A HIT horror series based on a bestselling book franchise has been AXED after just two seasons.
The chilling show had built up a cult following thanks to its eerie twists and terrifying cliffhangers, but streaming bosses have pulled the plug despite its loyal fanbase.

The rebooted Goosebumps series, which starred Friends legend David Schwimmer, had brought R.L. Stine's iconic spooky stories to a whole new generation.
But despite strong reviews and a wave of nostalgia-fuelled buzz, Disney+ and Hulu have decided not to move forward with a third season.
The series originally debuted on Disney+ in October 2023 and quickly gained momentum.
Across its two-season run, Goosebumps racked up an impressive 75 million hours viewed in the U.S. alone, with an additional 43 million hours across 16 international markets.
Each season of Goosebumps was packed with spooky nods to R.L. Stine's iconic books – from cursed masks to creepy dummies.
Series one followed five teens uncovering a chilling mystery linked to a classmate who died decades earlier.
Season two saw twin siblings stumble on terrifying secrets after moving in with their newly single dad — and things quickly took a freaky turn.
The hit book series, published by Scholastic, is one of the best-selling of all time, with over 400 million copies sold and editions in 32 languages.
There are now more than 200 Goosebumps books – and it's no stranger to the screen either.
It was first turned into a 90s TV classic and later spawned two Hollywood films in 2015 and 2018.

Meanwhile, Disney is making some huge changes to its streamed TV offering with a new brand coming to the UK for the first time.
Hulu will be the new name for Star, the destination for non-Disney grown-up movies and major TV series like The Bear and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
The Hulu brand has been around for years across the pond in the US.
Disney has been running Hulu and Disney+ as two separate apps over there, but they're set to be merged next year.
HOW TO GET DISNEY+ FREE
You can currently get Disney+ free for up to a year if you buy an Uber One subscription.
Uber One is the ride-hailing app's paid perk which unlocks discounts for travel and takeaways.
It costs £49.99 for a year.
And at the moment they're throwing in access to Disney+ Standard for a year on top, which usually costs £89.80 alone.
This will mean the end of Hulu as a standalone streaming app.
However, the brand will live on within Disney as a section, much like it will in the UK when it replaces Star.
US viewers will still be able to pay for separate Hulu and Disney+ subscriptions as they do currently.
"Today, we're announcing a major step in enhancing our streaming offering by fully integrating Hulu into Disney Plus,' Disney CEO Bob Iger and CFO Hugh Johnston said during the company's quarterly earnings call.
"This will deliver a powerful entertainment package — combining top-tier brands and franchises, general entertainment, family programming, news, and industry-leading live sports — all within a single app."
Hulu is expected to replace Star outside of the US in the autumn.
This will mean the six content channels available to watch on Disney+ in the UK will be:
Disney
Pixar
Marvel
Star Wars
National Geographic
Hulu

Sarah Michelle Gellar proves she still slays in first look at Buffy revamp

We finally have our first images of Sarah Michelle Gellar on set for the rebooted and retooled Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The actress, 48, will reprise her role as Buffy Summers for the upcoming relaunch of the iconic 90s teen drama. Its original series ran for seven seasons between 1997 and 2003, and followed teenage vampire slayer Buffy as she battled bloodsuckers, demons, banshees and bad boyfriends alike. Over two decades later, a revival of the show is in the works with Hulu, with the actress also serving as executive producer. Featuring a new cast of fresh-faced vampire hunters, Gellar has promised that the show will 'try to find a balance between new and old characters' – with Buffy leading the charge. If this first glimpse of an all-grown-up Buffy is anything to go by, the fashionista vampire hunter still slays, all these years later. Pictured in Los Angeles, where both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and spin-off Angel were filmed, Buffy's new look is a striking departure from her teenage self. Once a trailblazer for 90s grunge and early 2000s fashion, middle-aged Buffy (feel old yet?) has swapped the leather jacket and leopard skin for a bright red top and matching skirt. She partnered this with a pair of crimson stilettos (with a heel high and sharp enough to pierce any vampire's heart) and a pink bag. Gellar officially shared the news that she was set to reprise her most famous role earlier this year. In a lengthy Instagram post, she explained that talks had begun three years ago, when 'dear friend and mentor' Gail Berman asked her to take a meeting with Eternals director Chloé Zhao. 'I was blown away that Chloé even knew who I was, but, as I've always done, I told Gail that I just didn't see a way for the show to exist again. We'd always been aligned on that, but this time I heard something different in her voice,' she explained. 'I eventually agreed to go (mainly just to meet Chloé) and our twenty minute coffee quickly turned into a four hour adventure. We laughed, we cried, but mostly we both talked about how much this show means to us.' Sarah continued: 'While I didn't agree to anything at that meeting, I did shock myself by agreeing to continue the conversation. These conversations did, in fact, continue over the next few years and eventually we added the incredible Nora and Lilla Zuckerman to our little tribe until ultimately, one day, we landed on an idea.' Promising that 'we will only make this show if we know we can do it right,' she assured fans: 'I will tell you that we are on the path there.' 'I feel so lucky to be on this journey with these four unbelievably talented women, all of whom love 'Buffy' as much as I as much as you do. 'Thank you to all the fans who never stopped asking for this. This will be for you.' According to Deadline, series creator Joss Whedon will have no involvement in the reboot. While it remains to be seen which other members of the original cast will return, the show has already found its next generation of vampire hunters. In May, it was announced that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Ryan Kiera Armstrong had joined the cast as Sunnydale's newest Slayer. Sharing the news as she welcomed 15-year-old Ryan aboard, Gellar wrote: 'From the moment I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. 'To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.' Earlier this month, Deadline reported that actors Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso and Jack Cutmore-Scott had also joined the show as series regulars. The original show was beloved for its extended cast, which included Alyson Hannigan as Willow Rosenberg, Anthony Head as librarian Giles, and broody vampires Spike (James Marsters) and Angel (David Boreanaz). One tragic void left in the cast will be Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy's younger sister, Dawn. According to a source for the actress had been 'incredibly hopeful' that she might also reprise her role for the reboot. 'Sarah Michelle obviously felt that the reboot would need her as much as it needed Sarah,' an insider said, claiming that she had a 'pivotal role,' and that 'everyone was aware of her recent health struggles'. 'They were hoping that, perhaps, casting her as Sarah's sister in a reboot would help her overcome any issues she was having. She was not cast out by any means.' Trachtenberg died before this could come to pass, after being found in a luxury apartment complex in New York, aged 39. More Trending In tribute to her late co-star, Gellar shared a series of snaps from their time together. She captioned the post: 'Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you.' View More » All seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are currently streaming on ITVX. Hollywood A-lister Mel Gibson reveals REAL reason Braveheart wasn't filmed in Scotland

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MEL Gibson has made a surprising confession and revealed the real reason why some Braveheart scenes weren't filmed in Scotland. The Aussie-born superstar, 69, portrayed legendary Scots freedom fighter Sir William Wallace, whilst also directing the 1995 blockbuster. He came clean at a special event as part of King John's Summer Prom Festival at the Trim Castle Hotel, Co Meath, as the Oscar-winning epic celebrated its 30th anniversary. Speaking to RTÉ News, Mel explained that while they were filming in Scotland for the £150million movie, they struggled when it came to big battle scenes. This was because the ground wasn't as "friendly" for the horses, and they were then invited to film these scenes over in Ireland. RTÉ News shared a clip of Mel opening up about the scenes after thanking the people of Ireland for the role they played in the making of Braveheart. They posted: "Mr Gibson, who directed, produced and starred in the 1995 film, was speaking in Trim today as part of a series of events that are taking place to mark the 30th anniversary of the making of the movie. We filmed for six weeks in Scotland, and it did everything we wanted it to... we got a lot of great stuff there Mel Gibson "Despite its Scottish setting, the iconic film was primarily shot in Ireland with locations in counties Kildare, Meath and Wicklow providing the landscape for many of its medieval scenes." In the video, Mel said: "Initially, we went to Scotland, and, of course, it was fantastic. "We filmed for six weeks in Scotland, and it did everything we wanted it to, I mean, Ben Nevis, you know, fits perfectly in the frame, and we got a lot of great stuff there. "But, unfortunately, for the big battle scenes, the ground in Scotland wasn't as horse-friendly as here [Ireland]. Braveheart fans go mad for Mel Gibson as he's asked about independence "So, you had more horses, and the ground was friendlier to the horses. "And so we were fortunate at the time that the Minister for Arts and Culture was Michael D. Higgins, and he opened up the doors for us and said, 'Hey, we got good ground, we got horses, we got the reserve army'. "And they were all within proximity. "So that was a great help in achieving what we had to achieve, and we achieved it, I think." Michael D. Higgins, and he opened up the doors for us... that was a great help in achieving what we had to achieve Mel Gibson Fans flocked to the comments of the post after being impressed with Mel's latest revelation. One person said: "Say what you want about Mel, Braveheart is a masterpiece". Another added: "Brilliant story!" Someone else wrote: "One of my all-time favourite movies". While a fourth posted: "Very cool!!" And a fifth chimed in: "One of the best films made". The comments come after Mel recently admitted that he faked it as a film director when he was making Braveheart. He revealed that he had to pretend to the crew and enormous cast that he was totally in control of the £150million blockbuster. At another event celebrating the film's 30th anniversary at a Fan Expo convention in Philadelphia, US, he said he has to "pretend" to know what he was doing whilst on set. Mel recalled: "It was only my second outing as a director, and it was a massive shoot. ACCENT HELP A FORMER child star from Braveheart has revealed how he used to slag off Mel Gibson's dodgy Scots accent on set. And it led to the Hollywood A-lister to beg him to help improve his brogue. ndrew Weir, from Ayr, played William Wallace's best pal Hamish in the Oscar-winning flick. And he even managed to get family friend James Robinson a crucial part as the young freedom fighter. But the pair would regularly fall into hysterics at the Aussie actor's attempt to master our dialect. Andrew, who now lives in New York, previously said: 'I think Mel liked that we were kids and not intimidated by him. "We used to laugh at his accent, and he would ask us to help him make it better.' 'There were about 3,000 people on the set. They're all looking at you like you know what you're doing. 'So I pretended I knew what I was doing. But somehow it all came together. "Logistically speaking, it was a monster — from feeding everybody to getting them all to look like they were in the war.' Gibson said his 'proudest achievement' was avoiding serious injuries in the movie's many battle scenes. He explained: 'One guy got a hangnail and another got a broken nose and twisted ankle, but that was it. 'It was a long shoot — there were 105 shooting days. We didn't get any days off.' 'But I'm really proud of the end result. It really paid off.'

Lindsay Lohan found it 'hard' to fit in with Mean Girls co-stars for one key reason

While discussing her latest role in Freakier Friday, Lindsay Lohan spoke about her struggle to connect with the other actresses on the set of hit noughties flick Mean Girls Lindsay Lohan has been back in the spotlight this summer while reprising one of her most beloved roles alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in Freakier Friday, the long-awaited sequel to Disney's 2003 hit Freaky Friday. ‌ While opening up about her bond with her co-star Julia Butters, Lohan ended up admitting that they have a very different relationship than the one she had with the actresses she starred alongside in the noughties hit Mean Girls. ‌ In an interview with The New York Times, Lohan gushed about the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star, saying: "She's my best friend in the entire world. We see each other every single day. That's not even an exaggeration." This comes as fans have gushed over Lindsey Lohan's youthful Freakier Friday premiere look which saw her 'aging backwards'. ‌ Jamie Lee Curtis sobs over Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson's 'intimate' relationship Reflecting on her time shooting Mean Girls in 2004, the then actress explained that the age gap between her and the rest of the main cast made it tricky to find her place socially. "It was hard because Rachel McAdams was so much older," Lohan revealed. "I was in school. [And] Amanda and Lacey were all hanging out. It was hard for me to find where I fit in." ‌ At the time, McAdams, who famously played queen bee Regina George, was 25, while Lacey Chabert was 21. Amanda Seyfried was 17 like Lohan, but it seems Lindsey still felt there was a distance between them. Mean Girls went on to become a defining moment in Lohan's career, and certain lines from the romcom are still referenced in pop culture two decades later. Even Freakier Friday included a clever nod to the iconic chick flick. Early in the film, viewers meet Anna's new fiancé Eric, who is played by Manny Jacinto. Their whirlwind romance is shown in a montage which ends with with October 3 circled on the calendar as their wedding date. Mean Girls fans will instantly recognise the date. In Mean Girls, when Lohan's character Cady Heron starts to have a crush on a boy in her class, she narrates their first interaction, saying, "On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was." She then turns to him on screen and says, "It's October 3rd." The date is now celebrated annually by fans as 'Mean Girls Day'. Freakier Friday came out 22 years after the original Freaky Friday, and Lohan has said she is grateful to be revisiting Anna at a new stage in life. The follow-up sees Lohan return as Anna Coleman, who once again finds herself swapping bodies with her mum Tess (Curtis). This time, the magical mishap also ropes in Anna's teenage daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and soon-to-be stepsister Lily (Sophia Hammons).
