Caitlin Clark set to return against Liberty as Fever inch closer to full strength

New York Post2 days ago

Barring any unforeseen setbacks, Fever star Caitlin Clark is expected to return for Saturday – just in time for the defending champion Liberty.
Clark missed the last five games with a strained quad. The 2024 Rookie of the Year has been gradually working her way back, and Fever coach Stephanie White believes Clark will be good to go for Saturday's Commission Cup showdown against New York.
'I felt like today was better than yesterday in terms of movement and balance and feeling like she's getting back into rhythm, timing, all of those things,' White told reporters Friday after practice. 'As long as we don't have any regressions, she's going to be ready to roll.'

Clark has led the Fever in scoring (19 points per game) and assists (9.3.) She's also the best rebounder amongst the team's guards, averaging six boards per game.
The Fever are 4-5 this season after losing three of the past five games without Clark.
Clark's return was not the only good news for the Fever on the injury front.

Guard Sophie Cunningham is also expected to be back in the mix Saturday, according to White.
Cunningham was sidelined the last three games after aggravating an ankle injury that she first hurt in the Fever's preseason finale.
'Sophie looked really good,' White said. 'Her timing was good. Getting back into game rhythm and timing is the most important thing.'

Cunningham has averaged 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 36.4% from deep in four games.

Indiana is planning to be without DeWanna Bonner, who remains away from the team for an undisclosed personal reason.
Saturday will be the second meeting between the Fever and Liberty this season.
About two weeks ago, the Liberty survived their closest encounter to a loss yet at Indiana after they blew a double-digit lead in the second half and tailed by 12 in the fourth quarter.

Natasha Cloud made the game-sealing, controversy-stirring stop on Clark as time expired.
The Fever believed Cloud fouled Clark on the steal, while Cloud thought the officials made the right call.
The Liberty are off to their best start in franchise history having won nine straight. They're beating opponents by an average of 19 points and have set several franchise and league records during their hot start.

After the Lynx lost to the Storm earlier this week, New York is the only undefeated team remaining.
But Clark & Co. will look to challenge that Saturday.

Wyndham Clark reportedly damages lockers in Oakmont clubhouse at 2025 U.S. Open

Wyndham Clark reportedly damages lockers in Oakmont clubhouse at 2025 U.S. Open Wyndham Clark seemingly finds himself in hot water yet again for the second straight major championship. After apologizing for his behavior late in the 2025 PGA Championship, Clark is taking more heat for alleged damage he caused to lockers inside the famed clubhouse at Oakmont Country Club, site of the 2025 U.S. Open. Clark, the 2023 U.S. Open champion who missed the cut by a shot after shooting consecutive 4-over 74s on Thursday and Friday, allegedly took his frustrations out in the locker room after a bogey on the final hole resulted in him missing the weekend. Golfweek attempted to contact Clark about the alleged incident but was unable to reach him as of 10:45 a.m. ET. Last month, Clark damaged a T-Mobile sign during the final round of the PGA Championship, prompting him to apologize on social media the next day. "I promise to better the way I handle my frustrations on the course going forward, and hope you all can forgive me in due time," Clark wrote on social media. Since finishing T-5 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, Clark has made eight starts but his best finish is T-27. He has missed only two cuts after this week, but he hasn't finished better than T-50 in nearly two months. Those frustrations reportedly boiled over at Oakmont, and he was far from the only golfer to express frustration throughout the week. Rory McIlroy, the Masters champion and world No. 2, threw a golf club and smashed a tee marker during Friday's second round. Golfweek's Adam Schupak contributed to this story.

Caitlin Clark Takes Immediate Action After Young Fan's Emotional Moment

Caitlin Clark Takes Immediate Action After Young Fan's Emotional Moment originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Caitlin Clark appears to be inching closer to her highly anticipated return from a quad injury that has kept her out of the Indiana Fever's last five games. Advertisement Based on her initial timetable, Clark should have played in Indiana's last contest, which was a 77-58 blowout loss to the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday. The 23-year-old, however, was unable to suit up, which may have indicated a minor setback in her road to recovery. Be that as it may, she appears to be trending in the right direction in terms of the Fever's matchup against the defending champs, the New York Liberty, on Saturday. One particular fan, however, is looking forward to Indiana's road game against the Las Vegas Aces on June 22. This is after the young supporter's parents surprised her with tickets for the game at T-Mobile Arena. The fan's emotional moment was caught on camera and it was posted by her parent on Instagram. Clark wrote in the comments section. There is currently no information as to what Clark said in her message. However, given the nature of the situation, it would not be surprising if the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year offered to meet the fan during the game. She may have also offered to provide her with team merch. Fever Player Makes 'Trouble' Admission About New Photo With Caitlin Clark

Fever Player Makes 'Trouble' Admission About New Photo With Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It wasn't just Caitlin Clark who was out of action for the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night. Clark, who is expected to miss at least one more game with a quad injury, was joined on the sidelines by offseason recruit Sophie Cunningham, who was unable to suit up against the Washington Mystics due to an ankle issue. Advertisement Both guards were relegated to the bench on Tuesday as they were left with no choice but to play the role of cheerleaders for their squad. Cunningham caught wind of a photo of herself and Clark from the game. In it, the two are shown in the Jumbotron at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with similar worrying expressions on their faces. "Why do we look like we got in trouble???" Cunningham commented on the photo. Clark and Cunningham were snapped during a crucial juncture in the game. At that point in time, there were less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter as the Fever held on to a precarious five-point lead. Indiana improved to 3-4 after Tuesday's victory, and they will now prepare to face their biggest rivals, the Chicago Sky, in a road game on Saturday. Clark won't be available for that matchup, and it remains to be seen at this point if Cunningham will be able to play against Angel Reese and Co.
