The trailer already teases one new recording from the Grammy-winning star, who appears to have covered the Belinda Carlisle classic Heaven Is A Place On Earth for the accompanying soundtrack.
In the years since her 2016 album Anti was released, Rihanna has released only a handful of new songs, instead focussing her attention on her Fenty lines of beauty and lingerie.
A year after Anti came out, she collaborated with N.E.R.D. on their song Lemon, and released the hit Wild Thoughts with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller.
More recently, she worked with PartyNextDoor on the 2020 single Believe It, and contributed the Oscar-nominated ballad Lift Me Up to the soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022.
In 2023, Rihanna headlined the Super Bowl Half-Time Show, which led to rumours that she could be about to head out on tour.
However, she later insisted that this would not be the case until she had 'new music' and… well… we're still waiting.
Smurfs is due to hit cinemas in July, boasting an all-star cast that also includes Hannah Waddingham, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, Natasha Lyonne, James Corden, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris and Nick Offerman.
The iconic blue characters last hit the big screen over a decade ago, when Rihanna's friend and fellow popstar Katy Perry lent her voice to Smurfette.

George Clooney admits ‘everyone worries about' being targeted by Trump

George Clooney, actor and prominent Democrat donor, said 'everybody' worries about being targeted by President Donald Trump's administration, but added that won't stop him from standing up for what he believes in. Since Trump was elected in November under a campaign which promised retribution, some of the president's loudest critics have put down their megaphones out of fear he may come after them next. 'Sure, everybody worries about it,' Clooney told CNN's Anderson Cooper when he was asked about it. 'But you know, if you spend your life worrying about things, then you won't do things.' 'I want to be able to look at my kids in the eye and say where we stood and what we did at certain times in history, and I have no problem with that,' he said. Although Clooney is a lifelong Democrat, he broke from the party last summer to pen an op-ed urging former President Joe Biden to drop out of the race. He subsequently supported former Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump has occasionally launched verbal attacks on Clooney, calling him a 'second-rate movie star' and a 'backstabber.' But the president has not directed his administration to open an investigation into Clooney or initiate any formal process targeting him. That doesn't mean celebrities are safe, or feel safe, from Trump's wrath. Robert DeNiro, another actor and prominent Democrat donor, told AFP that Hollywood companies fear Trump could hurt their business. "They have big businesses, they have to worry about the wrath of Trump, and that's where they have to make a decision: do I succumb to that or do I say no?" DeNiro said. Throughout show business, the anti-Trump rhetoric seems to have been dramatically turned down compared to the level it reached when Trump was elected in 2016. Even Saturday Night Live, one of Trump's biggest TV critics, had cast its line up to sarcastically praise Trump and claim to support him all along, after he won the election. So far, the president has only dipped his toe into regulating Hollywood, threatening and rescinding tariffs on foreign-made films and appointing Jon Voight and others as special ambassadors to 'fix' Hollywood. But having gone after law firms, his political opponents, media organizations, a Democrat fundraising platform, and universities, there's no telling where the president will direct his retribution next.

How Labubu bag charms became a trending fashion accessory — and sent demand skyrocketing

They're all over your social media timeline and dangling from bags on the street, prompting some consumers to stand in long lines outside stores: small plush charms called Labubus that have created a global sensation, with prices skyrocketing to over $1,000 for rare designs on resale sites like StockX amid overwhelming demand. The toy creatures can be described as kind of scary looking but also kind of cute. What is a Labubu? Artist Kasing Lung from Hong Kong introduced Labubu as literary characters from his book "The Monsters Trilogy" before the figure transformed into a worldwide collecting sensation via retailer Pop Mart's randomized packaging strategy. These toys, featuring sharp-eared designs and mischievous expressions, also now appearing prominently on secondary markets. The accessories, made by Chinese retailer Pop Mart, have been spotted on celebrities including Rihanna, Blackpink's Lisa and Dua Lipa. Actress Hilary Duff has also been photographed sporting the trendy charms. Labubus are small monster-like toys sold by Chinese retailer Pop Mart, which are sold in "blind boxes", so the buyer doesn't know what color or design the doll has until the box is opened. This element of surprise has contributed to their popularity and collectible value. The figurines have become highly sought-after merchandise among younger adult consumers. Some rare variants currently sell for more than $1,000 through digital marketplaces. Social media campaigns on TikTok and Instagram, combined with restricted production runs and surprise releases, have driven consumer interest. Created by the Chinese artist Kasing Lung, they have become very popular and hard to find collectibles among young people and celebrities. (Photo Illustration by Vincenzo Izzo/LightRocket via Getty Images) Vincenzo Izzo Demand has become so intense that TikTok users have reported having their Labubus stolen directly from their bags. "Someone stole my Labubu off my purse yesterday, it got literally snatched from my purse, and I didn't even know it," one user said in a video. "She's holding a little knife, like, you know, this pocket knife where you could just slash something off. She was literally holding it, and it was aimed at my Labubu." The theft concerns have prompted warnings among collectors. The popularity has extended internationally. In Britain, consumers have gone to extreme lengths to obtain the plush dolls, with reports of crowd shoving and fighting in long lines waiting for the collectible. The distributor has since halted in-store sales across the UK, though online purchases remain available.
