Wisconsin football top class of 2026 safety target commits to Notre Dame
Wisconsin top class of 2026 safety target Nick Reddish committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday.
Reddish, who recently whittled his list of finalists down to four, elected to join Marcus Freeman's program over opportunities with the Badgers, Indiana Hoosiers and Virginia Tech Hokies. He becomes the second high-profile 2026 safety target to commit elsewhere in the past few days, following three-star Jowell Combay.
The rising senior joins a Notre Dame class of 2026 that currently ranks No. 4 in the nation with 26 commitments, including 15 four or five-star recruits.
The rising senior received his offer from UW on May 14 before officially visiting Madison the weekend of May 30. He then made a trip to Virginia Tech the weekend of June 6 before a visit with Notre Dame the weekend of June 12.
247Sports considers the Independence High School product the No. 681 overall recruit, No. 57 safety and No. 31 player from his home state of North Carolina.
Reddish's chance of landing with Notre Dame did not shock those invested in his recruiting journey. Several recruiting outlets projected the Charlotte, North Carolina, native to join the Fighting Irish, including On3's recruiting machine.
As of July 11, Wisconsin's class of 2026 ranks No. 49 in the nation and No. 15 in the Big Ten with 15 players committed. Four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit and four-star running back Amari Latimer impacted the program's national standing in late June. Still, UW's failure to secure additional commitments has left it in need of some new talent.

"No recollection, zero idea, no idea what happened," Askren said in the video, still wearing a hospital gown as he chuckled between coughs. "I just read through my wife's journal, and it's like a movie. It's ridiculous. I only died four times, where the ticker stopped for about 20 seconds. That's not ideal, I don't know if you guys know that." Askren's wife Amy previously shared in a series of social media posts that Askren was placed on a ventilator in June after he was brought to a Wisconsin hospital in critical condition, and he received a spot on the donor list for a lung transplant on June 24. In his update, the boxer shared that he had lost about 50 lbs. during the 45-day stretch in the hospital, joking to his followers that he hasn't "been 147 lbs. since [I was] 15 years old." "It was almost like I got to have my own funeral." "I still remember 30 years ago, when Dave Schultz died. Amy first shared the news about his complications from pneumonia on June, 7, announcing in a Facebook post that the former MMA fighter was taken to the hospital after developing 'severe pneumonia.' He's currently in the hospital and unable to respond to anything at this time.' Amy, who has been married to Askren since 2010 and with whom he shares three children, continued to share updates throughout her husband's month-long hospital stay. In an post shared on Facebook on June 30, after he received his double lung transplant, she wrote that the surgery marked a new beginning for the wrestler. "This is the beginning of a new lifestyle for Ben, but every new day he has is a gift," she said, writing that it "still doesn't feel real" that her husband was "walking around completely healthy just 5 weeks ago." In 2019, he announced his retirement from the UFC after just three fights, citing "hip issues," according to ESPN. He completed his UFC career with just three fights and a 1-2 record. Texas A&M's Mya Perez to star in MLB's Home Run Derby X Showcase
Texas A&M power-hitting ace Mya Perez will be back in action on July 26 when she joins the unique MLB Home Run Derby X. On Saturday afternoon, the Round Rock Express minor league baseball team confirmed Perez's commitment to the event. So, what is MLB Home Run Derby X? Launched in 2022, MLB sought to create an exciting event to attract new fans to the sport, and Home Run Derby X was born. Here's how the league describes it: MLB Home Run Derby X is an electric new baseball format. A 3-on-3 co-ed competition featuring power hitting and athletic catching. Each event features four teams with each team led by an MLB legend. Two semi-finals. One final. Non-stop action. Perez has long been known for her power, even before arriving in Aggieland. She burst onto the scene as a member of the highly touted Athletics Mercado travel softball team.
