn right hamstring, which ended his 2024 season in Week 9.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have rare date night in Florida at Stanley Cup Final: Photos

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have rare date night in Florida at Stanley Cup Final: Photos It's date night in "Florida!!!" for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who were in attendance at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. The couple showed up hand-in-hand at Amerant Bank Arena for the NHL showdown between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers in Sunrise, Florida. Swift had her hair back in a braided ponytail with her signature red lip. Towering in heeled ivory boots, she donned a beige romper at the NHL matchup. Kelce had a red matching sweatshirt, shorts and red-billed cap. In a clip posted to X, the announcer said, "Musical and sporting royalty arriving." ✨ In their #StanleyCup Final era ✨ Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce knew all too well they couldn't miss Game 4 in Sunrise 🙌 — Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) June 13, 2025 During the second period of the game, the couple was even photographed sitting with hockey icon Wayne Gretzky. The outing marked a rare public date night for the couple. Kelce, 35, is in the offseason following his Super Bowl loss with the Kansas City Chiefs in February, falling short of a three-peat trophy win. Swift's in an offseason of her own, having wrapped her record-setting, nearly 150-show Eras Tour in December. The two have recently been spotted out and about in South Florida while Kelce is reportedly renting a property in Boca Raton. Over the previous weekend, the duo traveled north to make a grand appearance at Kelce's cousin Tanner Corum's wedding in Knoxville, Tennessee. The internet was flooded with various selfies and family photos Swift took with fellow guests. And, of course, the Florida date night comes on the heels of Swift's major victory in buying back the rights to all of her recordings, artwork and other materials related to her first six albums from her time with Big Machine Records, ranging from 2006's "Taylor Swift" to 2017's "Reputation." Should the Panthers win Game 4, they would just need one more win to secure their second straight Stanley Cup victory. If the Oilers from up north win, the series will see a 2-2 tie.
