Lorry Overturns On Kesas Highway, Causing Chemical Spill

SHAH ALAM, July 18 (Bernama) -- A container lorry skidded and overturned on the Kesas Highway here this morning, causing the chemicals it was carrying to spill onto the road.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the driver of the Shah Alam-bound lorry sustained minor injuries.
He said the department was alerted to the incident at about 10.25 am and arrived at the scene 15 minutes later.

As such, I advise the public not to be deceived by such documents, which clearly contain elements of fraud and impersonation,' he said. He said the ministry had taken note of the matter and is working together with the authorities to conduct further investigation. Those who have any doubts about the authenticity of documents or communications allegedly from the ministry are advised to contact the ministry's official channels via its website at or the ministry's official hotline. Previously, a letter had gone viral on social media claiming that a gratuity payment of over RM26 million was supposed to be presented to the next of kin of an individual at a ceremony to be held at the ministry here today. — Bernama

Captions and comments on the viral video claim that the suspect had burglarised a home in Batu Maung, Penang, and was nabbed by the homeowner and friend when he returned to the scene of the crime to retrieve personal belongings he had left behind. VERDICT: TRUE Southwest OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam confirmed the incident, telling Bernama that the suspect had been nabbed on Monday (Aug 4). He told Bernama that initial investigations revealed that the suspect had entered the house through the back door while a domestic worker was outside disposing of the trash. "When the suspect noticed the homeowner's presence, he tried to escape but later returned to collect some items he had left behind. "The homeowner and a friend managed to apprehend the suspect and handed him over to a police patrol unit (MPV) in Zone 3, Batu Maung," he said in a statement Monday. The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamines, and benzodiazepines in an initial urine test. He also has a prior record of drug-related offences.
