Chetan Hansraj said that even the Hollywood crew of the film was impressed by Nitesh Tiwari's vision.
The anticipation surrounding Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana is at an all-time high as actor Chetan Hansraj has confirmed his inclusion in the film. Chetan will be seen as Raavan's maternal grandfather, Sumali, in the movie. Chetan recently revealed that he has shot for his sequences and cannot wait for the audience to witness the visual spectacle that Nitesh Tiwari has envisioned.
Speaking to Minutes of Masala recently, Chetan said, 'I just finished Ramayana, Ranbir and Yash ka jo hai. It's one of the best things I have done in my life. What a shoot! It was unbelievable. The scale it's being done at and the whole Hollywood crew we worked with- legends of Hollywood. Ek hi picture main saare legends ke saath kaam kar diya, it was too good."
Chetan added, 'I'm playing Raavan's nana in the film. It's a very crucial role… It starts with him. It's one of the best shoots I've ever done in my life. I can't say more, but it is by far the best shoot I've ever done… Abhi toh chaalu hua hai, jab sab saamne aaayega and shots dekhenge, you'll understand the scale it's being done at."
'I've never seen anything like this. Even the people who had come from Hollywood were like, 'Boss, this is something else.' The level they're shooting it at, it's something else… I learnt a lot by just being there on set," the actor mentioned.
Previously, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Kunal Kapoor also reflected similar sentiments. Kunal, who plays Lord Indra in the film, told us, 'This is a very important film in our cultural history. It's a really important part of our cultural ethos. I think it's important that you have filmmakers and people to give it the kind of scale it needs. This is mounted at a scale that we've never seen before."
He explained, 'It is going to be something very special that deserves the kind of movie that the story should have. I am very excited about it. I think the audience is going to be surprised by what they see… It is going to be a spectacle on a scale that nobody has seen before. It will be very special. It's up for release only late next year."
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. While Yash plays the antagonist, Raavan, Sunny Deol will be seen as Lord Hanuman. The film will also feature Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. Ravi Dubey will be seen as Lakshman, and Arun Govil will play King Dasharatha.
As for the film's release, Ranbir Kapoor and Nitesh Tiwari have locked Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 for Ramayana Part 1 and Ramayana Part 2, respectively. As per reports, the second part of the franchise will also be shot this year by October.

Strike by Telugu film workers comes to end following pact with producers

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Hyderabad, Aug 21 (PTI) The over two-week long strike by Telugu film workers over wage hike and others came to an end on Thursday following an agreement with producers. The workers and producers reached an understanding during the talks held in the presence of state labour department officials. Speaking to reporters late on Thursday, Gangadhar, a senior labour department official, said the workers' federation has demanded a 30 per cent wage hike over the last three years. The initial negotiations between the federation and producers did not yield result which led to the intervention of the department, he said. He said both parties have agreed to a 22.5 per cent wage hike over the last three years. He said, among others, hikes of 15 per cent, 2.5 per cent and five per cent (total 22.5 per cent) would be made for the last three years respectively to 'low wage' workers. The official added that a committee, headed by a bureaucrat, would go into other issues, including service conditions. Film shootings came to a halt since August 4 when the strike began over the demand for 30 per cent wage hike and others. Alexander, a leader of the workers, had said earlier that the hike is not for 30 per cent at once, but 10 per cent annually, which is due this year. However, the hike has not been effected since the last four months, he alleged. Damodar Prasad, Secretary of Telugu Film Chamber, had earlier said the workers 'unilaterally" decided to work only for producers who pay them the increased wages though talks were ongoing with the involvement of the labour department. He had said the Telugu film industry already pays higher wages to union workers than other state film industries. Kriti Sanon criticizes Bollywood's gender pay gap, says producers fear investing: 'Female-led films don't make as much money as male-led films'

Kriti Sanon spoke out against gender pay inequality in Bollywood, noting that female-led films often have smaller budgets due to producers' fears of lower returns. She emphasized that equal work deserves equal pay and expressed optimism as content-driven films featuring strong female leads are gradually gaining recognition and success. Kriti Sanon recently openly addressed the persistent problem of gender pay inequality in Bollywood. She emphasized the entertainment industry's enduring hesitation to offer equal pay to male and female actors and challenged the logic behind differing salaries when the responsibilities and efforts are identical. Confusion over lack of pay parity Speaking to News18, Kriti said that considering all the other industries, she doesn't understand why pay parity is not there. She believes that for certain kinds of roles and jobs, whether one is male or female, it shouldn't matter, and the pay should be the same. She acknowledged that in films, this conversation has been ongoing for a very long time and admitted that it affects them more than anyone else. Budget disparities between male and female-led films She added that even if a film is led by a woman, it is not typically budgeted on the same scale as a film led by a man. This, she explained, is because producers are afraid they won't recover as much money. She described it as a cycle where female-led films don't earn as much as male-led films, which then leads to the justification that his fees are higher or her fees are lower. Optimism about changing attitudes The actress remains hopeful despite the obstacles, observing that the industry's mindset is gradually changing. She pointed out that films focused on strong content are starting to gain prominence, no matter if the lead roles are played by men or women. Highlighting the success of female-led films Referring to the success of the women-led movie 'Crew', she highlighted how important it is for female-led films to be fun and have big budgets. She encouraged producers to focus on strong stories when taking risks, rather than the gender of the lead actors. The 2024 film featured Kriti along with Tabu and Kareena Kapoor . Discontinuing paid games, free titles like Ludo to stay: Zupee

Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) Gaming platform Zupee on Thursday said it is discontinuing its paid games in view of the Online Gaming Bill that was passed by the Parliament. However, Zupee's free titles like Ludo Supreme, Ludo Turbo, Snakes & Ladders, and Trump Card Mania will continue to be available for all users, the company said in a statement. 'Zupee remains fully operational and our players can continue to enjoy their favourite games on the platform. In line with the new Online Gaming Bill 2025, we are discontinuing paid games," a Zupee spokesperson said. Parliament on Thursday passed a bill to ban all forms of online money games and promote eSports and online social gaming, with the Rajya Sabha approving it without debate amid din. Piloting The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 in the Upper House, Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw said the legislation will promote two-thirds of the online gaming segment. The bill, he said, will ban online money games, which have become a big problem for society, especially middle-class youth. The bill also seeks to prohibit advertisements related to online money games, as well as bars banks and financial institutions from facilitating or transferring funds for any of such games.
