The Alabama Crimson Tide football program is off to a strong start this week regarding the 2026 recruiting class. However, the optimal word remains solid, and not perfect, after one top recruit snuck away from them on Monday.

According to Minnesota Star Tribune writer Randy Johnson, four-star 2026 tight end recruit Roman Voss has verbally committed to the Minnesota Gophers.
Voss entered the week with just two official visits in the books, having visited Minnesota in May and Alabama earlier this month. With zero tight-end recruits verbally committing to Alabama for the 2026 class, Voss' decision marks a tough blow for head coach Kalen DeBoer's recruiting efforts.

Voss is not the only recruit on Monday to pass on Alabama and pick another school. Another four-star tight end, Xavier Tiller, picked the Florida State Seminoles over the Tide. Meanwhile, four-star edge rusher Khamari Brooks verbally committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Monday, with Alabama as a finalist.

Conversely, it has been a solid day for Alabama in terms of hard commitments. Four-star running back Javari Barnett became the first rusher to pledge his allegiance to DeBoer and his staff after flipping his commitment from the Illinois Fighting Illini to Alabama.
Safety Rihyael Kelley also flipped his commitment on Monday, opting for Alabama over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Alabama is up to ten hard commits for the 2028 class. 247Sports ranks the recruiting group as the 28th best class in the country, with five-star corner Jorden Edmonds headlining the group of soon-to-be high school seniors.

Former Kansas City Chiefs TE Baylor Cupp to sign with the Baltimore Ravens

The Kansas City Chiefs made a few moves after the 2025 NFL draft on May 1st to accommodate incoming rookies. Former Texas Tech Red Raiders tight end Baylor Cupp was one of the releases and has reportedly found a new home during training camp. According to a report from CBS Sports, Cupp is signing with the Baltimore Ravens as they deal with injuries at the tight end position. Starting tight end Isaiah Likely notably went down with a foot injury in camp, requiring surgery. Cupp appeared in one game during the 2024 season but primarily spent the year on the practice squad after initially signing as an undrafted free agent. During Cupp's two seasons at Patrick Mahomes' alma mater, Texas Tech, in 2022 and 2023, he appeared in 24 games, tallying 23 catches for 246 yards and four touchdowns. The Chiefs have seen immediate progress from their 2025 undrafted free agent tight end, Jake Briningstool. The rookie from Clemson has made impressive plays in camp and is considered a serious contender to make the final roster. Transfer news, rumors: Sesko to Manchester United; Garnacho to Chelsea

It appears that Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United could happen, while the door has been left wide open for Alejandro Garnacho to depart Old Trafford with Chelsea a possible destination. MORE — Every in and out for all 20 Premier League clubs this summer Below is the latest on two talented young forwards who are on the hunt for a new home. Manchester United talks for Benjamin Sesko continue The latest reports regarding Manchester United signing Benjamin Sesko focus on talks restarting between RB Leipzig and United. Per a report from David Ornstein, United remain in talks with Leipzig but are yet to bid for Sesko. A report from Sky Germany says that Sesko's agents arrived in Leipzig on Saturday and have held talks over the last few days. Fabrizio Romano has also said that United will bid for Sesko but only if he indicates he would like to join the Red Devils. All of this comes after Newcastle bid over $92 million for Sesko, as they could lose Alexander Isak to Liverpool so want to line up Sesko as his replacement. However, there are various reports out there saying that Sesko would prefer a move to Manchester United and that is obviously what is being discussed this weekend, as their appears to be doubts from Leipzig about the structure of Newcastle's deal. Sesko has options and Newcastle can offer him Champions League action this season and he will be crucial for them up top. But can you say no to being a key part of Ruben Amorim's rebuild of Manchester United? Despite all of their recent struggles, the pull of Manchester United remains (almost) as strong as ever. Alejandro Garnacho linked with Chelsea as Ruben Amorim opens door for exit It has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Alejandro Garnacho is keen on a move from Manchester United to Chelsea, as talks have taken place on personal terms but the clubs are yet to discuss the deal. And these latest comments from Ruben Amorim appear to confirm the Argentine winger will be leaving Old Trafford this summer. "You can understand and you can see he's a really talented boy and sometimes things don't work out," Amorim said. "You cannot explain specifically what it is. But I have the feeling, I think it's clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership and I can understand that. So I think it's not a problem. Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection. Other times, you want a new challenge so we try to make everything okay to all the parts. To the club, to the coach and to the players. It's a natural thing in football." Chelsea have already signed some very talented attackers this summer (Estevao, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, so far) to add to their incredible array of talents, but Garnacho seems like the obvious replacement for Noni Madueke as he was sold to Arsenal. Garnacho would suit Enzo Maresca's style of play well, especially his ability on the counter and to cut inside, and he does have a clinical edge which Chelsea need more of.

Ajax and Birmingham City agree Akpom loan

According to Voetbal International's Tim van Duijn, Birmingham City will sign Chuba Akpom on loan from Ajax with a permanent option if the club go up to the Premier League. Akpom was acquired from Middlesbrough in 2023 for around 12 million euros, but never fully took off at Ajax. The striker was useful as a super-sub and found praise for his unwavering commitment. However, he is a high earner and was therefore at the top of the list to leave. Although Ajax preferred to sell Akpom, that wasn't feasible in the short term. By loaning him out, Ajax still saves a significant amount on wages. Birmingham City will also pay a loan fee. Last season, Akpom spent time on loan at Lille, where he scored three goals in 14 Ligue 1 games. Akpom is already on his way to England to complete his transfer to Birmingham City – who were promoted to the Championship last season. GBeNeFN | Max Bradfield
