A former Loose Women star has divulged the reasons behind her departure from the much-loved ITV programme, citing her husband's concerns as the catalyst for her exit.
Lesley Garrett, a renowned opera singer who has performed for nobility such as King Charles and the late Queen in her illustrious 45-year career, is equally recognised for her television appearances on shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Loose Women.
After imparting her opinions on the daytime chat show for four years, Lesley has opened up about her husband Peter Christian, a general practitioner's influence on her decision to step away from the panel.

"[It's] the only time he's ever asked me to stop doing something," she disclosed to the Daily Mail.
"He said, 'At the surgery I've got ten minutes with each patient. And eight minutes is taken up with what you've said the day before. I'm worried I'm going to misdiagnose somebody, so please could you stop?'", reports the Mirror.

Previously, Lesley addressed concerns that her family had regarding her role on the show. She recounted in 2011 how her parents were struggling with the local attention, "My mum and dad said, 'Do you think you could just give it a rest for a bit because we can't go down the shops at the moment without somebody saying, 'What have you been up to?'".
Despite these familial pleas, Lesley confessed she found the show immensely enjoyable, stating, "But I enjoy it so much on the show. It's the best fun you can ever have."
Currently aged 70, Lesley is preparing for a summer concert, prompting speculation among admirers whether this performance might be their final opportunity to witness her live.
Lesley has been contemplating retiring from her singing career for a more relaxed lifestyle with her partner in the south of France, which she revealed to the Sunday Express.
When discussing retirement, Lesley suggested: "I do think about retiring, because I don't want to go on when I'm not as good as I was."
Lesley continued: "I want to quit while I'm ahead. I don't want to carry on past my sell-by date. My voice is changing, as voices do. It's still beautiful in the middle, but I can't get as high as I used to."
She further elaborated that every season, she wonders if it could be her last. She considers this season to be potentially her last, citing her age: "Every season I think could be my last. This one I seriously think could be my last year, because I am 70 and it seems like a very round number – I've been doing this for exactly 45 years."
Upon her retirement, members of the Royal Family would likely miss Lesley's beautiful voice, following her numerous performances at Royal engagements.
Regarding her work for the Royals, the South Yorkshire-born singer revealed: "I have sung for King Charles and met him several times. I sang for both the King and Queen recently."
Lesley expressed admiration for their dedication to duty, saying, "I really enjoy it, I think they do a great job. Their duty to the country is something that is very important to them. The King is very knowledgeable about opera and classical music in general, and the Duchess of Gloucester is very interested too. I've sung for her several times."

Fearne Cotton's ex husband Jesse Wood looks loved-up with Made in Chelsea's Gemma Gregory as she shares cosy snaps after going public with new romance
Fearne Cotton 's estranged husband Jesse Wood looked loved-up with his new girlfriend Gemma Gregory as he shared a series of photos on Friday. The musician, 48, revealed his romance with the former Made in Chelsea star, 39, is hotting up - two months after going public. Gemma posted several loved-up pictures to Instagram, showing her and Jesse cuddling and joking around together - including one in a sunny country field. The London-born actress and former model captioned the post: 'Love if the frequency of magic, followed by star and red heart emojis. One friend commented, 'Gem you look so happy, glad you found a person who makes you happy.' Another said, 'You look so happy.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Insiders say the relationship is progressing quickly - and it looks to be far more than a casual rebound following the shock collapse of Jesse's decade-long marriage to TV presenter Fearne last December. 'It's getting serious now. Jesse and Gemma are spending loads of time together and things are clearly going well,' a source close to the pair told MailOnline. 'He's been through a rough patch emotionally, but Gemma's really lifted him. They've got chemistry and a lot in common - she makes him laugh, and he feels relaxed around her. It's definitely more than a fling.' The couple first went public in April when Gemma posted a sunny snap of Jesse hugging her tightly with the caption: 'Bloody love this one'. It came just weeks after photos of Fearne kissing her new boyfriend, TV director Elliot Hegarty, emerged. Fearne, 43, addressed her split from Jesse for the first time on Lorraine earlier this year, calling the situation 'very amicable' and saying the children - son Rex, 11, and daughter Honey, 8 - were 'doing great'. She also spoke candidly about her health struggles, revealing that she had undergone surgery to remove two benign tumours from her jaw last year. Jesse, meanwhile, has remained tight-lipped publicly, though his stepmother Jo Wood - ex-wife of his father Ronnie Wood - has spoken about the split. 'I was shocked, actually. I didn't expect Fearne to have a new boyfriend. And Jesse was devastated,' she told the Mail earlier this year. 'But sometimes in life, you have to go through these things… I'm sure Jesse's going to be very happy. These things work out. Their time was up - they had to move on.' She also said she looked forward to meeting Gemma, describing the relationship at the time as 'all very new'. Gemma, who has a son, Benji, from a previous relationship, is no stranger to the spotlight. She played young Estella in the 1999 adaptation of Great Expectations, and briefly appeared in Made in Chelsea in 2012 thanks to her long-time friendship with Hugo Taylor. She's also previously been romantically linked to aristocrat Nicholas Knatchbull - the godson of Prince Charles - and England polo captain Henry Brett. Despite her Chelsea connections and glamorous past, Gemma has kept a relatively low profile in recent years - though friends say she's now 'glowing' with happiness. Meanwhile, Fearne appears to be embracing her own new chapter, saying in a recent interview that she feels the happiest she's been in years and wants to focus on 'having fun' in her forties. Speaking to BBC Radio 2's Scott Mills, she said: 'I'm really happy… I'm springing out of bed in the morning ready for life.'

More info Bradley Walsh has suggested that Paul Sinha "handed his notice in" after an "unbelievable" game. The Chaser was up against four new contestants - Ian, Jennie, Gregor and Karen - all keen to test their trivia knowledge on the popular ITV quiz show. First up was Ian, a magician from London, who put on a stellar performance in the Cash Builder round. Ian managed to bag £6,000 before going head-to-head with The Chaser, in this case, Paul Sinha, also known as The Sinnerman. The next contestant, Gregor, also fell short of beating The Sinnerman, reports the Liverpool Echo. (Image: ITV) However, Karen left viewers gobsmacked when she opted to take The Chaser's higher offer of a staggering £93,000. Paul quipped: "This is either brilliant news for Ian, or terrible news for Ian." Social media was abuzz after Karen's bold move on the quiz show, with one viewer exclaiming: "Karen didn't even stutter taking that high offer" while another cheered: "Good girl!" A third supporter shared their excitement: "We just cheered for her." Reflecting on the team's victory, The Chaser conceded: "You absolutely deserve every penny of that." (Image: ITV) Despite expressing his own disappointment at losing a game with such a significant sum at stake. He ruefully noted: "I've cost ITV £100,000 but you don't need to care about any of that." Bradley couldn't resist a quip at The Sinnerman's expense, joking: "That's a funny way to hand in your notice." He described the match as "unbelievable" as Ian and Karen each walked away with a hefty £50,000. When discussing their plans for the windfall, Ian revealed his intention to purchase a new car, while Karen expressed her desire to treat her son to the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix.
