Vacaville carjacking suspect shot by Fairfield police
(FOX40.COM) — A carjacking suspect is in the hospital after being shot by Fairfield police early Sunday morning.
The Vacaville Police Department responded to reports of a carjacking with around eight gunshots fired in the 800 block of Beelard Avenue in Vacaville.
Upon arrival, VPD located several shell casings. Officers found that the sole victim of the carjacking was not struck by the gunfire but did self-transport to the hospital for an injury to his face that was sustained to the incident.
Shortly after 5 a.m., Flock cameras in the City of Fairfield alerted officers of the stolen vehicle being within city limits, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
Following several Flock hits, officers found the carjacked vehicle in the area of Dover and East Tabor Avenue.
Two men then exited the vehicle where they engaged with a Fairfield police officer, said FPD. When the officer attempted to reach out, one of the suspects ran while the other continued walking.

The officer issued commands to the remaining man, who was armed with a handgun, according to FPD. The man ignored the officer's command and pointed his weapon at the officer.
Authorities stated that the officer responded and fired at the man, who sustained one gunshot wound. Responding officers provided medical aid at the scene, and the suspect was then transported to a local hospital to be treated.
FPD said the suspect is expected to survive, and no officers were injured during the incident.
The second man was arrested by officers and a K9 unit, said FPD.
At this time, FPD said the Solano County Officer-Involved Incident Protocol Team has responded and taken over the investigation.
