Over the past six years, Jetour has been building its global footprint by introducing the brand to 80 markets and counting.
The fairly new automotive brand has sold more than 1.6 million cars since its establishment in 2019 and, in doing so, has become the first car manufacturer to achieve this milestone.

The Jetour Dashing was the first model to be launched in South Africa in late 2024, and since then, they announced the arrival of the Jetour T1 and T2 in late 2025.
The Citizen was invited as a guest of Jetour at the JETOUR World lounge, for a business conference, where they invited media from around the world to join them.
On Tuesday, they quietly revealed the G700 at a business banquet they hosted for media and investors at Jetour World Lounge in Shanghai.

Guests were treated to a dazzling evening of live entertainment where they sneakily parked the Jetour G700 and Jetour T2 on stage.
During the banquet, Jetour representatives did not even acknowledge the model or inform guests about the G700.
We had to do some investing when we discovered that the Jetour G700 is destined for South Africa, although we will have to wait until 2026/2027.
The brand has grown in popularity in South Africa, and in March 2025, it achieved its best sales month with more than 600 cars sold.

BMW fever hits Muldersdrift with Beemer fest [PICTURES]

Beemer fest 2025drew scores of BMW enthusiasts to Muldersdrift, where a showcase of both classic and modern BMWs was on display. BMW owners and fans had the opportunity to get together and share their passion for the brand. I know BMW purists will tell me that a 'beemer' refers to a bike and not a 'bimmer', which is the car. Organisers of the brand, Carcandy Inc., chose a name that the South African car scene is familiar with, Beemer. There are already hugely successful BMW forums, such as SA Beemer, that have adopted the 'incorrect' name. There was also an opportunity for businesses in the BMW scene to display some of the cars they have worked on. A purpose-built BMW E36 racing car on display at Beemer Fest, 1 June 2025. JETOUR Showcases Advanced GAIA Platform at Auto Shanghai 2025, Signals Global Off-Road Ambitions

At Auto Shanghai 2025, one of the largest automotive showcases of the year, JETOUR unveiled its latest technological leap—the GAIA architecture. With the debut of its new off-road models, the G700 and G900, the Chinese automaker is signalling a strategic move into the premium off-road segment, traditionally dominated by established global brands. The GAIA platform introduces a multi-mode hybrid architecture designed to support high-performance off-road mobility. It features two distinct systems: the iDM-O Super Hybrid and the iEM-O Amphibious Range-Extender. These systems combine combustion engines with electric motors to provide robust torque and high output suitable for challenging terrains. JETOUR claims the iDM-O setup delivers up to 665kW of power and 1,135N·m of torque—figures that rival or exceed conventional V8 engine outputs. Meanwhile, the iEM-O version, equipped with quad motors and amphibious capabilities, reportedly achieves 1,200kW of total power and 18,000N·m in wheel-end torque. While these specifications are impressive on paper, real-world performance in varied climates and terrains—especially those relevant to Africa—remains to be seen. Image: Supplied For South Africa, where rugged terrains and outdoor exploration are part of daily life and travel culture, JETOUR's GAIA-based vehicles may hold particular relevance. The increasing demand for hybrid and environmentally conscious vehicles could create opportunities for new players, especially those offering off-road capabilities without compromising on efficiency. Moreover, with local interest in camping, safari tourism, and cross-country travel, JETOUR's focus on features such as adaptive air suspension, independent four-wheel control, and even drone-assisted exploration systems may resonate with adventure-focused consumers. That said, successful market penetration would require not only product availability but also an established service network, affordable parts supply, and a clear aftersales strategy—areas where new entrants often face challenges. JETOUR is positioning itself not just as a carmaker but as a travel lifestyle brand. Its 'Travel+' ecosystem—covering vehicle customisation, accessories, community engagement, and travel services—suggests an ambition to build a brand identity beyond mobility. The company's leadership emphasises aligning technological advancement with environmental responsibility, aiming to make hybrid off-road exploration more accessible. JETOUR's Assistant President and head of international strategy, Ke Chuandeng, articulated this vision during a presentation at Auto Shanghai. 'We aim to be the world's leading hybrid brand,' he said, underscoring the company's long-term commitment to the segment. JETOUR's reported global sales of over 1.68 million units since its founding in 2018 reflect a rapid rise, particularly within China and select overseas markets. Whether this momentum can translate into competitive positioning in Africa—and South Africa specifically—will depend on multiple factors, including local partnerships, regulatory compliance, and consumer trust. For now, the GAIA platform marks a bold technological statement, positioning JETOUR as an ambitious player to watch in the evolving off-road mobility space.

China's Riddara RD6 to become 1st double-cab EV bakkie in SA

In almost complete silence, Geely's Riddara sub-brand will become the first to offer an all-electric (EV) double-cab bakkie in the South African market, with the introduction of the RD6. Looking for a new or used Jetour? Find it here with CARmag! Enviro Automotive has announced that it will be bringing the Riddara RD6 4×4 Double Cab into South Africa, which will become the first fully electric 4×4 bakkie in the country. Built by the Geely Auto Group on a Volvo-derived platform, the Riddara RD6 will make history in South Africa, becoming the first zero-emissions powertrain employed in a commercially sold double-cab bakkie. The model is capable of dispatching the 0–100km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds, while the automaker claims it still retains the brawn and functionality of a traditional bakkie, although it is worth noting that this isn't founded on a ladder frame construction. Nonetheless, it is backed by a five-year/150 000km vehicle warranty and eight-year/200 000km battery warranty, with Enviro Automotive claiming real-world battery life is expected to stretch even further than that. Power in the 4×4 is generated courtesy of a 315kW dual-motor powertrain, which also delivers 595N.m and can hit a top speed of 190km/h. All of this is superficial for prospective bakkie buyers, the bed is capable of swallowing 1 200l or carrying a one-tonne payload while the bakkie can tow a maximum three tonnes. Enviro Automotive adds that the Riddara RD6 itself, in both 4×4 and 4×2 guises, promises to blur the line between performance vehicle and utility bakkie and break away from ladder-frame traditions for added driving smoothness and agility. 'The Riddara 4×4 electric bakkie is not just a new model – it's a statement,' says Francois Malan, head of sales at Enviro Automotive. 'Our partnership with Turner Morris ensures these vehicles aren't just technological showcases, but practical tools ready for the realities of African roads and businesses.' The bakkie will be displayed for the first time at the Nampo Harvest Day this week, alongside the business-oriented SRM T3 EV bakkie. Related: Enviro Automotive's All-Electric SRM T3 Bakkie Lands in SA Enviro Automotive adds that its EV lineup will see pricing reductions, courtesy of maturing battery tech and favourable trade conditions. This means that business-oriented panel vans like the DFSK EC35 panel van will be even more compelling for prospective buyers, according to the automaker. Enviro Automotive says that the model will see a R105 000 reduction during a current promotion, which also makes it the most affordable commercial EV in the country for now.
