Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection day 1 early estimate: Aamir Khan's film crosses Taare Zameen Par's opening figures
Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection day 1 early estimate: Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza's much-awaited film Sitaare Zameen Par finally hit theatres on June 20. After opening to positive reviews from critics and the audience, the movie is off to a decent start at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk's early estimates, Sitaare Zameen Par has collected around Rs. 8.77 crore India net on its first day in all languages.
A spiritual sequel of Aamir Khan's 2007 hit film Taare Zameen Par, the film had a theatre occupancy of 17.73% in Hindi on Friday, with morning shows at 16.74%, afternoon shows at 16.25%, and evening shows standing at 20.21%. The highest occupancy was in the Jaipur region at 29.33 %.

Sitaare Zameen Par has fallen short of expectations, as it was predicted to earn around Rs 30 crore on day 1. However, the film may gain momentum over the opening weekend due to positive word of mouth, following a trajectory similar to Taare Zameen Par. The 2007 drama collected Rs 2.62 crore on its opening day, but it ultimately became a box office hit.
An excerpt from SCREEN's Sitaare Zameen Par review read, 'This film wouldn't have worked as well as it does if Aamir hadn't been fully committed to putting himself out there as a hero-who-is-a-jerk, letting us walk past the annoyingly noble Lal Singh Chadha character which never hit any of its marks. This is a film whose express intention is to normalise 'everyone's normal'. It doesn't shy away from being message-y –sab ka apna apna normal hota hai—but it is not, praise be, preachy.'
Directed by RS Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par also features 10 debutant actors – Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

Prosenjit Chatterjee on Sitaare Zameen Par's cinema-only move: Aamir can take risk
Aamir Khan's much-anticipated 'Sitaare Zameen Par' released in theatres on June 20. In a historic move, the superstar has decided to go cinema-only, ditching the OTT release altogether. His move has received mixed reviews from the industry, and actor Prosenjit Chatterjee admitted that such kind of changes are an exclusive chat with Chatterjee weighed in on Aamir Khan's decision. While he admitted that the need is required, he also mentioned how Khan's experience enables him to take such about Aamir Khan's 'only cinema' approach, Chatterjee said, "He can take the risk. He has been serving the industry for many years, and he understands the pulse and sensibilities of the audiences." The Jubilee actor added that while this won't halt the process, someone needed to take a step to initiate a change. Although he added that there's no good or bad to this method."I remember long back when content would be sold to CD companies, and it paid producers handsomely. However, after a year or two, I realised that the CDs were already in the market in a few days, and the theatre business was getting affected. So I called up all the producers for a meeting and we jointly decided that while the rights would be sold off, we need to have a gap of a good 9-12 weeks. All producers came together, and things changed to a certain level," the Bengali actor added that he saw the same trend when it came to films' television premieres. "In three or four weeks, they would start playing Bengali and even Hindi films on television. So, we stopped that and said let's give it after eight weeks. To save the theatrical business and cinema, he (Aamir Khan) is a person who can think this way or take this kind of risk. Nothing will change, a film will come on OTT and then on satellite television. That's how it works, that's how we reach our Indian audiences. But let's see how this goes (Sitaare Zameen Par's only-cinema model), and I hope it works."Marking Aamir Khan's return to the big screen after a three-year hiatus, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has opened to a positive response from critics and fans alike. Also starring Genelia Deshmukh, the RS Prasanna is touted as the spiritual sequel of 'Taare Zameen Par'.Meanwhile, on June 19, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan also joined Aamir at the premiere and were seen warmly interacting with the film's young supporting cast, or 'sitaare', as they are lovingly referred to Watch

Box Office: Housefull 5 gets hit by Sitaare Zameen Par on 3rd Friday; Akshay Kumar starrer netts Rs 1.50 crore
Tarun Mansukhani's Housefull 5 led by Akshay Kumar, ended 2 weeks at the Indian box office, netting Rs 151.75 crore. The movie has added Rs 1.50 crore to its tally on 3rd Friday, aided by the discount offers. The total of Housefull 5 now stands at Rs 153.25 crore net after 15 days. Saturday and Sunday should probably see the numbers double from Friday, to take the 17 day number close to Rs 158-159 crore. The movie should then slowly creep towards the finish line point of Rs 170-175 crore net. The Day Wise Box Office Collections Of Housefull 5 Are As Under Particulars India Net Collections Week 1 Rs 114.40 crore Week 2 Rs 37.35 crore 3rd Friday Rs 1.50 crore Total 153.25 crore net Housefull 5 Opened Reasonably And Did Well Over The Extended Weekend; It Faced Drops Over The Weekdays Housefull 5 opened reasonably well and did good business over the extended Bakri Eid Period. The holds of the movie were weak over the weekdays in week 1 and then the second week collections ended up being lesser than expected too. Now with new found competition in Sitaare Zameen Par, Housefull 5 has dropped by 30 percent from the previous day. If not for the big new release, the holds would have been much better. However, a release of a big new film is pretty normal when so many films are churned every year. Housefull 5 Looks At A USD 7 Million International Closing Housefull 5 looks to end its overseas run grossing an estimated USD 7 million. Given the movie opened to USD 4.25 million in 3 days, it should have done much better. However, the mixed word of mouth took a toll on the film. Housefull 5 Proves That Branded Content Still Helps A Lot The reception of Housefull 5, which is lower than what one would expect but still pretty decent, does not change the fact that branded content is working. Producers should invest in creating new IPs that can keep audiences engaged and excited. Akshay Kumar has a few big IP films already on the way. Jolly LLB 3 will be followed by Welcome To The Jungle and OMG 3. You can watch Housefull 5 in theatres now.
