Australia's Olympic golden girl Kaylee McKeown has publicly revealed her new partner – former North Melbourne AFL-listed-player-turned-lawyer Declan Watson – just a week after her stunning world championships performance in Singapore.
McKeown is undoubtedly one of Australia's biggest Olympic stars, the first Aussie in history to win back-to-back 100m-200m swimming titles following her incredible performances in Paris last year.

But behind the golden glow McKeown suffered heartache, with a split from her long term boyfriend and fellow Dolphins swimmer Brendan Smith.
McKeown and Smith had dated for about four years, both having set up base on the Gold Coast in the lead up to the Paris Olympics training under Michael Bohl.
But since the split, and with Bohl relocating to China, McKeown has left the Gold Coast and relocated back home to the Sunshine Coast with her family to continue her swimming career.

However the 24-year-old has clearly moved on with life, winning double backstroke gold again in Singapore and then returning home for a well-deserved holiday with her new man posting some stunning photos of their holiday to Uluru.
Watson too posted photos of McKeown on his Instagram page – making the duo Insta-official.

The 26-year-old was drafted by North Melbourne with pick No.34 in the 2016 draft but after back-to-back ACL injuries the key defender never played a game for the Kangaroos and was de-listed in 2019.
He has since returned home to Brisbane where he now works as a lawyer.
'Declan showed some great potential but unfortunately was set back with injury,' North VFL coach David Loader said at the time.
'He was a great contributor to our group and we certainly wish him all the best for the future.'

LA 2028 to sell venue name rights in Olympic first

Organizers of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics will sell naming rights for some competition venues to "unlock an additional revenue stream" in a move that breaks with Games tradition of forbidding brand names on stadiums and arenas. In a statement released on Thursday, LA28 organizers said the "landmark change" will apply to featured venues in support of the "largest commercial revenue raise in sports". "From the moment we submitted our bid, LA28 committed to reimagining what's possible for the Games," LA28 chairperson and president Casey Wasserman said in a statement. "Today's historic announcement delivers on that promise, creating the first-ever venue naming rights program in Olympic and Paralympic history while advancing LA28's mission of a fully privately funded and no-new-build Games." Contracts are already in place with automaker Honda, an LA28 sponsor which already has the naming rights for the Anaheim, California, arena that will host volleyball, and with media and technology company Comcast -- which will have its name on the temporary squash venue. As previously announced, Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles will host boxing and weightlifting. Wasserman said the "groundbreaking partnerships" will generate revenue beyond what is already budgeted and "will introduce a new commercial model to benefit the entire (Olympic) movement". "We're grateful to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for making this transformation possible," he added. Naming rights for up to 19 temporary venues will be available, with the IOC's sponsorship partners and LA28 partners having a chance to put their names on Games venues. "Clean venue" policies that prohibit advertising on the field of play will still apply.

Voss behind McGovern, excited for Walsh's Blues return

Mitch McGovern is disappointed to be overlooked for AFL selection but Carlton coach Michael Voss wants the veteran defender to remain with the Blues next season. After playing 17 games this year, McGovern has been unable to force his way back into Carlton's best 23 following his latest hamstring injury. McGovern performed strongly in the VFL last weekend, but Carlton's only inclusion for Saturday's clash with Port Adelaide was star midfielder Sam Walsh. The 30-year-old McGovern comes out of contract at season's end and is no guarantee to sign a fresh deal amid significant change at Carlton following a horror 2025. When asked if he wanted the former Adelaide player to stay at Carlton next year, Voss replied: 'Absolutely'. 'While he's probably more on the back end of his career, rather than the front end, he's shown over the last couple of years that, some of the concerns he had around his body, there's less of those,' said the coach. 'There's nothing wrong with earning your right on the way back in. 'Being one of the older players and seeing some of the younger players playing well ... the only conversations I've had is that he's been excited by what he's seen, but he's also desperate to play. 'By not playing, clearly he's disappointed in not being able to do that.' Third-generation Blue Jack Silvagni is another defensive pillar out of contract, weighing up options from Collingwood, the Western Bulldogs and Essendon. Silvagni has met with all three of those clubs after already being ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury. Voss joked Silvagni had 'been busy' but insisted he was still 'really confident' the son of the legendary Stephen Silvagni would continue at Ikon Park. 'We're at the end of the season, and they haven't signed yet,' Voss said. 'If you're lacking any confidence, it's probably around that, but in terms of needs and want to have them, we'd love for them to stay. 'But we're also realistic in where we sit in the season.' Vice-captain Walsh will return for his first match since round 13 after recovering from a foot injury. Voss said Walsh had been 'scratching at my door' to play, even though the Blues have just two games left this year and have long been out of finals contention. 'It's just a great sign when you've got one of your leaders that wants to see it through and wants to get out there and be a part of it,' Voss said. 'It hasn't necessarily turned to the results we're after, but we've been energised by some of the things we're seeing on the ground, seeing some of the younger players and what they've been able to do.' Walsh has endured several interrupted pre-seasons in recent times, with serious back issues often troubling him. The 25-year-old will be on managed minutes against the Power, but Carlton are hoping two games can help propel him into 2026.

Powerful Aussie line-up for Davis Cup fray in Sydney

Battling Jordan Thompson will spearhead Australia's push to make another Davis Cup finals week after being named in Lleyton Hewitt's side for their crucial qualifying tie with Belgium in Sydney. Thompson has just got back into action after an injury-ravaged year but Hewitt has had no hesitation plunging the ever reliable 31-year-old fighter into the team which must win the two-day tie at the Ken Rosewall Arena on September 13-14 if they're to qualify among the eight teams for the finals in Bologna in November. Alex de Minaur will, as ever, lead the lineup alongside Alexei Popyrin, with Hewitt potentially having the luxury for the first time of being able to field two top-20 players in the four singles ties. He'll also have Thompson, ranked 50 in the world, as a singles back-up while Olympic champion Matt Ebden has also been selected to join him in a formidable doubles partnership. The pair have been gaining useful practice, playing alongside each other at this week's Cincinnati Open. With only four players listed so far, Hewitt could also yet include another name to his team list should there be any injury concerns over the busy and demanding US Open spell. In contrast to the Australians being able to field three top-50 singles players, the Belgians have only one top-100 player, world No.54 Zizou Bergs, in their squad. Raphael Collignon (No.107) and Alexander Blockx (119) will be battling for the other singles berth, while Joran Vliegen and Sander Gille are both top-100 doubles players. Thompson made his return to action last week in Cincinnati, losing in the first round, after his heroics at Wimbledon in which he reached the fourth round despite struggling badly with a back injury, the latest in a catalogue of woes he's suffered all year. The seven winning nations in the September qualifiers will join defending champions Italy at the Bologna in 'final 8 week' between 18-23 November. Among the team nominations, de Minaur has been joined by several other top-10 stars, headed by Spain's Carlos Alcaraz, Americans Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, and Denmark's Holger Rune. Alcaraz and Rune will face off in a blockbuster Spain-Denmark clash in Marbella, while the Americans have a hugely powerful squad, also bolstered by Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe, to take on the Czech Republic, who are led by Miami champion Jakub Mensik.
