Putra Heights gas blast case classified NFA, says Selangor police chief
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said, however, the case could be reopened if new evidence or information emerges.
'We are satisfied and are closing the case for now, but it can be reopened at any time should there be new information,' he said when met after a press conference on the Selangor Narcotics Crime Investigation Department's success at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters today.
Hussein also welcomed anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and share it with the police.
Yesterday, Hussein confirmed that there were no elements of sabotage, foul play or negligence identified that could have caused damage to the gas pipeline and triggered the explosion in the Putra Heights incident on April 1.
According to him, this conclusion was based on technical investigations conducted following the explosion of the underground gas pipeline.
He said the construction of shop lots and replacement of sewer pipes in the area complied with guidelines set by the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), the Department of Environment (DOE) and Petronas. — Bernama

High-impact crash sends Perodua Aruz driver flying into Klang mangrove swamp, escapes with minor injuries
KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — A man had a lucky escape early this morning after a crash in Telok Gong, Klang flung him into a mangrove swamp. The 40-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a Perodua Aruz when his car collided with a lorry along Jalan Pelabuhan Barat at about 2.14am, according to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department. Bodies of couple, adult son found in Seremban house
SEREMBAN, July 2 — Three family members were found dead in a house in Taman Bukit Kristal near here, at about 4.53 pm yesterday. Seremban district police chief, ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said his department received information from the public regarding a foul smell coming from the locked house. 'Acting on the information, the police and fire brigade went to the house and cut the padlock of the house's gate. An inspection later found three bodies in a state of decomposition in two bedrooms of the house. 'The investigation results found that the three bodies were family members consisting of a 61-year-old man, his 59-year-old wife and their 30-year-old son,' he said in a statement here today. Mohamad Hatta said forensic examination found a cut on the right arm of the couple's son, while the parents' bodies did not show any suspicious signs. 'Also found were four knives with blood stains believed to have been used during the incident and various types of drugs were found on the table in the living room of the house,' he said. He said the three bodies were sent to the Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death. So far, the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR) while awaiting the full post-mortem report. — Bernama

O&G consultant loses RM2.7m in ‘Nova 88' investment scam
IPOH, July 2 — An oil and gas consultant lost over RM2.7 million after falling victim to a non-existent investment scheme advertised on a website. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the 37-year-old man lodged a police report on June 29 at the Ipoh district police headquarters, claiming he had been scammed through an online investment platform known as 'Nova 88.' Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim registered an account on the website in April 2023 through a contact, now the main suspect, whom he had met via WhatsApp. Convinced by the suspect, the victim made an initial deposit of RM30,000 into a provided account number and was then given a user ID and password to monitor the supposed investment. 'Between Jan 5, 2024, and May 20, 2025, the victim made 136 fund transfers to seven different accounts, totalling RM2,701,687. The funds came from his savings and contributions from family members,' Noor Hisam said in a statement last night. He said the victim realised he had been duped when each attempt to withdraw his purported profits required additional payments. To date, he has been unable to access any returns, with the suspect offering numerous excuses before eventually becoming unreachable. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. Noor Hisam advised the public to avoid any form of investment offered through unlicensed, unregistered, or unregulated websites. 'Such investments carry high risks and can lead to significant financial losses. Always verify the background of any investment company with recognised authorities such as Bank Negara Malaysia or the Securities Commission,' he said. — Bernama
