Fynnon's Retreat is taking place at St Fagans to boost wellness

The retreat, called Ffynnon, takes place in St Fagans and the launch was led by holistic practitioners from across Cardiff.
It was created by nutritional therapist Molly Harvey-Love, breathwork facilitator Jenny Edwards, and yoga and sound healing teacher Claudia D'Arezzo.
Ms Edwards said: "Many retreats are a full week or weekend long, we wanted to offer something for busy people who can get all of the benefits of a longer retreat, but still be back to do bedtime."
The event included yoga, breathwork, sound healing, and a nourishing lunch.
Attendees were also given a resource journal to support ongoing wellness at home.
One participant said: "A restorative retreat that helped release stress and emotions using a variety of tools from movement, breathwork, nourishment and connection."
More information can be found on the Ffynnon Retreats' Instagram page.

Why Pumpkin Seed Oil Is The Best Aid For Hair Loss

Hair, or the lack of, has been a hyperfixation of the beauty community of late. Whether we are trying to grow it, maintain it, or prevent it from falling, the health of our hair is as important as ever. Our collective concerns around the subject are being marked today with the start of Hair Loss Awareness Month, which extends throughout August and aims to shed light on hair loss, its causes, and the impact it has on the people it effects. While the concern is a common one, Thérapie Clinic reports approximately 6.5 million men and 8 million women across the UK are affected by it, there are thankfully a host of solutions ready to remedy our scalps and strands. Despite what you may think, these stretch beyond high-tech lasers and cosmetic injectables to include simple pantry staples like oils, too. Speaking on the concern, hair loss specialist and Grazia Beauty Panel member, Dr Aamna Adel, has taken to Instagram to reveal the viral hair growth oils that are actually worth the fuss, according to science. Before you mention the likes of rosemary, batana and coconut oil, Dr Adel has news - they don't cut it. In fact she rates the former (and most hyped hair oil online) a four out of ten and urges her followers not to expect miracles when using it. Hair loss specialist and Grazia Beauty Panel member, Dr Aamna Adel, shares the best oils for hair growth on Instagram ©Instagram @dermatologist_adel As for her most highly commended oil for hair growth? Pumpkin seed oil, which Dr Adel gives a nine out of ten star rating. Taken from the oil of pumpkin seeds, she explains, 'The oil is packed with antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamin E, zinc, and phytosterols. It's an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and has DHT blocking properties, which is implicated in hormonal hair thinning AKA androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Topically, fatty acids can help strengthen the scalp barrier, reduce inflammation and support an environment for better hair growth.' While it has been used in traditional medicine for some time, recent studies showed that in men with AGA, it was comparable to 5% minoxidil (a popular topical medication used to treat hair loss) and helped increase hair density (increased number and thickness of hairs) in those who took 400mg a day. Dr Adel adds, 'There is evidence that both topical and oral pumpkin seed oil can help with hair growth, these are small scale studies however the evidence is promising and would be an option to explore for someone who doesn't want to take minoxidil.' Hair loss specialist and Grazia Beauty Panel member, Dr Aamna Adel, shares the best oils for hair growth on Instagram ©Instagram @dermatologist_adel Having tried pumpkin seed oil both topically and orally, Dr Adel has noticed her scalp becoming less dry and irritated, and her hair feeling more dense overall. 'I think as part of an overall haircare routine and combining it with clinically proven ingredients like peptides and caffeine it can be beneficial. I wouldn't expect miracles on its own.' If you're keen to try it, there are a few things to note. If applying the oil topically, directly massage it into the scalp a few times a week, and if you opt to take it orally as a daily supplement, around 400mg per day can be beneficial for supporting hair growth. 'Both ways are effective, although oral might have slightly stronger evidence but it comes down to personal preference.' 1. Biona Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil While this oil won the Great Taste Award 2024, it is cold pressed from organic pumpkin kernels and works wonders on your scalp as well as salads and soups. Dr Adel recommends using it topically two to three times a week to really gauge the results. Dr Aamna Adel, hair loss specialist and Grazia Beauty Panel member, says: 'Ive tried it both topically and orally. I have noticed that my scalp is less dry and irritated and my hair overall feels denser. I think as part of an overall haircare routine and combining it with clinically proven ingredients like peptides, caffeine it can be beneficial. I wouldn't expect miracles on it's own.' Pros Can be used topically and ingested through addition to meals Cons Requires consistency for visible results Identifying hair loss and deciding when to speak to a professional about it is the first step to getting things back on track. Hairdresser and founder of The Six Hair & Beauty in Mayfair, Marcos Verissimo, explains, 'Start by paying attention to where you're seeing hair – if you're noticing strands on your pillow, in your car, on your clothes or table – places beyond your usual shower or brush – it could indicate something more than the natural cycle. Also, if you notice more shedding right after washing, or a lack of growth in your nails and general skin health – remember, it's all connected. Hair is made from the same protein as your nails, so if one is struggling, the other likely is too.' Another key sign is a shift in density, 'if your hair feels noticeably lighter or thinner, or your parting appears wider than usual. In these cases, I always advise monitoring things closely for around four to six months, especially if you've recently started any hair growth treatments or lifestyle changes. It's important to give your body time to respond before drawing conclusions,' he adds. Plus, take note from your stylist, they are trained to spot the subtlest of changes, so if they flag it you know it is serious. Inside Justin Timberlake's 'debilitating' secret health battle and world tour struggles

Justin Timberlake's shock announcement that the singer has been secretly battling a debilitating health condition explains why his world tour was plagued by cancellations and performance issues Following a number of cancellations and performance issues with Justin Timberlake 's Forget Tomorrow World Tour, the Senorita singer made the shock announcement that he had been battling a secret health condition. The star revealed in a candid Instagram post that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease, a bacterial infection spread by ticks. ‌ Among other symptoms, the NHS states that chronic fatigue, lethargy, headaches and muscle and joint pain can all be attributed to the often misdiagnosed disease. He joins a number of other celebrities who have also been honest about contracting the illness, including Bella and Yolanda Hadid, Riley Keough, Justin Bieber, Alec Baldwin and Ben Stiller. ‌ Lyme disease cases surged in the UK last year, with health authorities forced to issue an urgent warning to the public about the condition. It comes after it emerged Whitney Houston spent her tragic final moments 'feasting on food' with gravy boat in bathtub. ‌ Justin Timberlake's secret health battle Justin shared his thoughts on overcoming the condition, offering fans an explanation for some of the problems it had caused him. Writing on his story, the 44-year-old pop star opened up, saying: "Well, as these two incredible years come to an end and I look forward to the future, I wanted to write something from the heart. ‌ "It's not an easy task to try to contextualise the whirlwind of touring – but I will try…this has been the most fun, emotional, gratifying, physically demanding, and, at times, gruelling experience. I have been doing this for 30+ years (which feels crazy to say)—and have given all that I have to this. I could not have done it without my family, friends, the TN kids, and all of your support. "As many of you know, I'm a pretty private person. But as I'm reflecting on the tour and festival tour – I want to tell you a little bit about what's going on with me. "Among other things, I've been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which I don't say so you feel bad for me, but to shed some light on what I've been up against behind the scenes. If you've experienced this disease or know someone who has, then you're aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically. ‌ "When I first got the diagnosis, I was shocked for sure. But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness. I was faced with a personal decision. Stop touring? Or, keep going and figure it out. I decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I'm so glad I kept going. "Not only did I prove my mental tenacity to myself, but I now have so many special moments with all of you that I will never forget. I was reluctant to talk about this because I was always raised to keep something like this to myself. But I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren't misinterpreted. Sharing all of this with the hope that we can all find a way to be more connected. I'd like to do my part to help others experiencing this disease, too." ‌ What is Lyme disease? Ticks that can cause Lyme disease are most commonly found in the Northeastern, mid-Atlantic, and upper-Midwestern regions of the United States. But they are also known to be found all over the UK, with high-risk places including grassy and wooded areas in southern England and the Scottish Highlands. Although some individuals that have Lyme disease get a rash or bite mark, there are not always obvious symptoms. Two types of blood tests are available to help confirm or rule out Lyme disease, however these tests are not always accurate in the early stages. You may also need to be retested if you still believe you have Lyme disease symptoms after a negative result, the NHS says. A course of antibiotics is usually the best treatment for the infection, although symptoms can go on for years. ‌ Justin's tour struggle The Forget Tomorrow World Tour was announced in support of Justin Timberlake's sixth studio album, Everything I Thought It Was. It kicked off on April 29, 2024, in Vancouver, Canada. He visited Europe, before heading back to Canada and the US. An extension to the tour, called JT Live 2025, saw the singer perform a number of festivals and one-off shows, before officially ending on 30 July in Istanbul, Turkey. But some fans were left disappointed with their idol, after he cancelled some concerts, with nobody knowing until this week why. ‌ His February concert at Ohio's Nationwide Arena was cancelled at the very last minute, leaving his fans angry and out of pocket. He wrote at the time: "You guys, I'm heartbroken, I have to cancel the show tonight." He added: "I went into soundcheck battling the flu and now it's gotten the best of me. It kills me to disappoint you and my team who worked so hard to make this show happen. "I want to reassure you, you'll be getting refunds for your tickets. I love you all." ‌ In October 2024, he also cancelled his performance in Newark, New Jersey, only telling his fans a few hours before the gig. The same month, he pulled out of a further six shows, after he was struck down with laryngitis and bronchitis. Fans left fuming One of the former N*Sync star's fans shared a video on X showing disappointed fans departing the venue en masse. The person wrote: "Everyone leaving Nationwide Arena because Justin Timberlake cancelled the LAST tour date after already rescheduling from October. 10 minutes before the opener and after doors opened." ‌ Other disgruntled fans replied with their own experiences, with one commenting: "Bought almost 40 bucks in drinks tonight, was sitting in our seats, we thought the announcement was a joke". Another added: "Paid 20 dollars in parking and now 2 vacation days wasted on this." Someone else was left raging at the short notice, commenting: "Canceling [because] of being sick is 100% understandable. Canceling 10 minutes before the doors were to open is unacceptable." Another wrote: "The show was canceled at 7:30 and the show was supposed to start at 8:00, I'm sorry if you have the flu you would've know before 1/2hour before the show starts. There were little kids standing in line that was devastated that you canceled. Shame on you."

'I have Lyme disease like Justin Timberlake – make sure you spot 7 symptoms'

As Justin Timberlake recently revealed he's been diagnosed with Lyme disease, one woman with the same condition has shared seven subtle signs you should look out for Following the end of his recent Forget Tomorrow World Tour, Justin Timberlake took to social media to reflect and shared the shocking news to fans that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. ‌ Posting on his Instagram, the 44 year old former N'Sync star told his followers: "As I'm reflecting on the tour and festival tour – I want to tell you a little bit about what's going on with me. Among other things, I've been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease – which I don't say so you feel bad for me – but to shed some light on what I've been up against behind the scenes. ‌ "If you've experienced this disease or know someone who has – then you're aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically," he explained, revealing he could now understand why he'd been suffering with nerve pains during his performances. ‌ Lyme disease is a condition that can be spread through tick bites in the UK, though it's important to note not every tick carries the bacteria responsible for Lyme disease and not every bite from an infected tick will lead to human infection. The UK Health Security Agency reports approximately 1,500 laboratory-confirmed Lyme disease cases annually in England and Wales, whilst an estimated additional 1,000 to 2,000 individuals receive diagnoses each year through clinical evaluation rather than laboratory testing. A TikTok user, known as 'yourlymebestie', who has also been diagnosed with Lyme disease, took to the social media platform to share seven symptoms she experienced before her diagnosis that people should look out for. ‌ "Early Lyme Disease symptoms (that I overlooked)," she captioned the video, before diving into her list. 1. Tingling or numb hands and arms Her first symptom was a sensation of numbness or tingling in her hands and forearms. She demonstrated this by opening and closing her hands on camera, followed by a shrug of her shoulders. The NHS states muscle and joint pain can be a symptom of Lyme disease, along with nerve issues such as pain or numbness in various parts of your body. ‌ However, it's crucial to remember these symptoms could be caused by a variety of factors, and don't necessarily mean you have Lyme disease. 2. Increased food sensitivity and indigestion Next, she is seen munching on a granola bar before patting her stomach to indicate discomfort. She then revealed that increased food sensitivity and indigestion could be another sign of Lyme disease. ‌ Lyme disease can sometimes lead to heightened food sensitivities, possibly due to gut health problems and inflammation triggered by the infection. Some people with Lyme disease may find their existing allergies or sensitivities worsen, while others may develop new ones. Signs of food intolerances can encompass stomach troubles, skin breakouts, and tiredness. 3. Headaches and mental cloudiness You could also be suffering from more ongoing headaches or mental cloudiness, as Lyme disease might progress into the nervous system or meninges if left untreated. ‌ The NHS states that Lyme disease can trigger headaches and mental cloudiness, especially when it advances to affect the nervous system or meninges (the protective layers around the brain and spinal cord). A severe headache, combined with neck stiffness and light sensitivity, are warning signs of meningitis, which can develop as a complication of Lyme disease. Should you notice these signs following a tick bite, the NHS advises seeking urgent medical care. 4. Dissociation and communication struggles "Feeling dissociated and difficulty conversing," she noted for her fourth sign, while demonstrating herself becoming detached and finding it hard to think of what to say during conversation. ‌ This is also a sign that can occur with Lyme disease impacting the nervous system, as it can potentially result in neurological effects such as memory difficulties, concentration problems, and even paralysis, without treatment. These effects, alongside others like headache, neck stiffness, and light sensitivity, can develop from swelling of the brain and spinal cord (meningitis). 5. High temperature Next up, she urged you to stay cautious if you start to experience a fever, whether it's a low-grade one or a higher one. ‌ According to the NHS, a high temperature, or feeling hot and shivery is one of the most common symptoms of Lyme disease, along with other general flu-like symptoms, such as headaches, muscle and joint pains, and tiredness and loss of energy. If you know you've been bitten by a tick and you start getting these symptoms, it's important to seek immediate medical help in order to start treatment and prevent long-term damage to your body. 6. Fatigue She then went on to warn people to get checked out if they start to feel more fatigued than normal. ‌ Lyme disease can trigger exhaustion, even after treatment. While the majority of patients make a complete recovery from Lyme disease using antibiotics, some suffer from ongoing or returning symptoms including tiredness, aches, and depletion of energy, the NHS states. This persistent exhaustion is frequently likened to fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. 7. Sudden weight loss For the final symptom on her list, she wrote: "Sudden, unexplained weight loss." ‌ While most people might feel pleased to discover they've shed a few pounds without any effort, it typically signals that something is amiss within your body. Although this could indicate numerous different conditions, it's also a warning sign you may have contracted Lyme disease, especially during the initial phases of infection when your body is battling the bacteria. This can result from various factors, including your immune system's reaction to infection, alterations in metabolism, and possible reduction in appetite. Experiencing any of these symptoms doesn't necessarily mean you have Lyme disease. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, the NHS strongly advises you to get in touch with your GP. However, if you're aware you've been bitten by a tick and start showing symptoms, it's recommended to request an urgent GP appointment or seek advice via 111.
