Frankie Grande details the inspiration behind his steamy "Boys" music video
Grande, who's gearing up to release his debut album in June, says he got to reflect on "so many stages" of his life
Grande reveals he wrote a "gay wedding song" for the albumIn need of a new Pride anthem this summer? Frankie Grande's got you covered.
In celebration of "queer joy," Grande released "Boys" with an accompanying music video on Friday, May 16. "Boys" is the latest release off his forthcoming debut album Hotel Rock Bottom, which is set for release on June 27.
"This is the gayest song on the album, and that's why I was like, let's drop this for pride," Grande, 42, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
"Boys" follows the release of "Rhythm of Love," which Grande, who's the older brother of Ariana Grande, says was a "beautiful introduction to the world as an artist."
"It was a beautiful like, 'Hello world. I'm an artist.' That was 'Rhythm of Love.' 'Boys' is like, 'Hello world, I'm a huge homosexual.' And then we'll see where we go from there," he says.
In the music video, Grande — who's surrounded by male dancers — breaks into dance numbers in a steamy gym. The idea came to him when he was working out at an Equinox.
"I was doing my makeup in the mirror with my headphones in and I was listening to the song 'Boys.' As I was doing my makeup, I was looking at all these men around me in towels and they were all so hot and so sexy and so masculine," he recalls.
Grande continues, "It's celebrating queer joy and masculinity and really just breaking down those gender norms as we have very queer men sometimes in various straight spaces. It's so cool to do so. So I just wanted to reclaim the gym in the locker room for the gays."
For Grande, "Boys" is also an opportunity for listeners to "shake it all on the dance floor."
"Especially in the LGBTQ+ community, we are under attack, and so we do have to find places to go celebrate. And for me, that's always been the dance floor," Grande, who's playing Outloud Music Festival in June, says.
As for his debut album, Grande says he's happy he gets to "reflect on so many different stages of my life," including his marriage to Hale Leon and sobriety journey. His goal all along was to be "as gay as humanly possible in every area of media" — and his next stop was music.
"I am currently seven and a half years sober, so a lot of my album exists in sobriety," he says. "There is the center song of the album, which is the choice to get sober, and then the first half of the album is me being a f--ing mess at the club."
He continues, "I love every single phase of me because it has brought me to where I am today. I don't judge any single part of my life, but it's been nice to go all the way back to the messy ass club days and then also get sober and get married."
Grande also teases that there's a "gay wedding song" on the album, which he wrote about Leon and means "so much" to him
"We don't have a gay wedding song and now we do. You're welcome," he says, adding that he's grateful he has a man who "supports me so unconditionally."
"Boys" is out now.

The 'RHOBH' star posed for the revealing snap wearing nothing but red lipstick, sunglasses and a flower in her hair NEED TO KNOW Jennifer Tilly stripped down to nothing but red lipstick, sunglasses and a flower in her hair for an Instagram post on Monday, Aug. 18 "Thirst trap," she simply captioned the photo Tilly joined season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as a friend of the show last year Jennifer Tilly is baring all! The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 66, stripped down to nothing but sunglasses and a flower in her hair for an Instagram post shared Monday, Aug. 18. Leaving little to the imagination, Tilly stood completely nude in a pool as she folded her arms and stared into the camera, completing her look with red lipstick. She received lots of love in the comments section from fellow Bravolebrities and fans. LaLa Kent applauded Tilly's post with a "👏" Emoji while Lisa Rinna wrote, "🔥🔥🔥." Actress Donna D'Errico commented, "On fire! 🔥," while another fan added, "Consider me trapped." The Chucky actress joined season 14 of RHOBH as a friend of the show last year. She revealed what it was really like to film for the series, confessing it wasn't as glamorous as she thought it would be. 'I remember I was like, 'I live in Beverly Hills, and it'd be kind of fun to see Beverly Hills through the lens of really rich people,' ' she told Vulture in an interview published in August 2024. 'I thought that I was going to see a lot of people shopping on Rodeo Drive, but a lot of the filming that they do is in the Valley, in places where it's easier to get permits. So it's not like you're at the fanciest places in Beverly Hills, arguing.' Still, she later added that there was no shortage of drama. 'You come in without a script. It's just sort of like they just wade in there, and they go at it,' the Academy Award winner continued. 'In real life, if you're at a restaurant and people at the table are screaming at each other, you're mortified like, 'Oh my God. I can't believe I'm with these uncouth people.' But when I am sitting at a table with Housewives, I feel like I have a front-row seat at the Super Bowl.' Tilly also noted that she has no regrets about her new gig. 'I appreciate what they do,' she said of Housewives. 'I'm just going to say it's really challenging. It's the craziest thing I've ever done, but I'm really happy I'm doing it, and I think it's such an interesting kind of sharp left turn for my career.' "I'm not a Housewife. I'm a Friend, though, which is a lot easier," she continued in part. "You just dip in and out. You try to avoid, like, flying shrapnel. And you know, if drinks are thrown, I have good reflexes." The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills can be streamed on Peacock. Read the original article on People

Inside Prince Harry's Secret Tribute for Prince Philip Amid WWII Anniversary

Inside Prince Harry's Secret Tribute for Prince Philip Amid WWII Anniversary originally appeared on Parade. Prince Harry may have distanced himself from the royal family, though he made sure to pay tribute to his late grandfather Prince Philip on the 80th anniversary of V-J Day. The monumental moment marked the end of World War II in 1945. Harry, 40, had a wreath and letter placed at the Burma Star Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Staffordshire, England, on August 15 to honor Philip and other veterans. The Duke of Sussex reportedly asked a friend to place his tribute after his father, King Charles III, his stepmother, Queen Camilla, and members of the media left the event, according to People. Charles, 76, led a service of remembrance for those who served in the Asia-Pacific region during the war earlier that day. The letter, which was written on Harry's personal letterhead, praised members of the 'Forgotten Army' whose 'courage and endurance in the Far East campaign were anything but forgettable.' He also made sure to include a personal message for Philip, who died at the age of 99 in 2021. 'For me, this anniversary carries an added layer of meaning. My late grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, served in the Pacific campaign,' Harry wrote. 'He spoke with quiet humility about those years, but I know how deeply he respected all who stood beside him in that theater of war. Today, as I think of him, I think also of each of you, of the shared hardships, the bonds forged and the legacy you leave.' Additionally, he was on board a ship in Tokyo Bay when Japan officially surrendered in September 1945. While Harry clearly has love for Philip and other WWII veterans, he likely didn't appear at the celebration due to his estrangement from his family. After he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, the couple continued to keep their distance from his family as they relocated to California.
