Critical: Between Life and Death OTT Release Date - If you're someone who gets hooked on real-life hospital dramas like 24 Hours in A&E, Netflix's latest documentary series, Critical: Between Life and Death, is going to hit you hard. Landing globally on July 23, 2025, this is no ordinary medical docuseries. It's raw, real, and happening in real-time.
What's it about?
Critical: Between Life and Death offers unprecedented access to the London Major Trauma System, one of the world's most advanced emergency response networks. The six-part series tracks every single step of life-saving medical intervention from the initial 999 call to the paramedics racing through traffic, to the surgeons making split-second decisions, and finally to the rehabilitation phase.
The series spans four of London's top trauma centres:
Royal London Hospital
King's College Hospital
St George's Hospital
St Mary's Hospital
These facilities handle thousands of emergency cases a day. The trauma response system covered in this series serves more than 10 million people across London and surrounding areas. And when they say 'critical,' they mean it; life and death decisions are being made every single minute.
The show is filmed using bodycams, portable single cameras, and on-the-go interview setups, placing the viewer right next to the action, whether it's a roadside resuscitation, a mid-air helicopter rescue, or open-heart surgery. Critical: Between Life and Death is made by The Garden, the British production house that knows this space inside out.
They've previously delivered hits like:
24 Hours in A&E (Channel 4)
24 Hours in Police Custody
Squid Game: The Challenge
Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers
Crew details:
Director: Jermaine Blake
Executive Producer: Spencer Kelly
Co-Executive Producers: Louise Bartmann, Rebecca Arnold
Series Producers: Mahi Iftikhar, Andrew Fitzpatrick
So mark your calendar. Because on July 23, Critical: Between Life and Death is going to take you to places few cameras have ever gone and even fewer viewers have ever seen.

In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Firstpost, he mentioned that getting into role wasn't easy. When story is the hero, 'Someone who has spent more time with the script is more involved in that character and the story. When we read script for the first time you just get the idea. But when you read it for the second and third time, then you understand the layering of your character better. For me it wasn't that difficult because there was lot more in the script. My character actually has just one emotion. He didn't have any multiple agendas. He was caught in a situation and he had to react to that situation. As an actor my job was to perform that situation and it was not even hidden. For me that scene was the most important scene.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD A scene from Netflix's 'Saare Jahan Se Accha' The scene that stole our heart 'This was a turning point for Naushad,' he shares. 'It required tapping into a very internal, vulnerable space.' He admits that he grappled with how to approach it. 'Should I cry a lot? Should I play it blank? Or stay somewhere in between?' The uncertainty, he says, made it both challenging and creatively fulfilling. 'I kept asking myself how much emotion was too much. But that's what made it special.' Despite its heaviness, the scene was one he remembers fondly. 'It was quite emotional,' he says, 'but I had a really good time shooting it.' Anup hopes the scene resonated with viewers for its honesty and rawness. 'It's one of those rare moments where a character stops hiding.'

When two worlds of comedy collide—one in Hindi, one in English—you get a moment that transcends language. On a historic night at Madison Square Garden recently, Indian stand-up sensation Zakir Khan made history with a full house and a full Hindi set. Watching from the wings and cheering from the front row was none other than Hasan Minhaj, the Indian-American comedian, who proudly fanboyed over Zakir's milestone with the energy of a younger sibling watching his big brother win. A historic night for the South Asian comedy community On August 17, 2025, Zakir Khan made history by becoming the first comedian to headline a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden with an all-Hindi set. The event marked a significant milestone in South Asian entertainment, proving that Hindi-language comedy can captivate global audiences at one of the world's most prestigious venues. Hasan Minhaj, the well-known Indian-American comedian and former Patriot Act host, attended the show and publicly expressed his admiration for Zakir's achievement. Hasan Minhaj lauds Zakir Khan's historic feat Although Hasan did not perform at the event, he used his platform to celebrate Zakir's success. He praised the Farzi Mushaira star's storytelling and the cultural significance of the show, emphasising the importance of such representation on a global stage. In a heartfelt Instagram post the next morning, Hasan wrote, 'A historic night for comedy around the world! Last night I got to see my brother Zakir Bhai become the first comedian in history to headline Madison Square Garden entirely in Hindi.' He joked that his own parents probably now love Zakir more than him — 'and I'm okay with that.' Hasan Minhaj's stylish appearance Aside from his heartfelt opening act, Hasan also attracted attention for his fashion choice at the event. He wore a full outfit from SAAF GARMENTS, including a pleated long jacket in black suede, a pleated cummerbund in black velvet, high-waisted side-adjuster pants in black, and black grain loafers. His attire was noted for its elegance and cultural influence, complementing the significance of the occasion. Meanwhile, on the acting front, the former Patriot Act host is set to star in the upcoming Netflix original film Best of the Best. The coming-of-age comedy, directed by Lena Khan (Flora and Ulysses, Never Have I Ever), delves into the competitive world of collegiate Bollywood dance. Minhaj co-wrote the screenplay with Prashanth Venkataramanujam and is producing the film through his company, 186K Films. The cast includes Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever) and Priyanka Kedia (Everything To Me).
