PS5 State Of Play: Everything announced from Nioh 3 to Pragmata
While State Of Play presentations are usually headlined by a first-party title from Sony, the company's latest showcase took a different approach.
Some titles from PlayStation Studios got a mention, between a brief look at Ghost of Yōtei and new levels in Astro Bot, but the big closing moment belonged to Sony's collaboration with Guilty Gear creators Arc System Works on a new Marvel fighting game.
While it is technically a PlayStation Studios production, it's not exactly the new God Of War spin-off some expected. Elsewhere, the other big reveal was perhaps the new James Bond game from Hitman developer IO Interactive, with a youthful, fresh-faced 007.
It may have lacked a surprise from one of Sony's big names, but the rest of the presentation was filled with some pretty great announcements. You can check out a rundown of the highlights below.

The creators behind Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite opened the show with another entry in the Lumines puzzle game series, titled Lumines Arise. The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC in autumn 2025, with optional PSVR2 and PC VR support.
A free single-player and multiplayer demo is planned for the summer. This is the first entry in the series since 2018's Lumines Remastered, which was also developed by Enhance Games.
Capcom's sci-fi action title was originally unveiled back in 2020, but it was delayed indefinitely in 2023. Two years later, however, and it's reappeared in pretty promising shape.
The gameplay looks somewhere between Vanquish and Astral Chain, with a promised 'two-in-one twist of action and strategy' as a young girl named Dianna sits on your back and throws out assist attacks during battles. It's set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2026.
Japanese developer Goichi Suda, aka Suda51, revealed his new 'ultra-violent science-fiction' game, Romeo Is A Dead Man. The opening of the trailer sports a cel-shaded comic book style, but the gameplay appears to be more visually grounded, albeit with the bloody spectacle you'd expect from the creator of No More Heroes.
You play as Romeo Stargazer, an FBI investigator who hunts wanted criminals across space. The game is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5.
Konami's next mainline instalment in the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill f, received a creepy new trailer, which showed off some of the spectacularly messed up monster designs.
The trailer also confirmed a September 25, 2025 release date across PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It might be just before the Halloween season, but this looks set to haunt you for weeks.
This long-rumoured remaster was finally revealed, with the name of Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles. This is a remaster of the original PlayStation game from 1997, which wasn't released in Europe until the 2007 PSP port, The War Of The Lions.
This includes the original game with the War Of The Lions translation, along with a new enhanced version with fully voiced dialogue, a renewed interface, and other improvements. It's set to be released on September 30, 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The Bloodstained saga continues with this new 2.5D side-scrolling action role-player, which is set in the same world as Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night.
The new Ethereal Castle map is described as being the largest yet, and the gameplay hinges around swapping between the two protagonists, Alex and Leo. While you directly control one, the other assists in combat, and you can switch between the two at the press of a button.
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5.
Digital Eclipse, the studio known for retro gaming compilations like Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, are back with a new Mortal Kombat retrospective.
The collection boasts over 20 different playable versions of the classic games, across arcade, console, and handheld entries. A bunch of these titles come with modern enhancements too, including online play with rollback netcode. It's set to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC in 2025.
One of the only VR games at the showcase was Thief VR: Legacy Of Shadow, which is set to launch across PSVR2, PC VR, and Meta Quest next year.
This is the first Thief game in over a decade, and it comes with a new protagonist called Magpie, who is described a 'cunning thief orphaned by Northcrest's brutality and shaped by the streets'. It's being developed by Vertigo Games and Maze Theory, in collaboration with Eidos-Montreal.
Five years after the last instalment, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja officially announced Nioh 3 and there's a limited time demo available right now until June 18 on PlayStation 5. More Trending
This sequel, which is slated for next year, features two combat styles between Samurai and Ninja. The former is similar to the Nioh combat seen in past games, while the Ninja style serves up quick movements, aerial actions, Ninjitsu techniques, and other abilities.
While these were the main highlights, there were several other smaller announcements, with new trailers for Sea Of Thieves-like Sea Remnants, Tides Of Tomorrow from the creators of Road 96, and Sword Of The Sea from the team behind The Pathless.
There were release dates for several indie titles too, with Baby Steps slated for September 8, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound arriving on July 31, and survival climber Cairn planned for November 5, with a demo available now.
As for Ghost of Yōtei, Sony announced it will offer a gameplay deep dive on the sequel in July, ahead of its launch on October 2, 2025.

Pierce Brosnan: I would play Bond again in a heartbeat
Pierce Brosnan has said he would reprise the role of James Bond as part of Amazon's reboot of the British spy franchise. The Irish-American actor played 007 in four Bond films in the 1990s and early 2000s including GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough. Now 72, Brosnan admitted that the world might not be ready for a senior citizen 007, but that he would seize the opportunity if Denis Villeneuve, the new Bond director, came knocking. He told Radio Times: 'I don't think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond but if Villenevue had something up his sleeve I would look at it in a heartbeat. 'It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics… who knows?' Brosnan was 51 when he appeared in his last Bond film – 2002's Die Another Day – before he moved he went on to star in other Hollywood films including The Thomas Crown Affair, Dante's Peak and Mamma Mia! Roger Moore was considered by some to be too old to play the spy during his run of seven Bond films. The British actor was 57 when he made his final Bond film, View To A Kill, in 1985. Sean Connery, who many Bond aficionados believe was the best 007, was in his 30s when he starred in the role in the 1960s and 1970s. Even when Connery reprised the 007 role for the non-official Bond film, Never Say Never Again, in 1983, he was still a sprightly 53. Brosnan, who will star in the new Thursday Murder Club film, said he had been keeping a close eye on who the next Bond will be after Daniel Craig bowed out in 2021 after five films. 'My wife Keely [Shaye Smith] and I have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who's going to be the next James Bond,' he told Radio Times. 'There are many great candidates out there, and I'm sure they're going to make it a spectacle of delight.' Bond must be a man Brosnan recently reaffirmed his view that Britain's most famous fictional spy had to be played by a man after an 2019 interview resurfaced in which the actor claimed it was time 'to put a woman up there'. At the time, he also said a female Bond would be 'exciting' and 'exhilarating'. But Brosnan is now back behind a male Bond. He said: 'I'm so excited to see the next man come on the stage and to see a whole new exuberance and life for this character,' he told Saga Magazine. 'I adore the world of James Bond. It's been very good to me. It's the gift that keeps giving. 'And I'm just a member of the audience now, sitting back saying: 'Show us what you're going to do'. Brosnan also wished Amazon MGM Studios – which paid $1 billion for the rights for creative control of the 007 franchise – all the best for the new films. Amid concerns about what Amazon is going to do to one of the world's most famous franchises, Dame Helen Mirren also urged Amazon not to mess with the formula amid concerns about Amazon's takeover of the franchise. 'I'm such a feminist, but James Bond has to be a guy. You can't have a woman. It just doesn't work,' she told Saga Magazine. 'James Bond has to be James Bond, otherwise it becomes something else.' Aaron Taylor-Johnson, known for 28 Years Later and Bullet Train, is among the favourites to succeed Craig. Though Idris Elba, 52, ruled himself out of contention saying he felt he was 'too old' for Bond, his name is still being touted as a possible replacement. Theo James (White Lotus), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) and Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts) have also all been linked to the role.

Next gen Xbox will have special hardware just for AI reveals Microsoft
Microsoft has discussed the hardware necessary to power its AI plans for the next gen Xbox, and how it'll begin experimenting with the Xbox Ally X. Although Microsoft revealed sometime ago, that they're working on a next Xbox console – one that will feature the 'largest technical leap' ever – they've never provided any details of what it will be or when it will be properly announced, even as rumours suggest it could be out as early as 2027. The most they've done is confirm a partnership with chip maker AMD, for both a home and portable console, but considering how poorly the Xbox Series X/S has sold it's very unclear exactly how these new devices will be pitched, especially as recent rumours suggest they'll be extremely expensive. It's true that they can offer an alternative via their cloud gaming service but, while hinting that cloud gaming may get a new ad-based tier, they've also talked about how much the new home console will prioritise Ai, including having hardware dedicated to it. Given Microsoft's obsession with the technology (which isn't AI at all, in the science fiction sense of the word, but merely machine-learning), it's long been assumed that their claim about the largest technical leap is related to AI, but in exactly what way has never been clear. AI has been used by video game companies in a number of non-controversial ways for many years, especially in terms of increasing resolution at no extra processing cost and, more recently, improving frame rates and features like ray-tracing. However, given Microsoft's disturbing attempts at trying to use AI to make games, no one believes they're just going to leave it at that. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. The best clue so far is that Microsoft is planning 'dedicated silicon' to enable AI features in the next gen Xbox, although again the details are purposefully vague. 'Together with AMD, we're designing dedicated silicon and hardware to enable the next generation of gaming experiences,' says Jason Ronald, Microsoft's vice president of next generation, via The Verge. 'We're investing deeply in the next generation of rendering technologies, such as neural rendering, which will bring a new level of quality to the games that you're having,' Neural rendering is an ambiguous term but, in this context, likely refers to AI image generation, although potentially in tandem with traditional rendering tools. That does sound like the sort of thing Microsoft would go for and according to Ronald, 'We're also investing in dedicated silicon to enable the next generation of AI capabilities, that will be transformative in how you actually experience your gameplay.' More Trending Ronald says that Microsoft will start experimenting with new AI features with the upcoming Xbox Ally X handheld devices, which have a dedicated NPU (neural processing unit) chip. Although this is not a surprising direction for Xbox it's unclear to what degree Sony will be using AI technology in the PlayStation 6, which is also expected to be released in 2027 or 2028. Publicly, there's only been references to benign uses, such as increasing resolutions, but a leaked AI demo of a generative AI version of Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn, suggests they might have similar plans to Microsoft. It's very likely both companies will start to talk about their next gen plans in detail from next year, but it already seems certain that the next generation will be something more than just the traditional upgrade in graphical power.
