I reviewed Ring's latest doorbell - and it's now 40 per cent cheaper for payday
This Ring Video Doorbell is the latest video doorbell from Amazon's smart home brand and has had a £40 price cut
The Ring Doorbell can be taken off to charge up every few weeks.

Video doorbells can be a real boon for everyone, particularly when Brits wish to monitor their home or anticipate an important parcel delivery.
However, they can sometimes be pricey. The good news is that Ring has reduced the price of its latest doorbell just in time for payday - now only £59.99, down from £99.99.
This is Ring's latest doorbell, and it's incredibly easy to set up, taking just five minutes. Thanks to Ring Home, users can also store clips and videos on the cloud.

It features 1440x1440 video quality to provide shoppers with a clearer view of what's happening at their front door, even in low light. A head-to-toe view allows users to see more of people and packages.
If shoppers are concerned about their neighbours' privacy, they can block out areas of the view from the doorbell. With Privacy Zones activated, the device will no longer display or record anything within those areas, reports the Express.
If a video doorbell has been on the mind for a while, there are alternatives. Eufy has a chime and video doorbell combo on Argos for around £100 with a discount code. Google also has its own doorbell for £179 if shoppers want to go all out.
I also reviewed the Ring doorbell back in 2024, and I was super impressed with its performance and ease of setup.
Keep up to date with what's going on at your front door with this Ring doorbell from Amazon.

Compared to my current Ring Video Doorbell Pro, the setup process for this new model is much simpler and quicker, with fewer components involved. The package includes a new push-pin that's easy to install, and the doorbell itself clips securely into the bracket, so there's no need to worry about it becoming loose.
Ring has also introduced a new push-pin tool that comes in a box, which allows users to detach the doorbell from the bracket. The quick-release battery, usually included with the doorbell, is built into the device, allowing them to charge the entire unit as one, without the need to fiddle with a screw, as I've had to do (on numerous occasions) with my Ring Video Doorbell Pro.

The image and video quality on the Ring is 1440p x 1440p, just slightly less than the 1536p HD video on the Pro version, but the difference is hardly noticeable when you compare them side by side.
The video quality is sharp, rivalling some of the best video doorbells available on the market. However, Ring places many features behind a monthly paywall, including previews on the mobile app and round-the-clock recording. This could deter many customers, and we can't fault potential buyers for wanting to overlook it.

How to compare prices While all these deals are solid, it's important to remember that not every 'sale' price is actually a bargain. That's where price comparison tools can come in handy. Websites like Google Shopping let you type in a product name or model number to instantly compare prices across dozens of retailers. PriceSpy is great if you want to look at a product's price history – it tracks prices from over 3,000 stores including Amazon, Argos and the major supermarkets. Idealo works in a similar way and ranks products from the cheapest to the most expensive, while CamelCamelCamel focuses on Amazon deals specifically, showing you how prices have changed over time. Shopping around and doing a quick search can save you serious money and stop you getting caught out by sneaky markups. Just don't forget to factor in delivery fees and check stock before heading to stores to avoid disappointment.

'I worked in fish and chip shops for years - one thing I would never order'

We may be spoilt for choice with the number of chip shops in the UK, but what really goes on behind the counter? One chippy worker has now shared all, including item he would never order Most Brits love a Friday night treat from the local chippy - keeping the tradition of our 'national dish', fish and chips, alive. Whether you're craving scampi or a battered sausage, there's no shortage of choice, with over 10,000 specialist shops across the UK. But while we're quick to tuck in, few of us know what really goes on behind the fryer. Jordan Luxford does. After five years working across various fish and chip shops, he picked up all the tricks of the trade while giving us a warning about what he would never order. ‌ Now running A-Star Waste Management in Sussex, Jordan has shared the secrets he learned from life behind the counter. ‌ Offering some insight into the frying process, Jordan divulged: "Most people wouldn't know that after we cook battered products in our oil, we would follow it with a batch of chips." According to Jordan, this helps get rid of the tiny batter fragments that linger even after sieving. ‌ Regarding the diversity of cooking in those bubbly pots, the former Wimbledon chef revealed that it's fair game, from traditional cod and haddock to confectioneries like chocolate bars. But having been on the frontline, there are certain items Jordan avoids at all costs now. "I would never order a fried beef burger! If you want a decent burger, get it from a shop with a hot plate to cook it on." He told the Express. While this tends to be common knowledge because, who really goes to a chippy to order a beef burger? Well, at least if you have previously - you may change your mind now. ‌ "If you want a freshly cooked item go for something that isn't in the glass top under the lights but we would cook anything fresh if a customer asked anyway." But there is a special treat, customers tend to love Jordan explains "Fried chocolate bars have always been popular too. We would usually cook them for free alongside an order and as we wouldn't have the chocolate bars in stock, the customer would be asked to bring them with them and we would cook them at the same time as the rest of their order." ‌ Cooking methods aside, there are other aspects of life behind the scenes of British chippies that fans of the beloved takeaway trade may find surprising. According to Jordan, a significant amount of effort goes into preparing the menu items that dominate fish and chip shops, especially the fries. The business owner explained: "The amount of preparation time needed to get everything ready before opening was a huge surprise! It takes hours to cut a Friday night's fish and even more hours to peel, inspect and cut 20 bags of potatoes. Prep for a Friday night, opening at 5.30 pm would start at 10 am." A meal that we scoff down in 20 minutes takes hours just to prep. With this revealed, we may start to appreciate the chip shop staff more

Ninja 'non-stick' pan drops to £19 in Amazon sale as shoppers buy more in the range

'This is the first pan I've had in my 20 years of adult life that's actually non-stick and needs no oil.' While many people enjoy the art of cooking and making delicious meals, not so many of us enjoy the clean up afterwards - especially if stubborn excess food is stuck to our cooking appliances and refuses to come off. In order to reduce this issue, many brands have come out with non-stick products to make your cooking experience more enjoyable. One such brand is Ninja. Mostly known for their high-tech Air Fryers, the brand also sells a whole host of kitchen essentials. One of which is the ZEROSTICK Essentials Cookware 20cm Frying Pan. Normally retailing for £30, Amazon has slashed the must-have kitchen appliance down to £18.49 in a limited time deal. Made from long-lasting forced aluminium, the Ninja ZEROSTICK Frying Pans are designed to be up to 20 times tougher than traditional non-stick pans, reports Birmingham Live. Compatible with ceramic and induction hobs, the pans are also said to be oven safe up to 260 degrees. Perfect for frying crispy bacon, sizzling steaks, pancakes, eggs and much more, this pan allows users to cook with little to no oil. Without compromising on cooking performance, food can easily slide out of the pan without sticking. Equipped with stainless steel handles, the Ninja frying pan is also said to be metal utensil safe, dishwasher safe and scratch resistant. For those in need of some new cookware, the Ninja collection may be a good range to consider. Alternatively, Amazon is also selling the Tefal Titanium Essential Frying Pan for £19. With a size of 20cm, this frying pan is designed to be compatible with all hobs and is equipped with Tefal's Thermo-Signal technology which indicates the ideal time to start cooking. Over on Argos, the Tower Smart Start Classic 28cm Aluminium Frying Pan is retailing for the slightly cheaper price of £15. With a built-in temperature sensor that "lets you cook like a pro", the Smart Start tick will change to dark red to let users know when it is time to start cooking. Back to the Ninja non-stick frying pan, it currently has a 4.6 star rating from over 2,300 Amazon shoppers. On top of this, over 900 people have bought the frying pan in the last 30 days, with some coming back and saying that it "works perfectly". One happy shopper said: "I spent more than I usually do on this pan, and honestly, it's well worth it. The construction is solid and weighty, the non stick is great and the heat retention is the best I have come across. Things keep cooking ( and staying warm ) long after I have switched off the hob. A great purchase." Another added: "I'm always a bit sceptical of extensively hyped products, but this pan really is good: substantial with a securely fitted handle. Six months on, the non-stick is excellent and it actually is possible to cook with a minimum of oil without anything sticking. We've gone on to buy three more items in the same range." However, one shopper wasn't happy with the size of the pan, writing: "It was not the size I was expecting. The actual frying area is only 15cm diameter, my last "20cm" fry pan had an 18cm diameter frying area - quite a difference. I am not sure I want to keep it so I haven't tried it out." Another shopper also grumbled: "Good quality frying pan with excellent non stick characteristic that matches manufacturers description. However, only works on my induction hob small rings and not the large ones, hence, me giving it four stars and not five." Despite this, a five-star reviewer added: "Use this everyday nearly. Fantastic little pan, great for making omelettes. Non-stick so easy to clean, and made from quality materials, so it's very sturdy." A sixth customer also wrote: "Often pan adverts show you cooking fried eggs, without needing any oil - they're all rubbish! This is the first pan I've had in my 20 years of adult life that's actually non-stick and needs no oil. "I love we can use it on the hob and put straight into the oven. I love that. After six months of being in the dishwasher most days, it still works perfectly." For those who want to buy the Ninja ZEROSTICK Essentials Cookware 20cm Frying Pan, click HERE.
