Bitcoin price: The current price of Bitcoin stands at $120,938.95, marking a jump of 10 per cent over the past seven days. Know what's fueling the rally?
Bitcoin Price: The rally of Bitcoin price doesn't seem to wane at any moment ahead the US 'crypto week'. The popular cryptocurrency has extended its rally by touching its new all-time high of $120,000, driven by pro-crypto sentiment from the Trump campaign, strong ETF inflows and increasing corporate treasury allocations.
This upward movement pushed Bitcoin past Silver and Google, making it the 6th largest asset by market cap. The m-cap of Bitcoin stood at 2.4 trillion. On the other hand, the Google's m-cap is at $2.19 trillion.
According to CoinMarketCap, the current price of Bitcoin stands at $120,938.95, marking a jump of 10 per cent over the past seven days. The M-cap of Bitcoin stood now at $2.4 trillion. On the other hand, Google's m-cap stood at $2.19 trillion.
This massive inflow of institutional money coupled with euphoria around the US 'Crypto Week', which kicks off today, is driving the current rally, said Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin.
Over the past week, several major cryptocurrencies have shown strong upward momentum. Ethereum (ETH) led with a 7-day gain of 18.26%, now trading around $3,044.93, driven by renewed interest in its DeFi ecosystem and network upgrades. Solana (SOL) also performed well, rising 10.03% over the week to $167.28, supported by growing developer activity and adoption. Dogecoin (DOGE) gained 17.50%, reaching $0.2050, likely fuelled by social media buzz and renewed retail interest. These consistent price increases, along with positive 24-hour movements, suggest strong ongoing demand in the broader crypto market.
Meanwhile, XRP and Stellar (XLM) stood out with massive gains. XRP jumped 29.44% to trade at $2.93, possibly on the back of improved legal clarity and market sentiment. However, the biggest winner was Stellar (XLM), which soared 100.77% over the week to hit $0.5049, marking a major breakout possibly linked to increased institutional or cross-border payment interest.
What Is Crypto Week?
The week ahead is anchored by 'Crypto Week" in Congress, key bills like the Clarity Act, GENIUS Act, and Anti‑CBDC Surveillance Act are moving through the House Rules Committee, with a full vote expected soon.
These bills aim to define crypto regulatory roles, authorize stablecoins, and block a U.S. central bank digital currency, providing clarity that could drive institutional market participation, said CoinSwitch Markets Desk.
Devika Mittal, Regional Head at Ava Labs notes that the timing couldn't be better, as countries like Vietnam are starting to embrace crypto themselves, following America's lead in the global digital economy.
Wall Street's big players have been waiting on the sidelines for clearer rules, and these bills could finally give them the confidence to dive in. But it's not just about attracting big money – there's real attention being paid to protecting everyday investors from scams and sketchy practices, she adds.

Trump says Ukraine 'shouldn't target Moscow' amid reports of Zelensky being asked about strikes

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday said his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky should not target Moscow. Trump had allegedly asked Zelenskyy whether Ukraine could strike Russian capital Moscow and St Petersburg.(AP) This comes hours after a Financial Times report stated that he had asked Zelensky whether he could strike Moscow. During a phone call with the Ukrainian President on July 4, Trump had allegedly asked whether Ukraine could strike Russian capital Moscow and St Petersburg if the US provides them with long-range weapons. Zelensky replied in the affirmative to the question, Bloomberg reported quoting a person who had been briefed about the conversation. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, when asked about Trump's query, said that the US President was 'merely asking a question' and not 'encouraging further killing'. 'He's working tirelessly to stop the killing and end this war,' Leavitt said. Trump had on Monday said he would send Patriot air defence missiles to Ukraine, after his initial reluctance to send weapons to the country. However, with his recent frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin evident, Trump called NATO secretary general Mark Rutte last week to 'ramp up support' for Ukraine. Rutte stated that Trump had said he was 'irritated' with Putin for not considering a peace deal with Ukraine. The US President has also threatened 100% tariffs on Russia if Moscow does not agree to a peace deal to end the war in 50 days. '…we're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don't have a deal in 50 days. Tariffs at about 100 per cent,' Trump said, while adding that he was 'very unhappy' with Russia.

"This Will Sell': Elon Musk's Grok Introduces AI Companions Featuring A Goth Anime Girl

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok has introduced a new feature called AI companions, in which users have access to customisable 3D animated characters, including a goth anime girl. The other character is a furry red panda named Bad Rudy that has a mean, sarcastic personality and a vulgar streak. "This is pretty cool," Musk wrote in one of his recent posts on X, sharing an image of the anime companion Ani, who is a blonde, pigtailed character wearing a black corset, short dress, and thigh-high fishnets. Musk confirmed that the AI companion feature is currently in a soft launch and will be easier to activate for Super AI subscribers in a few days. The companions seem to be the latest in a series of features aimed at boosting user engagement and offering greater personalisation for paid users. See the post here: Update your app to try out @Grok companions! — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 14, 2025 It remains unclear if these AI companions are meant to role-play as romantic interests or serve as different skins for users on the app. Some users have pointed out that the feature is similar to where users are able to talk to chatbots based on real-life and fictional characters. Social media reacts As the news of the new feature went viral, social media users joked that Mr Musk may have found a way to turn the AI business profitable. "I mean, that sh*t is probably going to sell, especially with more characters, with different personalities," said one user while another joked: " is shaking in their boots lol another wrapper gone." A third commented: "Can I customise it to look like Karl Marx and read the news with an anti-capitalist bias to propagandise my friends in the bar? That's all I want!" A fourth said: "There's a lot of data to indicate huge amounts of loneliness in the modern world and perhaps an AI 'companion' can help to off-set this. There isn't any real reason to prevent people from using AI in this way." What is Grok? Grok is Mr Musk's answer to his rivals, such as Google and Meta, who have come up with their respective chatbots to take a lead in the AI race. xAI launched Grok 4 last week, with the billionaire touting it one of the most advanced chatbots capable of solving almost any query. "With respect to academic questions, Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every subject, no exceptions," said Mr Musk during the launch. "At times, it may lack common sense, and it has not yet invented new technologies or discovered new physics, but that is just a matter of time." It was in April 2024 that Mr Musk and the xAI team decided that to develop the most advanced AI, they needed to build their own data centre. With a strict deadline, the team managed to get the first 100,000 GPUs operational in just 122 days, calling it a "monumental effort." This massive computing power has continuously improved Grok, allowing it to function in three modes: DeepSearch, Think, and Big Mind.

China growth pings, A US tariff playbook?

Perhaps unexpectedly, China's economic growth has been resilient during a trade truce with the US by dint of diversifying exports to new markets, and through a policy-induced prop to consumption. According to National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday, China's GDP expanded by 5.2% in Q2, making it on track to meet its overall annual 5% growth target if it manages to counteract tariff headwinds and remains committed to ongoing output has surprised on the upside, and consumption came in weaker than anticipated. Pushing the same buttons may yield diminishing returns because of the degree of automation of Chinese factories. Policy will, instead, have to be directed at the property market, which continues on a downward directed policy support provides Beijing headroom to deal with Washington's tariffs after their truce ends next month. There is a degree of frontloaded Chinese industrial output as the tariff developments unfold. If policymakers turn cautious about further easing, they risk exposing the Chinese economy to unusual external and internal to keep the economy ticking over through directed stimuli can be strong. But it avoids addressing imbalances that have brought China into economic confrontation with the US. China must increase share of consumption to rebalance trade with the US. The Trump regime's pushback will have a domino effect on how other countries approach their own trade with negotiations will, thus, proceed with a clearer understanding of the extent of US pressure and China's ability to repel it. China is forecast to see its midterm growth slide, unless it eases up on external trade and doubles down on internal deviation from this premise will delay, but not avert, Chinese deflation, effects of which will be felt globally given the size of China's trade surplus. The US being a more mature economy can't aspire to China's current rate of growth. And incremental US growth that Trump is pushing for, is expected in isolation.
