Alabama and Maryland's March Madness double-OT thriller inspired elite memes

On Monday, No. 5 seed Alabama and No. 4 seed Maryland had a game for the ages.
Not to be dramatic, but the second-round March Madness matchup between the Crimson Tide and the Terrapins was easily the best game of the women's NCAA tournament thus far. Maryland was down 17 points in the third quarter and came roaring back. With two minutes left in regulation, Alabama was up by 4 when Maryland continued pushing, eventually tying the game at 80 all. Alabama senior Sarah Ashlee Barker, who had a sensational 45-point day, launched a gutsy 3-pointer, putting the Tide up ― only to have the Terps answer right back, pushing the game into the first overtime.
Maryland had all the momentum in extra time, nearly taking Alabama to the brink of elimination. But Barker was fouled on a 3-point attempt just seconds before time expired. She drained all three free throws and sent the game to double-overtime. Maryland's Sarah Te-Biasu (and guard Shyanne Sellers) continued trading buckets with Barker, elevating the matchup to instant classic status as it inched toward a third overtime. Perhaps it was the mercy of the basketball gods who knew the players and everyone watching wouldn't last much longer.
A deflection promptly ended the game, sending Maryland to the Sweet 16. (*dramatically gasps*)

ESPN Reveals the Top College Football Play of the Last 25 Years

ESPN Reveals the Top College Football Play of the Last 25 Years originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There are some college football plays that stick around in fans' minds long after the final whistle blows. Advertisement ESPN ranked the top-25 plays since 2000 ahead of the 2025 season, listing some of the most memorable moments of the 21st century. Not surprisingly, the top of the list includes unlikely plays that led to championships. Ranked fourth is Alabama's improbable game-winning touchdown pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to DeVonta Smith in overtime of the 2018 national championship game against Georgia. Texas quarterback Vince Young's game-winning touchdown run against USC in the 2005 Rose Bowl ranks third. Boise State's "trickeration" in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma comes in at No. 2, with ESPN including both the fourth quarter "Hook and Ladder" play and the overtime "Statue of Liberty" call that helped propel the Broncos to victory. Advertisement Each of those plays were surprisingly successful in their own way, but one play since 2000 arguably sits above the rest: Auburn's "Kick Six" in the 2013 Iron Bowl against in-state rival Alabama. Alabama wide receiver Caleb Sims (29) grabs for Auburn cornerback Chris Davis (11) during the "Kick Six" play in 2013Amanda Sowards/Advertiser Some fourth-quarter chaos took place inside Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium to cap off the 2013 regular season. Coming off back-to-back national championships, head coach Nick Saban's Crimson Tide found themselves tied at 28 with 15 seconds remaining against the Tigers and head coach Gus Malzahn. Running back TJ Yeldon's 24-yard rush seemingly ran out the clock, but Alabama ultimately had a long field goal attempt after a review showed that Yeldon was pushed out of bounds with one second remaining. Advertisement Field goal kicker Cade Foster, who had missed three attempts that game, was replaced by Adam Griffith for the 57-yard try. And Griffith came up considerably short, giving Auburn defensive back Chris Davis a chance at a return. The rest is college football lore. "It's a play that will live in the hearts of Auburn fans, who can still hear the school's radio play-by-play announcer, the late Rod Bramblett, screaming 'Auburn's going to win the football game!' as Davis crossed the goal line," Chris Low wrote. Auburn fans went on to rush the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium after the No. 4 Tigers' unbelievable, last-second upset over then No. 1 Alabama. Advertisement The 2013 Iron Bowl remains as the last top-four matchup between the hated rivals and just so happens to feature one of the greatest plays in college football history. Auburn will host this year's Iron Bowl on Nov. 29 in an attempt to log its first win in the series since 2019. Nets projected to take Michigan C Danny Wolf No. 27 in 2025 NBA Draft

The Brooklyn Nets have some important decisions to make ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft that begins on June 25 in which the team will have five picks to use. Brooklyn is focused on more than just the Draft, but when it comes to their future, the Nets will have to do their homework given that the players they take this year could be crucial members of the roster. In his latest mock draft for Bleacher Report, Jonathan Wasserman projected the Nets to take Michigan center Danny Wolf with the 27th overall pick in the Draft, the last of four first-round picks Brooklyn has at its disposal. Wolf, standing at 6-foot-11 and 252 pounds, is one of the more interesting players in this class given his ability to handle the ball and shoot at his size. Advertisement "Danny Wolf made a strong, final pitch to scouts against Auburn, finishing with 20 points and a number of eye-opening highlights that showcased his creation and shotmaking," Wasserman wrote on Wolf. "Though his three-point numbers might not indicate shooting improvement, he added a pull-up and step-back to his repertoire this year." Wolf, 21, is coming off a junior season with the Wolverines in which he averaged 13.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 33.6% from three-point land. Wolf put forth his production for a Michigan team that finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 27-10 record, allowing them to make the NCAA Tournament where they made it all the way to the Sweet 16 before losing to the Auburn Tigers. While it will be interesting to see if Wolf last until the 27th overall pick in a class that seems to taper off around the 12th pick or so, his skill set will be interesting for every team that has a first-round pick outside of the Lottery. "A 7-footer who made 21 dribble jumpers, served as Michigan's lead playmaker and still averaged 9.7 boards and 1.4 blocks is bound to entice a number of teams," Wasserman continued. Who is married to Aaron Rodgers? Here's what we know.

No, your eyes weren't deceiving you: Aaron Rodgers has been wearing a ring on his finger that folks spotted on hand of the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. First, it was at the Kentucky Derby that the ring was spotted. Then, as he signed his contract with the Steelers earlier in the week, people noticed the band on that left hand ring finger. So ... is he married? According to Rodgers himself on Tuesday at Steelers OTAs ... yes!! He's married! Congrats to the QB who has been linked to names like Shailene Woodley and race car driver Danica Patrick. Let's tell you all that we know so far about his spouse: So, this is the part we don't know. A while back, he talked about his new significant other named "Brittani," but we're not sure if they're still together or if that's who he married or anything like that. Rodgers has kept this relationship VERY secretive. He said it's "been a couple of months" since he got hitched. But where? What kind of ceremony? Anything about that? Nope. Aaron Rodgers confirms that's a wedding ring on his finger. How long has he been married? 'Been a couple of months.' — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) June 10, 2025 Aaron Rodgers is indeed married, he says. — Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) June 10, 2025 Aaron Rodgers says the ring on his finger is, indeed, a wedding ring — and that he's been married 'for a few months.' — Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) June 10, 2025 Nope! Reporters didn't press further after meeting with him on Tuesday. This article originally appeared on For The Win: Aaron Rodgers wife: Who is he married to? Is it Brittani?
