He has been recuperating in Portugal and turned up at training as Brendan Rodgers put his squad through their paces.
Celts take on Estrela da Amadora in Lisbon tomorrow morning, then head for the Algarve to face Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday evening.
After low-key friendly wins at Queen's Park and Cork City, Arne Engels says they are stepping up the summer work.
The £11million Belgian midfielder, in his first pre-season with the Hoops, said: 'It's been a tough couple of weeks already.
'We are having double sessions and it's a good preparation for the season.
'It's always nice to get away a bit from Glasgow and to be here with all the boys is amazing.
'We have unfinished business with the team that we didn't do last year. Hopefully we can reach that. It's going to be a really exciting season for all of us.'
Meanwhile, Celtic-bound Shin Yamada insists he's focused only on playing for Japan after making his international debut ahead of a £1.5m move.
The Kawasaki Frontale striker, 25, is ready to travel to Glasgow for a medical after he plays in the EAFF E-1 Football Championship, with the final game against South Korea next week.
He won his first cap by coming off the bench in Japan's 6-1 win over Hong Kong in a match watched by just 687 fans.
The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up
While Yamada admitted he was proud of making his international debut, he is unhappy at his return of two goals in 21 games this season compared with 19 last term.
He said: 'I went into the game with the feeling this was my chance to impress. Although we won, I could have done more.
'On a personal note, I have had a disappointing season. I set high standards for myself and I don't think I met them."

Arsenal star in talks to leave after being left out of squad against Man Utd
Jakub Kiwior is in talks to leave Arsenal and join Portuguese giants Porto before the summer transfer window closes. The Poland international was left out of the Gunners squad that took on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. A goal after 13 minutes from Riccardo Calafiori was enough to seal all three points for Mikel Arteta's side in their opening game of the new Premier League season. Kiwior has been repeatedly linked with a move away from north London during the summer with interest from Porto emerging earlier this month. Reports in Portugal suggested Porto had given up on a prospective move after learning of Arsenal's huge £26m asking price. Metro's new weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every Friday – sign up, it's an open goal. The club have since signed Jan Bednarek in a €7.5m (£6.5m) deal from Southampton but latest reports suggest Porto have not given up on a move and are back in talks with the player. Polish outlet Meczyki claim a deal is being discussed with hope of an agreement being reached next week. Kiwior's preference is to join a club away from the Premier League if Arsenal decide to cash in. More Trending William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are the firm first-choice pairing in north London with Jurrien Timber, Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori all capable of operating at centre-half. While he has been a backup option since joining from Spezia in a deal worth £20m in January 2023, Kiwior proved his worth last season after Arsenal lost Gabriel to a hamstring injury. 'He deserves a lot of credit because he hasn't played too much throughout many months, and suddenly he's been thrown into the most difficult context, at the highest level, playing against the best opponents, when you haven't had the physical rhythm or the confidence to do it, and I think he's been exceptional,' Arteta said. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Viera were also left out of the squad with Arsenal sanctioning exits for the trio. Bob MacInytre suffers BMW Championship agony as Scottie Scheffler overhauls Oban hero's four point deficit
It wasn't to be for the Oban star who had held a four shot lead over Scheffler going into the final day of play in Maryland Bob MacIntyre was left reeling after Scottie Scheffler overturned a four-shot lead to reign supreme at the BMW Championship. The Scottish hero had gone into the final day in Maryland with a healthy advantage after a stellar display on Saturday but was simply no watch for the American in the end, who pipped him to the PGA title by two shots. World number one and three-time major champion Scheffler capped off a fine comeback with an exquisite chip-in on the 17th hole to edge him towards victory at the Caves Valley Golf Club. The New Jersey star's glory in 2025 is showing no signs of slowing down, adding the BMW title to the PGA Championship and Open Championship crowns lifted by Scheffler earlier this year. It turned out to be a disappointing final day for MacIntyre who bogeyed his first two holes and wasn't able to register a birdie until the third-last whole. The 2024 Scottish Open winner shot 73 in total, with Scheffler finishing on a 15-under-par total after a final score of 67. Maverick McNealy finished third on 11 under. Elswwhe Shane Lowry comfortably qualified for the PGA Tour 's season-ending Tour Championship for only the second time in his career while Rory McIlroy bounced back five birdies from the ninth hole for a level-par round of a three under total score of 70. Speaking after his triumph, Scheffler said: "I think my consistency has a lot to do with the intensity I bring to each round. " I try not to take days or shots off. "When it gets to this time of the year it can be a little bit tiring, today was a grind." And goalkeeper Altay Bayindir was blasted by Roy Keane for his role in the defensive calamity that led to Arsenal's winner. However, Amorim left supporters stunned at full-time when he delivered his thoughts on United's performance. The home side enjoyed more possession on Sunday and had 22 shots to Arsenal's 9. Ruben Amorim breaks DAMNING Premier League record as Man Utd beaten by Arsenal This led Amorim to declare that United were the better side on the day – before adding that his men 'can win any game.' The tactician boomed: 'We prove today that we can win any game in the Premier League, especially against a great team like Arsenal. 'We were the better team. It's our feeling that we played better. In the end, we lose the game, but I'm really proud of the effort they put in and that is important to move forward. 'We were more aggressive than last year, we sprinted more, we were more brave. Fans teased Amorim by saying: 'He's taking lessons from Mikel Arteta.' Another declared: 'How can they prove they can win any game when they lost?' One noted: 'He's giving Erik ten Hag vibes.' Another added: 'Better team and you still lost.' Meanwhile, Amorim defended his decision to play reserve goalkeeper Bayindir after his blunder led to Arsenal's winner. The Turkish international flapped at a Declan Rice corner under pressure from William Saliba and presented Calafiori with a simple finish. Red Devils legend Keane blasted the understudy, who started as regular No 1 Andre Onana was not considered match fit. United boss Amorim and captain Bruno Fernandes stuck up for Bayindir – saying the goal should have been ruled out for a foul. 6 Amorim stuck up for Altay Bayinder after his high-profile error Credit: Getty Boss Amorim said: 'In that moment, you can choose to push a player or to get the ball. So he chooses to get the ball - but he's getting pushed. 'It's hard to accept when you lose a game like this. 'Players are touching the goalkeeper without the idea of going for the ball. So that is not allowed. 'We have referees making meetings that they should be going for the ball, but they are not going for the ball. 'They are looking for the ball. We know what they are doing.' Fernandes said: 'When you touch a goalkeeper when he wants to jump and go for the ball, that makes it difficult for him.' 'Altay was saying the moment he goes to get the ball he gets a touch but we know in the Premier League they don't give much in this type of situation. 'That's even though they had a meeting with us saying that they will whistle more if players block and don't look at the ball.' 6 Roy Keane was scathing in his criticism of Bayindir Credit: Alamy But Keane saw the incident differently, saying: 'If you are the goalkeeper just take control of the six-yard box. 'Keepers and defenders complain all the time that people are in their face - well, get in their face! 'Be aggressive. I have said many times to my goalkeeper: 'Come with violence. Come and be aggressive, that is your area, take control of it'. Asked about his decision to leave Onana on the sidelines, Amorim said it was a fitness issue, adding: 'It's not the case of dropping Ornana. 'It was not putting him in just one week after he returned, without seeing the game, without time, with training. 'I'm happy with the three goalkeepers we have.' Fernandes added: 'They created a lot, they were in the right positions. We know they are dangerous and they are a threat. 'We are very aware of what they can give to the team. It was a good first impression for them but I'm pretty sure they will do much better.' MAN UTD TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: All the latest deals and rumours from Old Trafford
