Teen killed by poisoned cupcake sent by classmate who claimed it was from a 'secret admirer'
The 'jealous' perpetrator also sent two notes - purportedly written by the mystery paramour - praising the 'most beautiful' 17-year-old unnamed victim.
She then watched silently as her classmate Ana Neves fell ill and was rushed to hospital where she died, according to the victim's father, Silvio das Neves.
'After my daughter died, she still greeted me and hugged me,' the grief-stricken father claimed.
The two separate notes read: 'A treat for the most beautiful girl I've ever seen' and 'A gift for the sweetest girl with the most incredible personality I know.'
In an attempt to trace the mystery benefactor, a curious Neves had sent an audio message to a group chat asking who among her pals in Itapecerica - about 310 miles north of Sao Paulo - had sent the treat and the notes.
But there was no response, according to Brazilian news outlet G1.
The victim fell sick around an hour after eating the cake at 6pm on Saturday but was initially discharged from hospital that night.
Neves returned home for a sleepover with the suspect, not knowing she had tried to kill her.
Her condition took a turn for the worse on Sunday when she became ill and fell in her bathroom.
Neves' father told reporters that she was dead by the time she had arrived at the hospital, where doctors failed to revive her from a cardiac arrest.
'This girl went to sleep at my house and was there for the whole thing,' Neves said after his daughter's burial service.
'She saw [Ana] feeling sick, she saw when I took her to the hospital and, the next day, she also saw my daughter falling in the bathroom and she didn't show any reaction.'
Sao Paulo Civil Police investigators analyzed surveillance cameras near Ana Neves' home and were able to identify the license plate number of the motorcycle courier who delivered the poisoned cupcake.
The deliveryman was able to share the address to the suspect's home.
The suspect was accompanied by her mother to the Itapecerica Police Station, where she initially denied involvement.
She later admitted buying arsenic online for about $11.50 (65 Brazilian reals) and purchasing the cupcake at a bakery near her home.
While at home, she added the toxic chemical on the cupcake and then requested the courier service, paying around 88 cents (5 reals) for the delivery.
The teen also admitted to poisoning another classmate, 17-year-old Kamilly da Silva, on May 15 because she just wanted to frighten her.
She said she targeted da Silva because she had not gotten over her breakup with her two previous boyfriends, according to a statement that was obtained by CNN Brasil.
She told investigators she 'did not intend for any greater harm to happen' to both of the victims and that she just wanted both girls to 'experience bad symptoms, such as vomiting.'
Da Silva made a full recovery, but never filed a police report.
Silvio das Neves could not understand why his daughter's classmate wanted to cause harm.
'My daughter didn't deserve this,' he said. 'She was a good person. She had no vices, she didn't mess with anyone. She was a hard worker.'

Body of pregnant woman tragically discovered in plastic storage bin
Two men in Ohio have been arrested after police found a pregnant woman's body stuffed inside a plastic tote on the side of the road. Jackson Township police said they received a call just before 8pm on August 3 that a bad smell was emanating from a cooler along Fort Anthony Road, the Dayton Daily News reports. The lessee, James R Rothenbusch, 52, was then detained at the scene as police collected drug paraphernalia from his residence. Upon questioning, police say Rothenbusch admitted to drug trafficking and said Fuhr-Storms died at his home under 'suspicious circumstances.' He also told police was left in the shower for around four days before it was disposed of. A second suspect, Ricky J. Sheppard, 47, was also found nearby and allegedly tried to run as police approached him. 'Sheppard attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended and detained,' deputies said, according to Fox 19. 'He later stated that the deceased died from an alleged overdose and she remained in the house for approximately a week before being removed.' 'Everybody dropped everything as they should when you find out that a mother-to-be was just dumped on the side of the road,' he said. 'You don't always get that cooperation all the time around the US and in Ohio, but in this case you kind of have to tip your hat.' Yet questions about Fuhr-Storms' death remains, as police say tests are still pending from the coroner's office even as her family raises money for her funeral. Man charged with murder of father and son near London Bridge
A man has been charged with the murder of a father and son who were fatally stabbed at a business near London Bridge.
