Editor's note: Follow South Carolina vs. Texas live updates and UConn vs. UCLA live updates.
The women's NCAA Tournament is down to the Final Four, with a quartet of elite teams battling for a national title this weekend.
Friday will see the rubber match between defending champs South Carolina and Texas, who split two previous meeting this season. The Gamecocks (34-3) have gotten this far with superb defense, while the Longhorns (35-3) have leaned on First Team All-American forward Madison Booker. With both teams routinely holding opponents to fewer than 50 points over the last month, this game figures to be tense from start to finish.
The Final Four's second chapter is expected to play out a bit differently, with UCLA (who entered the tournament as the top overall seed) taking on UConn. The Huskies (35-3), despite being the last No. 2 seed left, have emerged as a title favorite thanks to star guard Paige Bueckers. The Bruins (34-2), who will look inside for center Lauren Betts whenever possible, haven't lost to anyone other than city rivals USC this season.

Cowboys' Jerry Jones emphasizes 'art of the deal' message in Micah Parsons negotiations
Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones spoke about the team's contract negotiations with star linebacker Micah Parsons during an appearance on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday morning. Jones spoke to co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Lawrence Jones about the ongoing standoff with Parsons. The pass rusher is in the final year of his rookie contract and as talks between the two parties have stalled, Parsons has requested a trade. The billionaire Cowboys owner maintained that Parsons was a special player but the linebacker needed to know that he was just one piece of a bigger puzzle when it came to the team. "Micah's a great player, not a good player but a great player. He knows more than anyone that it's a team thing," Jones said. "And so, I know everybody is tired of hearing this, but you got to put this puzzle together so that you can have some other people out there playing with Micah – that's the art of the deal. "And that's what we're trying to get done and we're trying to make this thing work. We have all the appreciation for what he can mean for the years ahead. We're proud to have him." Despite the dispute, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer was optimistic that Parsons would be with the team for its opening game against the defending Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4. "I feel good about that, yeah," he said when asked if he thought Parsons would be suiting up Week 1, per The Dallas Morning News. "I feel good that Micah is going to be out there against the Philadelphia Eagles." Parsons has been at the Cowboys' training camp facility in Oxnard, California, but he has been watching practices from the sideline. And though he's been spotted next to Jones, talks between the star edge rusher's representatives and the Cowboys' front office have not progressed at all. Parsons was asked about contract talks this past week at training camp, where he simply said, "My mouth is closed."

College Football Fans Are 'Begging' College GameDay To Avoid Big Mistake
College Football Fans Are 'Begging' College GameDay To Avoid Big Mistake originally appeared on The Spun. College football fans are begging ESPN to avoid making a big mistake with their flagship college football show, "College GameDay." ESPN's first "College GameDay" show of the season will be a big one. The pregame college football show will air live from Columbus, Ohio, ahead of the matchup between No. 1 Texas and No. 3 Ohio State. It'll be Lee Corso's final show. Corso, 90, has been covering college football for ESPN for 38 seasons. He's made 430 headgear picks all-time, including the Buckeyes a record 45 times. Many are expecting Corso to pick the Brutus headgear one more time, on that Saturday morning, August 30, minutes before kickoff between Ryan Day and Steve Sarkisian's programs. But ahead of Lee Corso's final show, college football fans are "begging" ESPN to avoid a big mistake. What is going to happen to the headgear segment when Corso retires following his final show on Saturday morning, August 30? While it's possible that ESPN could give the headgear segment to someone like Pat McAfee or Nick Saban, fans are pleading with the network: let it retire with Corso. College football fans are 'begging' ESPN to let it retire with Corso College football fans are "begging" ESPN to let the headgear segment retire with Corso, who has done it close to 500 times. "Please do not replace him. Headgear walks away with lee corso," one fan wrote. "I think it's safe to say that Pat has already replaced Corso and no headgear will be required," another fan added. "I say the only person who could take it is Pat Mcafee but other than that leave it alone," one fan added. "We need a new tradition to replace it," one fan added. "I totally agree anybody else trying to do it would just flop hard," one fan added. College GameDay host Rece Davis agrees Rece Davis, who took over as Chris Fowler as the host of ESPN's college football pregame show, believes that the headgear segment pick needs to retire with Corso, as well. "I think I'm going to have to tackle anybody that tries to do a headgear pick other than Lee Corso," Davis said on CNN earlier this year. "That, to me, is his signature moment and it should stay with him, in my judgement. I will fight very hard not to be overruled or vetoed on that. Many people tell me it's something they look forward to every week and I think that it's his, and his alone." Corso's final show will be a memorable one It doesn't get much better than No. 1 Texas vs. No. 3 Ohio State for the final show of his career, does it? Corso is excited. 'My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,' Corso said of his retirement. 'I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.' Corso added: 'ESPN has been exceptionally generous to me, especially these past few years. They accommodated me and supported me, as did my colleagues in the early days of College GameDay. Special thanks to Kirk Herbstreit for his friendship and encouragement. And lest I forget, the fans…truly a blessing to share this with them. ESPN gave me this wonderful opportunity and provided me the support to ensure success. I am genuinely grateful.' ESPN's final Lee Corso-featured "College GameDay" program will air live from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. E.T. Anthony Hill backs up teammate's 'smack talk' Instagram aimed at new Ohio State QB
Soon after Ohio State named redshirt freshman Julian Sayin the Buckeyes' starting quarterback against Texas on Aug. 30, UT defensive lineman Colin Simmons sent a message to the new signal-caller on Instagram. His teammates are confident the sophomore can back it up. Simmons simply posted a picture of Sayin's Ohio State media photo. But the message was clear - target acquired. As one of the best defensive players in the nation, Simmons can most likely back it up. His teammates believe he can. "It's cool. I mean, he's a guy that's going to go out there and be ready to play," Texas linebacker Anthony Hill said after Wednesday's practice. "So if you feel like that, I know he's going to back it up and be ready to go." The Duncanville High School graduate, who was named to the first-team preseason AP All-American team on Monday, is becoming one of the leaders on the team. Simmons fiery personality combined with a unique work ethic stand out. He's a player that leads by example.
