Kanpur: A memorial gate for Pahalgam terror attack victim, Shubham Dwivedi, will be built in his native Hathipur village in Kanpur.
UP Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana laid the foundation stone for the memorial on Thursday.
Shubham's wife, Aishanya, performed the ground-breaking ceremony.Shubham's parents and other family members were also present on the occasion.
Mahana shared the news on his X handle. "In the sacred memory of the late Shubham Dwivedi, who was killed in a cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a memorial gate was ceremonially inaugurated today in his ancestral village, Hathipur," he posted.
The memorial, estimated to cost Rs 11 lakh, will be built in three months.
Local administration has assured full cooperation in the construction of the memorial. They have implemented measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian movement through a temporary alternative route during the construction of the memorial.
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak visited the Kanpur residence of Shubham and met his family members on Thursday afternoon. He said Shubham's sacrifice serves as a warning to the terrorists who destroy lives, and justice is being served. "Shubham's loss is deeply tragic and heartbreaking for all of us," said Pathak. Shubham's uncle Manoj said they have received full support from the central and state govts.

Fraudster cheats woman of Rs 2.5L posing as her nephew in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: A woman was defrauded of Rs 2.5 lakh by cyber criminals who pretended to be her nephew from Dubai, requesting urgent financial assistance. The cyber police initiated an investigation and registered a case against an unknown perpetrator on Saturday. I transferred the money from my bank account to the fraudulent account no 50100673883564 IFSC – HDFC0001945," Jaswal said. The fraud came to light only after the transfer when she contacted her nephew, who confirmed he had made no such request. Subsequently, she reported the incident to the cyber cell helpline, after which the Cyber West Police began the investigation.

Hyderabad: More than 11 years into state formation, many agreed decisions about the Andhra Pradesh division are also to be implemented. A significant high-level meeting occurred last December at the APIIC office in Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh, under the leadership of then Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and then Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar. The meeting, which extended for nearly two hours, reportedly produced favourable feedback on various issues. Notably, the two states came to an agreement regarding the distribution of labour cess amounting to Rs 861 crores. Additionally, Andhra Pradesh agreed to refund Rs 81 crores in excise dues that had been overpaid. However, the allocation of cess remains an outstanding issue. Officials from both states' departments suggested reconvening to finalise decisions related to employee exchanges and professional tax distributions, but this meeting has not yet occurred. Meanwhile, matters concerning the allocation of assets and liabilities of Schedule 9 and 10 institutions remain unresolved. The resolutions established by the ministers' committee will necessitate the endorsement of the chief ministers from both states. For matters that remain unresolved at the ministers' level, the chief ministers will have to directly engage in discussions to reach conclusions.

Telangana govt to launch Rajiv Yuva Vikasam on state's formation day
Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress govt is set to launch its flagship programme, Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, on Monday, which coincides with the state's formation day. The scheme aims to provide self-employment opportunities to young people from SC, ST, BC and minority communities. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The scheme targets around 4.9 lakh beneficiaries in phases, with a deadline by the end of October. In the first phase, the state govt has identified 57,634 beneficiaries, who will receive sanction letters on Monday. The govt has set a target of including 85,000 beneficiaries in the scheme this month. Notably, Rajanna Sirisilla district, which submitted only 7,681 applications, has an eligibility rate of nearly 95%. This district ranks second in terms of the number of beneficiaries (7,069), after Sanga Reddy (7,657). Khammam comes third with 4,588 beneficiaries. Interestingly, despite 6,189 applications being submitted from Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, none were accepted. Apart from Gadwal, Asifabad, Jangoan, Mulugu, Narayanpet and Wanaparthy, all of which received fewer than 10,000 applications, all other districts received over 10,000. The govt has also decided to allocate Rs 6,250 crore in subsidies for the accepted applications. This amount will be distributed in instalments from June to October. In June, benefits ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000 will be provided, subsidised by Rs 1,000 crore. An additional Rs 1,000 crore will be allocated in July for benefits of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh. From August to Sept, Rs 1,500 crore will be allocated each month for benefits ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh. In October, a further Rs 1,600 crore will be spent to provide benefits to the remaining applicants.
