A heatwave accompanied by Chergui winds and severe thunderstorms, with localized hail and strong gusts, is expected from Wednesday to Saturday across several provinces in Morocco, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) announced.
Temperatures ranging between 43°C and 46°C are forecast for the provinces of Tata, Zagora, Assa-Zag, Es-Smara, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, and Aousserd throughout the four-day period, according to an orange-level weather alert issued by the DGM.
From Wednesday to Friday, temperatures are expected to range from 42°C to 44°C in the provinces of Ouezzane, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Meknès, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Khémisset, Khouribga, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Settat, Rehamna, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Marrakech, and Taroudant.
Meanwhile, temperatures between 39°C and 42°C are forecast over the same period in the provinces of Sefrou, El Hajeb, Khénifra, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tan-Tan, and Guelmim.
In addition to the high temperatures, severe thunderstorms with local hail and strong winds (15–25 mm) are expected on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the provinces of El Hajeb, Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Midelt, and Khémisset. The DGM added that similar storm activity (20–30 mm) is expected in Aousserd from 4 p.m. to midnight the same day, as part of the orange-level vigilance bulletin.

Temperatures between 39 degrees and 42 degrees are expected during the same period in the provinces of Sefrou, El Hajeb, Khenifra, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tan-Tan, and Guelmin. Thunderstorms with local hail and wind gusts between 15 and 25 millimeters of rain will visit the provinces of El Hajeb, Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Midelt, and Khemisset on Wednesday between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Weather that includes 20 to 39 millimeters of rain is also expected in Aousser from 4 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday. The weather-focused website Eldorad recently featured Ben Guerir, Kenitra, and Taroudant among the top 15 hottest places on the planet. Temperatures ranging from 41 to 44 degrees are expected on Monday and Tuesday in the provinces of Sidi Kacemm, Sidi Slimane, Larache, Kenitra, Ouezzane, Khemisset, and Sale. Skhirate-Temara will also be concerned alongside Mediouna, Nouaceur, Berrechid, Settat, Benslimane, Khouribga, Meknes, and Fez as well as Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Beni Mellal, Azilal, and Fquih Ben Salah. El Kelaa Seraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech, Sidi Bennour, Guelmim, Youssoufia, and Chichaoua will also experience temperatures between 41-44 degrees. As for Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Ouezzane, Khemisset, Khouribga, Mouay Yacoub, Taounate, Fez, Meknes, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, El Kelaa Sraghna, will experience temperatures between 41 and 44 degrees on Wednesday, and the same weather will hit Rehamna, Marrakech, and Settat. El Dorado Weather recently featured three Moroccan cities among the world's hottest places on earth, specifically citing Ben Guerir, Kenitra, and Taroudant.
