Detroit Red Wings announce dates for 2025 training camp: What to know for Traverse City

Yahooa day ago
As has been tradition for more than a quarter century, the Detroit Red Wings are headed to Traverse City for training camp.
It'll be shorter this year: Just three days of on-ice activity, from Thursday, Sept. 18 through Saturday, Sept. 20. That's because the annual Red-White game, which generally marks the end point of the scenic part of camp, will be held this year in Grand Rapids, on Sept. 21.
After that, the Wings return to Detroit to prepare for an eight-game exhibition schedule.

This year's camp will be especially beneficial for Todd McLellan, who had one morning skate to prepare to take over the team when he was named coach on Dec. 26. Now he'll have three weeks to prepare the Wings for their Oct. 9 season opener.
It was Scotty Bowman's idea to bring the then-defending Stanley Cup champions to Traverse City in the fall of 1997. Spending a handful of days in such a beautiful place at an ideal time of the year was such a hit, it has continued yearly (except during labor disputes and the COVID-19 pandemic).
A full camp roster and the complete training camp schedule will be announced at a later date. The Traverse City practices will take place at Centre Ice Arena. For ticket information, go to www.mynorthtickets.com/organizations/centre-ice starting on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.
Ticket prices are as follows:
Training Camp Practice (Thursday, Sept. 18): $20 per day (general admission)
Training Camp Practice (Friday, Sept. 19): $20 per day (general admission)
Training Camp Practice (Saturday, Sept. 20): $30 per day (general admission)

Anthony Richardson could return to Colts practice as soon as Saturday after dislocating pinkie finger

Anthony Richardson could return to Indianapolis Colts practice as soon as Saturday after dislocating his right pinkie finger Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens in the teams' preseason opener, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder. After the game, Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters that Richardson's finger was popped back into place and that the 2023 first-round pick was "day to day." This story is being updated.

Fantasy Football Rankings 2025: Justin Boone's Top Tight Ends for drafts

Justin Boone won the FantasyPros Most Accurate Expert Award in 2019 and has eight top-10 finishes in the competition. He now brings his rankings acumen to the Yahoo Fantasy audience after recently joining the team as an analyst. He will consistently be refining his draft rankings during training camps, the preseason and leading up to the season. When news breaks, rankings updates will be reflected here, so bookmark this page and get ready for your drafts! And be sure to follow the links below to see his latest redraft rankings at every position. Latest TE Updates Colts rookie Tyler Warren made his preseason debut this week and immediately was a focal point of the passing attack, catching three passes for 40 yards. This comes after several beat writers remarked on his frequent volume in practice. As I've said before, if you miss out on the three elite tight ends, targeting someone from the tier of Tucker Kraft, Dalton Kincaid, Colston Loveland and Warren is a smart move. Am I buying the Kyle Pitts hype again? Maybe. Michael Penix Jr. locking onto him in practice and insisting that is the plan this season is at least notable. Darnell Mooney is also dealing with a shoulder injury that might keep him sidelined into the start of the season. That would leave Pitts as a meaningful part of the passing game early on. Either way, he's risk-free at his late-round ADP this year and still carries more promise than the other boring veteran TEs in that range. There was speculation all offseason that the Seahawks could release veteran tight end Noah Fant, but they waited until right before training camp to make the move. That helps disguise the fantasy value of second-round rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo, who seems headed for a big role in Klint Kubiak's scheme. While I prefer the long-term value of other Day 2 rookie tight ends like Mason Taylor, Harold Fannin Jr. and Terrance Ferguson, Arroyo has a chance to outproduce all of them in Year 1.
