In March, KCPD identified the victim as 21-year-old Tracy Williams. The prosecutor's office said video surveillance footage showed Williams entering a store as a black Ford Fiesta arrived and backed into a parking spot. When he finally exited the store, a man, later identified as Nichols, exited the driver's side of the Ford and shot Williams as he walked by. The document claims he continued to shoot Williams even after he fell between two cars. The video footage then showed Nicholas walk back to his car and drive away from the scene. Detectives were able to find Nichols through social media and tracing information from his cell phone that placed him on the scene at the time of the shooting, according to the prosecutor's office. Nichols is being held in a Jackson County jail without bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
