Five M'sians to face Man Utd in Asean All-Stars squad
PETALING JAYA: The Asean All-Stars will feature five Malaysians in the Maybank Challenge Cup against Manchester United at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Wednesday (May 28).
They are goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli, rightback Azam Azmi Murad, leftback Declan Lambert, wingback Adib Abd Raop and attacking midfielder Sergio Aguero.
Azam, 24, is delighted to be part of the spectacle and hopes to be a valuable addition to the All-Stars squad led by Vietnam's South Korean coach Kim Sang-sik.
"This is a proud moment for me to take on the giants of English football.
"I will do whatever it takes to show my best and remind people of the abilities of Malaysian football," said Azam, who played for Terengganu last season on loan from Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT).

LONDON: David Beckham will be awarded a knighthood by King Charles III next week in recognition of his football career and his charity work, reports said Friday. The former England football captain is set to be named in the King's Birthday Honours List, according to the BBC and other sources. Other sporting figures who have been awarded the title include Beckham's former manager at Manchester United, Alex Ferguson, and British tennis great Andy Murray. He is an official ambassador for The King's Foundation, supporting its education programmes and "efforts to ensure young people have a greater understanding of nature" and has been a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 2005. Beckham is understood to have been on the verge of receiving a knighthood after helping London win its bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games. But UK authorities placed a red flag on his nomination due to his involvement in an alleged tax avoidance scheme, according to previous reports. He was subsequently cleared. In 2017, British newspapers printed details of leaked emails in which Beckham criticised the honours system and the honours committee, according to the BBC.

KUALA LUMPUR: Istora Senayan is fast becoming a second home for men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, who are now just one win away from reaching their third consecutive final at the famed Jakarta venue. The world No. 7 were runners-up at the Super 1000 event last year and lifted the Super 500 Indonesia Masters title at the same venue in January. On Friday, Wei Chong-Kai Wun produced a commanding performance to stun world No. 22 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty 21-19, 21-16 in just 43 minutes — their first win over the Indian pair in five meetings. "We focused on our game plan even though they were faster and stronger," said Wei Chong.
