Livid BBC Breakfast viewers blast hosts for laughing at 'nightmare' incident - raging 'it's not funny at all!'

Daily Mail16-06-2025
Livid BBC Breakfast viewers blasted the hosts for laughing at a 'nightmare' incident that was covered during Sunday's episode of the show.
Rachel Burden, 50, and Ben Boulos, 41, returned to the iconic red sofa yesterday (15 June 2025) to talk about all the latest newsworthy headlines.
The pair - who usually present the show on a Sunday - were left giggling as they spoke about viral footage of a couple who caused damage to some art work in a Palazzo Maffei museum in Verona, Italy.
Ben asked those watching at home: 'Now have you ever visited a museum and been tempted, even though you're not supposed to, to touch a piece of art and thought better of it?'
While the clip played out, Rachel added: 'Well just watch this because this is CCTV footage of a couple who decided to try out a chair.
'This was a Van Gogh style chair covered in hundreds of crystals inside a museum in Verona.'

It then showed the piece of furniture that was swaying to one side.
Rachel added: 'It wasn't supposed to look like that. It wasn't supposed to be wonky. But as you can see...'
Ben couldn't contain his laughter and let out a huge chuckle as they showed the man nearly falling off the chair.
Rachel continued: 'The man decided "I might as well try it out" and it immediately collapses.
'At which point, him and his wife say "quick! get out of here!"
'It's left there looking, I think, not necessarily the worst for that interaction with the tourists.'
'It now tells a story,' Ben added. 'It tells a new story. Art evolves doesn't it?'
'They've added, you can say, to the art work.'
Rachel said: 'You can see where the legs have just collapsed at the front.
'The couple apparently fled the museum before staff noticed what had happened.
'I mean quite how sort of vigorously this couple is now being pursued by the authorities I do not know, they certainly left their mark.'
Again, Ben started to laugh to himself and told viewers: 'They did, indeed. Imagine that moment of horror when it happened and you thought "Oh dear, we're in trouble".'
'Then realised that it has been beamed around the world on news programmes,' Rachel chimed in.
'Exactly. Like this,' Ben said.
Those watching at home were not impressed with their reactions.
Many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts.
'I hope they catch the couple from the museum.
'Also don't understand why #BBCBreakfast are treating it as a laugh and a joke.'
'Seem to have totally skipped over the fact the guy destroyed a piece of art...
'He had no right to try it out! #BBCBreakfast.'
Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One and is available to stream on iPlayer.

My feral kids are ruining my summer – my daughter weed on the floor in Smyth's & it wasn't even the worst part of my day

A BUSY mum has shared the reality of having kids during the summer holidays. Mum-of-two Beth Hinchliffe, from the UK, took to social media to share just how her summer was going, and it didn't sound good. Taking to social media, she said: "Welcome to the f**kers family. If you're wondering why we're called that, it's because I genuinely think I was cursed in my past life because I have the most two feral f**king kids on planet earth. "Genuinely think I'd be better if I had two wild b**tard animals living in my house than these kids." The hilarious mum said that within 48 hours her summer was already ruined, leading her to question if she should 'put this extension cable in the bathroom and just f**king electrocute myself.' Beth revealed that she decided to take her children to the toy store Smyth's, but disaster soon struck. She revealed: "I drove the kids to Smyth's yesterday, one of them p**sed on floor, didn't tell me that she needed a wee and she's fully potty trained." To top it off, Beth then stank of wee as well as she had to pick her daughter up. While it would be enough to annoy any parent, her day didn't get better. That same night, her youngest decided to throw her head back while being put to bed, giving Beth a black eye. To add to the drama, the kids being off school meant she was constantly cleaning her house as well. Beth said: "I really think I'm gonna have to go to doctors because I genuinely think I'm losing my f**king mind." How to keep your paddling pool spotless and safe this summer The clip soon went viral on her TikTok account @ bethhinchliffexox with over 1.7 million views and 122k likes. Plenty of parents were quick to take to the comments, agreeing with the mum. One person wrote: "Immediate follow because motherhood isn't fairies and rainbows like people make it out to be." Another commented: "My fully toilet-trained toddler pooed in the corner of his room today if it makes you feel better." "Now this is motherhood," penned a third. How to survive six weeks of school summer holidays IF you are struggling with the six week summer holidays, you've come to the right place... BATTLING BOREDOM: Despite hours of activities and playdates, if your kids are already complaining there's nothing to do, parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi says: 'Don't feel you have to organise every second of the holidays. Kids benefit from boredom and learn to make their own fun. 'Boredom can trigger creative and imaginative play but you need to encourage kids to get used to not being told how to spend their time. 'Ride out the pleas of boredom. Counter it with comments such as, 'What do you think you could do?' and maybe have a list of 'I'm bored' activity ideas on the fridge.' SCREEN OVERLOAD: It's tempting during the holidays to rely on a digital babysitter but don't let them gawp their whole summer away in front of a screen. Liat says: 'It's unfair to expect older kids to power down but it's important to set some ground rules. 'Set family tech rules together. If you're often distracted by your phone, follow the rules too. Maybe tell the kids they aren't allowed any screen time until they've done set chores, some exercise, or a board game. 'Are there times when you'd like to ban screens completely? Perhaps during dinner or when they have friends over to visit. 'Tech is a battleground for parents, but you have to set boundaries. Stand firm and be prepared to be unpopular.' TOO MUCH TOGETHERNESS: You love your kids, but being with them 24/7 can be exhausting. Do not feel guilty if you need a bit of downtime. Liat says: 'If you're juggling work and household tasks as well as occupying the kids, it's normal to start feeling overwhelmed or jaded and in need of some peace. 'If you can't afford or don't want to send your kids to all-day camps, look for free kids' workshops so you can get on with jobs or have a break for a couple of hours. 'Seeking a spell of quiet every now and then doesn't make you a bad parent — in fact it will probably make you more positive and enthusiastic when you are with the kids.' SCHEDULING CONFLICT: Schedules can go out the window during holidays, but late nights and early mornings can mean tired and unhappy children. Dr Tamara Bugembe, paediatrician and founder of says: 'Children get grumpy, test boundaries and become challenging when routines are broken. 'Sticking to some kind of routine during the holidays is a good idea. 'We release hormones at different times of the day and when regular meal times and bed times are broken, it causes dips and peaks in mood. 'Holidays are about having fun but an early night once or twice a week will make everyone happier.' EXCESS ENERGY: Make sure kids get out in the fresh air to tire them out — and make them healthier and happier. Dr Bugembe says: 'Sunshine also tops up vital vitamin D levels which helps improve bone strength and energy levels in children. Our levels run low in winter so let the kids stock up in warmer weather. 'Letting them run around in shorts and a T-shirt is the best way to top up. Make sure they're wearing sun cream, get outside and have fun. 'Encourage them to try healthy habits such as cycling and walking. They'll hopefully get hooked and want to carry them on when the weather gets colder.' Meanwhile a fourth said: "Hahaha darling it only gets worse." "This is me and my 3 boys daily,' claimed a fifth

Ellie Goldstein 'to become first Strictly Come Dancing star with Down syndrome as she is latest star to sign to 2026 series'

Ellie Goldstein is reportedly set to become the first Strictly Come Dancing star with Down syndrome after signing up for the show. The model, 23, who has appeared on the cover of Vogue, is hoping to 'break down barriers' in the entertainment industry. When Ellie was born, doctors said that she would 'never walk or talk', and one nurse devastatingly suggested that her parents might want to 'leave her' at the hospital. But she has defied all expectations since her birth in December 2001, making history as the first model with Down's syndrome to feature in major international campaigns. And as Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to screens this Autumn, Ellie has been rumoured to be the latest celebrity who has signed on to the cast. A source told The Sun: 'Ellie is thrilled to be taking part in Strictly. She has broken down so many barriers in her career, from modelling for Gucci to being the first model with Down syndrome to appear on the cover of Vogue.' They added: 'Ellie can't wait to get started on the show and show people what she can do.' Daily Mail has contacted the BBC for comment. Gucci hired Ellie for its Unconventional Beauty adverts, landing her the cover of Italian Vogue in 2020. She has graced the covers of numerous magazines, including Elle and Glamour, featured in promotions for Gucci Beauty, Adidas, TK Maxx, Body Shop, Boots, Spotify, Victoria's Secret and Sports Direct, and even hung in the National Portrait Gallery in London on two occasions. Ellie has been flown to Sweden, Italy and Germany for photoshoots, and has just strutted her stuff on the catwalk at London Fashion Week. In 2023, she headed to Paris to receive a prestigious Business of Fashion award. As well as being 'treated like a princess' on photoshoots, Ellie has also been showered with designer gifts — clothes and bags from Gucci and Kurt Geiger — and helped create her own dress for Adidas, pale pink with 'Role Model' written on the back. When Mattel launched its first Barbie with Down's syndrome, the company hired Ellie to help promote the doll. 'I've done so much modelling and I love it,' she previously told Daily Mail. 'And I adored doing the Barbie job — it was great to finally see a doll that looked like me.' When Mattel launched its first Barbie with Down's syndrome, it was Ellie the company hired to help promote the doll Earlier this year, she starred in the Stand Up To Cancer 2025 celebrity special alongside Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway, TV presenter Sarah Beeny, Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford and actress Meera Syal. Ellie began her modelling career in sixth form when a friend of her mum's had seen the manager of an 'inclusive' talent agency, Zebedee — which works with people with disabilities and visible differences — on daytime television. She suggested Ellie, whose favourite pastimes have always been singing and dancing, would be a perfect signing. Ellie's mum Yvonne contacted Zebedee which, after a trial photoshoot, added Ellie to its books in 2016. Eight months later, Ellie was featured in Superdrug's Christmas advert. 'I loved it!,' Ellie said. 'I got to dance and wear hair glitter.'
