Miracle on the Long Island Sound: Father, daughter safe after plane lands just off coast of New Haven
The piper 32 Cherokee plane is currently being brought to shore. The plane, which was being flown by J. Scott Edwards of Newtown, crashed into the water just miles away from Tweed New Haven Airport Sunday.
Edwards and his teenage daughter were safe after the crash with minor injuries.

The initial investigation determined the road rage incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Hartford Avenue near the Hartford city line, police said. Police said when they responded to the shot spotter activation, they located shell castings in the roadway in Newington. No injuries were reported. You can even pack sandals (like the lightweight Birkenstocks) in your carry-on to switch into on the plane if that is something you choose to do. While it is best to wear sneakers during strenuous travel days, as Dr. Edwards mentioned, supportive sandals are perfectly fine depending on the activity. Don't wear them for long activities like tours or hiking! The perfect sandal isn't going to be one-size-fits-all. Of course, you want them to be cute, but also consider two things. The other key component to this is the support. Dr. Edwards specifically recommends the sole being at least 2 centimeters. Dr. Edwards suggests two to three hours max before taking a break for rest. Doing little stretches can also help with keeping your feet up to speed while out and about. In terms of whether or not to alternate your shoes, the short answer is yes. Retiring Connecticut State Police sergeant placed on unpaid suspension after confrontation with digital creator
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Connecticut State Police sergeant was placed on unpaid suspension prior to his retirement after an internal investigation into a confrontation with a digital content creator, according to state police. Sgt. Bryan Fahey was investigated following a July 11 confrontation with a digital content creator outside Fahey's home while he was off-duty. The investigation was completed on July 24, according to Col. Daniel Loughman. Colchester woman, ex-husband sentenced over $29 million investment fraud scheme Fahey notified state police in May of his upcoming retirement, which went into effect on Aug. 1, Loughman said. In addition to the unpaid suspension, Fahey also sustained a charge of conduct unbecoming. The July 11 incident is still being investigated by the Town of Groton Police Department and the Windham State's Attorney's Office. Loughman noted state police will cooperate fully with that investigation. Additional details about the confrontation were not released by state police. Check back to News 8 for more updates.
