Sayyid Shihab chairs Social Protection Committee meet

Muscat – The ministerial committee entrusted with the Social Protection Scheme held a meeting under the patronage of H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs and Chairman of the Social Protection Committee, on Monday. The meeting was attended by ministers who are members of the committee.
The meeting discussed a number of topics on its agenda and took appropriate decisions.
The meeting also touched on the main indicators of the number of beneficiaries of social protection benefits, as well as indicators of insured persons.
The meeting discussed annual plans of two related funds – Social Protection Fund and Military and Security Services Retirement Fund.
One of the most important objectives of the Social Protection Committee is evaluation of and monitoring the performance of the Social Protection Scheme. The overall aim is to ensure the application of a fair, functional and sustainable insurance coverage for all segments of society and to achieve the objectives set for the Social Protection Scheme.
